  1. Taken January 17 1979 Caption said 15 1/2 to 21 inches 2nd from tape had a 9inch trout in in.
  2. Well fed, CDFG fed them well pretty much each Tuesday between 2 and 4pm at the boat ramp and they knew it. Not sure if they still are that regular but it was funny watching the old guys filter into the lake set up a pinochle game on the picnic table around noon and waiting on the truck to show up. Looked like a McDonalds in the morning.
  3. If I remember I will scan some of my Grandfathers pictures tonight when I get home of Spots he had caught. Legal size had to be over 15'' and typically a legal spot weighed just shy of 4lbs and a 20'' was close to 6lbs Quill. I have caught many of them in Lake Perris before anglers introduced FL-LMB in the lake and they were big fat trout eating machines, along with waterdogs and crawfish. My best was 19.75 length and 17.25 girth the scale at the lake said 6.89. I was shocked when I saw this thread as I honestly didn't think to many spots were left out there due to people introducing the FL-LMB's in so many of the lakes.
  4. Glen, you ask who and the answer is most everyday Joe's could the problem is a bureaucrat would be in charge and we don't need to look hard to see what those do to simple jobs. If this went to MDC who is a permissive agency it could be a good thing, they say what you can do everything else is a cannot! MDC does have short comings but by in large they do a good job. I just wish there was more enforcement agents for protection of the resource.
  5. Al, I am not disagreeing with you in the least bit, but I also smell something that could happen that left a bad, very bad taste in my mouth. It is called ( The Forrestry Adventure Pass ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Forest_Adventure_Pass Very few things ever had me so mad in my life than charging people for the use of the National Forrest! This could be what might happen here.
  6. It came from the tailwaters of Beaver lake, which is part of tablerock but due to politics AKA state boundaries it is Arkansas instead of Missouri apparently the fish did not have a "White River Border Lakes Pass" Thus it had to be Arkansas State record or it could have been cited for being a fish in the wrong lake without the proper license. WHEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW that took a lot to type without falling on the floor laughing, though some of it is true
  7. That argument is settled easily. It is impossible for fish to migrate up through the dam but they can move in to tablerock hence the tailwaters are part of tablerock.
  8. Ok I was getting very confused as this is the Beaver Lake forum and I was scratching my head at a tournament that allowed live bait and trout in the lake. Now I get it... NOT about Beaver Lake stuff
  9. Wayne your just OLD so you need every advantage possible lol.
  10. Oh and Phil.... There was a lot of skunk going on this weekend and it stunk bad.
  11. I just chuckle when they do it to me. I give the spot the lure the technique and hope it works for others. I do admit though it gives me great chuckles as typically its the guys who cant or are not catching fish raising the stink. Others PM me honestly wanting to learn more and to me that is what its all about to me ( helping others ) and ignoring the others but i see your point and bet to a degree it is the truth.
  12. Junk I wouldn't say that, outdated certainly at that age. Lets face it technology is advancing so fast in the Fishing Electronics world that even last years gear is outdated. If it can located depth and structure its still useful but if you are wanting high resolution and actual fish Identification then you need to upgrade. It is more about what your expectations are than if the unit is junk. Heck I still use a flasher setting on my gear and that's as old a technology as it gets.
  13. Ok I was in there from about 2 till 4pm, Just a super tough day yesterday all around from the sounds of it.
  14. LMAO, Anytime I was down there I did and seen Happy in there more than once lol. I do have to admit I miss fishing down there but sure don't miss Sewalls Point speed trap.
  15. Mark what are you in? I was in Monte ne for a bit this afternoon.
  16. Had three Justin, 1. From Old Fort Pierce, 1 From Oslo Road and the other came from behind Snook Nook, wanna guess what I just had for lunch fishing that area?
  17. There is no way to positively ID a fish with a clipped fin without DNA testing and that is much more expensive than a chip. With a chip recapture data is more valuable based on accuracy and that data is value as it tells the history so to speak of the fish and its DNA line without invasive disfigurement of the fish and expensive DNA testing.
  18. Dead day today except for one big paddlefish my brother snagged while we were trying to catch whites on a spoon.
  19. Yes simple solution, been there done that, you can get a good reader for about 500.00 the chips themselves ( last I checked about 2 bucks each ) but that was a few years ago. I wouldn't call that expensive to be honest with you. As to the tags put a reward on them Florida did it with redfish and it was extremely popular. You got a nice farmable certificate with the information about the fish and a shirt. the really cool thing was I had caught 1 that had been caught 7 times before me and I had the info on my certificate and that fish should still be swimming as it was well over the slot limit. I call that one heck of a good program.
  20. Here is a simple solution. Microchip them and put a fricken tag in their backs, only reason left with technology today for clipping is DNA and in hatchery fish is that really that needed on large scale?
  21. LMAO..... AHM comes to mind
  22. Jeff I have friend in Louisiana that say they still have snows and specks in larger numbers. Sister-in-law sent me pics the other night of probably 30k in one of our farms fields in SEAR Still a lot of birds in Ar and La.
  23. Shad die in cold water no surprises there, The whites and stripers im catching are the fattest winter fish I have seen in a long time all gorging on freebies. Its just nature but I think city folk moving to the country freak out to much over nothing.
