Randy I appreciate that and we will talk. That one is hold great meaning to me from the guy who had it made for me. Long story short It was a Snook Rod, A friend who is no longer with us and I were fishing years back and he asked me about my dream Rod, I have always been partial to long butt sections and large enough front grips for my hand to fit on, both aid in fighting large fish. I wanted a rod that would normally be designed for 15 to 30 but eyed out for 10 to 20 instead. Well 8 weeks after the conversation this rod showed up on my door with a note that said " Dreams are for People who dont fish Reality is the life we live ". Good friends remind eachother that sometimes life's dreams are only realities we have not yet had.

I suppose its possible. Ive seen some nice cats on the down image that I would guess 50+ and seen some huge paddlers. Dont see why not Beaver has a great shad population.
-
I agree with ya stump. I just walked in from the lake fishing with a friend today and boated well over 50 fish. Our big bag would have been about 17lbs of bass. I have no clue how the FLW boys did but we had a great time today. Ill post up the full report in a few minutes.

They dont know Beaver, Like we were talking about yesterday, from the reading most guys are going up river to escape the wind when they should be locking down on the points with spinner baits. Im going out with a buddy today for some Walleye and Stripers, Rumor mill has it the Walleye have taken up home in Rocky Branch area and lord knows I dont mind catching them.

Ok I know its about the bird but i cant keep from looking at the outstanding Garden in the background.. Nice bird but DAMMMMMMMMM Son thats a sweet garden.

LMAO. PHOTOSHOP FOR DUMMIES should never have been published...

BIG IF... The guys I watched yesterday were working banks for Bedders... I have been catching most mine off points for almost two weeks now. But we are locals and know Beaver and the wind. Im betting if any of them went over to Bear and Deer and worked the points in 8 to 15 ft they would have 15lb bag for today at least.

I'll guess Bella Veeeesta Lake lol.

I doubt there will be to many people around me on Saturday, I think the crowds will be following around the top-20. If those guys want to come play out where I am they will be waisting good time tangling with stripers instead of the money fish.
-
Doc, It took me alot of years and pulled out hair to figure them out. Today was pure-D-luck though. Right place right time, I knew they were in the area but honestly was not expecting them to go on such a wide open bite till this weekend.

Congrats and welcome to the Dark Side. AKA Freshwater Bonefishing.. So how was his first run? Give you heart failure? -
I had an awesome morning at work and called the office to let them know I would be taking the rest the afternoon off to go watch some of the FLW. BUT me being me something else happened. Water temp 68.6 Wind out of the east about 5mph Bottom depth 20 to 25 ft Fish depth: surface to 15ft Something else that happened: Stupid striper rolled next to boat. Bait: Brooder Minnows Location: 12 Bridge area So anyway here I was watching some of the FLW boys when a Striper decided to role next to the boat. I turned on the graph and it was lit up from 7ft to 15 ft with some of the best marks I have seen in weeks. Well watching time was over and business time was on. I had stopped off at Hook, Line and Sinker and picked up some minnows to try for Walleye this evening after the weigh-in. But when oppertunity presents itself I take advantage of it. I tossed the first minow out and Instant hook up, the rippes from it landing had not even cleared yet when a 20lb class took it. Setting up for a drift I didnt even get the second bait out before the next striper took off. This went on for about another hour till I ran out of bait. All the fish were from 15 to 35lbs! These are the Larger Class of fish and a blast on 12lb line. I never made weigh-in i was occupied. I didnt get a shot at the Walleye either the bait just wouldnt make it to them, but the marks in 10 to 15 on the bottom I would bet are Walleye. Saturday should be fantastic and I cant wait for it. That is my favorite Rod, A custom Shimano Clarus 16'' rear handle 6'' front handle Medium Heavy rod with a Fast action rod is 7'10'' Best striper Rod I have ever owned and now way I will get another it was a gift from a good friend. Matched with a Calcutta 400b and 12lb flouro.

When Did Schools Loose There Since Of Humor?
Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in Beaver Lake
I followed it pretty close, Apparently the Kids checked the school rule books, talked to the local PD to be sure they were legal ( several parents confirmed this ) and they put the parking pass on the mowers to be legal at school also. It appears the Assistant principle just has a Corn Cob of epic size stuck someplace where the sun dont shine. Funny thing is his actions made these boys famous and they used it for good. I tip my hat to the boys for turning what could have been a war of words and or worse into something real good. Nice to see now-a-days. -
Nice write-up Champ. People IMO do not understand the cost involved in tournaments. Most mine were ocean tourneys but heck 200 bucks for entry 4 to 600$ for gas over the tourney lures rods gear and so on. They say Golf is a Rich Mans Game. Try tournament fishing! HECK just try being a serious fisherman for fun. 20 to 100 thousand dollar boats, Gas, Rods, Reels, Lures!!!! IT AINT CHEAP.

Muskie On The Fly @ Fellows?
Feathers and Fins replied to Andrew324's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
Never done it on Fellows but I have on Lake of the Woods and other Northern Lakes. Its not something new to target Musky with a fly-rod. 7 to 12wt rod, large flies and 12'' of 30 to 60lb wire leaders. I see no reason you couldnt target them on Fellows ( Im not familiar with the lake itself as far as rules for boating goes) I would say have fun with them they are a fun fish on a fly. And even on a flypole remember FIGURE 8! -
When Did Schools Loose There Since Of Humor?
Feathers and Fins replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in Beaver Lake
Well according to the news tonight they have raised 5000 dollars for charity and plan to spