  8. Wrench I see that myself. Its hard to explain Socal to people who have not lived there. You get that type of fighting even in the city level there. Think about it one council man can represent 200,000 people thats more than most cities in many states. Tack on the wealth issues in one community vs another and so many other differances its unreal. Mitch I have been there when my cousin was murdered, subject holed himself up in his house and the police got him out to stand trial. I would love ot have put a bullet in his head but it was my grandfather who stood up and said THIS IS WHAT MADE US BETTER THAN THE JAPS OR NAZI'S I FOUGHT AGAINST. from that day I have looked at things much diffrent our Nation has laws to protect people and gramps was right. I think of the Millions of Americans who have died to protect those rights so as hard as it might be we need to remember why this nation was founded and her laws even in the most trying of times.
  9. I am reading replies on numerous boards, from guys who the last month have been screaming about the Constitution and Second Amendment rights and other Rights in the Bill of rights. Yet now are saying a person should not have those same rights. Yes he was a POS and was looking to kill people, that is without any doubt, as they were his very own words. However If you look at the events leading up to yesterday afternoon he lost all his rights as evident by the LAPD’s actions in the days following the first killings. There was going to be no quarter given to him he was to be terminated with extreme prejudice had he had any access to radio, tv, internet or news paper that would be obvious and clear to him by the action of law enforcement. It could reasonably be argued he was acting in self defense for fear of his life. That might sound crazy but if you had been listed as Wanted and seen the Police shooting up things that looked like your vehicle without first ascertaining who was in it or if it was even a correct match, then it would be a reasonable assumption. We do not nor will we ever know if he tried to surrender as the media choppers and crews were ordered out of the area, Violation of our First Amendment? ( Possibly ) as the choppers could have been asked to NOT show live video but allowed to remain in the area. It would appear this may well have been a act to cover up anything they were doing they (the police) did not want on tape. Speculatively there has been reports he tried to exit the building but was pushed back in just prior to the fire or right as it started, could he have been giving up? (maybe) but we will never know. Then you have the tapes now being released clearly with officers authorizing “Burners” and officers saying let the Mother F-er burn. This is NOT justice in the United States. Our Police are not vigilantlys that can execute people because of what they did no matter how horrible, that is the job of the justice system. And only after the person has been given due process of law. I am glad this guy is gone ( if its confirmed to be him ) he deserves the Death Penalty for his action, but he is entitles to a fair trial not a summary execution. They had him securely locked down with no chance for escape they could have waited him out and should have waited him out. Time and tactical advantage was on their side he had lost all advantage and all hope of escaping this time. Yes he may have taken his life but that’s not in the justice systems control. Yes he could have come out and tried to die in a blaze of glory then the police would have been justified in their taking his life. But so far everything I have seen has been the actions of police forces to murder a person because of hatred and revenge. Our laws were not written to apply to one person or one class of people to all people equally and justly, it doesn’t matter if it is Joe the Plumber or Chris Dorner they apply to every American. If you want to play cowboy justice here than in the future when our rights are being threatened and your mad about it I suggest soul searching back to your comments here. This is one Nation and One People where all the laws apply to each One equally. It is ironic that the actions that started this entire ordeal are the ones now having people question the police departments and procedures don’t you think? I was all for the Police prior to their actions that appear revenge motivated. What he did to start this was complain about another officer abusing a suspect and abusing his powers and what has killed Dorner may well now be proof of police abuse of power. In the fact that it appears the officer were out to kill him and never take him alive. I would hope in there is a full investigation and we learn the truth about everything, but having lived in SoCal for many years my gut tells me this will be just another cover up by LAPD with tons of mishandlings so we never get the truth. I have ZERO faith in LAPD for truthfulness. I may end up being wrong but let’s face it the record is not the best for truth or handling high profile cases well.
  10. 6 to 8'' worms as a rule for me, I watch what gets ran down after rains and its typically in that size range. Now in late spring when i start seeing a lot of water snakes I will go up or down in size to match their size and try and match their coloration.
  11. lmao priceless... ive seen bass do it also and stripers, gators are real experts at sitting under tree nesting birds and waiting for their snacks
  12. Ive caught several i nthe tailwaters below beaver dam and that is also where the AR record cam from. They are in TR but not in very high numbers. People often forget those tailwaters are part of Tablerock.
  13. There are two areas of SC people talk about, The Ranch and the Western sections. The Ranch you can pay to play last i checked ( couple years ago ) They are nice size fish and plentiful or were when i was there. The Western Section is completely Private and you cannot fish it without permission or the Law will come say hello and give you a citation. I have accessed the Western Section a few times and caught a few fish but they are few and far between, but they are quality size fish problem is getting permission is got to the point its next to impossible.
  14. Just got back from a funeral in SE AR and there are still 100's of thousands of snows down there, They were not in staging groups yet and very happy eating until somone with evil intentions decided to introduce them to a Browing extended tube Probably 2 weeks before they start showing up in numbers in Western Mo.
  15. Jason; for my live bait order it is; 1. Creek Chub 2. Brooders 3. Threadfin Shad 4. Gizzard Shad 5. Worms Of those though 3 to 5'' Gizzards seem to be the best catchers if that helps
  16. Think of it like this. If they stocked Tarpon they would in turn have to stock their predator the Bullshark. And Bullsharks like tubers... Lets push for a Tarpon Stocking :)
  17. That reminds me of the waterfowl harvest information they come up with. How in the HEdouble Hockey sticks could they have a valid number. Sorry Charlie pulling numbers out of a hat doesnt cut it. A couple years ago they said the Central Flyway shot 200 Eider really lmao. Guess they have to justify the money to biologist with meaningless surveys and math.
  18. Sorry been away and missed this, Wrench, there are several lakes in Southern California that has successful striper hatches. Now before you get your hopes up they are fed by the Aquitduct system that allows the free flowing water they must have to hatch. Here is a good paper on them http://www.rockportflyfishers.com/articles/biology_of_striped_bass.pdf In a flood year it could be possible for them to breed in our lakes if the rains came and if the gates were open both togeather long enough to keep the flow right but that would be a fluke and then some.
  19. Wayne, Look back at some of the post from last year it was hammered pretty hard on that topic, Bottom line is the thing was effective last year and this year not so much, I think if anything it proves fish learn and adapt to means of catching them.
  20. Im Curious also about Greers, as this thread is covering so much, How is greers comparaing.
  21. Quality, Man I know guys who dream of catching 5 to 6 pounders and ive done it on Tablerock, Beaver and Bull. My best still was one i popped last year out of the White behind Beaver that went 12.2. Our size limit also lends to quality fish, Now i do agree TR seems longer than thicker but Beaver seems well proportioned. Im not sure why but when i send pics or links to the fish guys here catch to some of my buddies they cry and some of them live on the Columbia. When our fish make those guys cry thats saying something.
  22. Man we are blessed just to be able to have so many great lakes so close that our problem is which on to fish or which river! I'll take it over over crowded city parks and ponds any day of the week.
  23. I will say i badmouth the MDC on occassion but having been to many states and seeing how they run the MDC is heads and tasils above most. And to quote a good friend who is a USFW Biologist i one time asked his dream job and he said anywhere in MISSOURI they arnt perfect but they try and care.
  24. Bry im going to say BS, to that, Ive worked with the White Seabass hatcheries when i lived in Cali, There is numerous reasons for not raising fish to large sizes, Cali a ( broke ) state could easily do it there pens are in or right on the ocean and could raise every one of the fish to legal size but that would prevent them from raising large numbers. Its not a money in transport cost and please dont make it out to be that when its not. The jobs of the hatchery is to raise quality fish and numbers and they have limited space to do it. Transportation is a small cost when you factor everything in to it, You have staff, filtration, feed, etc transport is probably vry low on the cost list.
  25. The one in the striper was very fresh it was easy to ID it, the bass was not difficult either not many things with jawlines and even that small teeth not hard to ID honestly.
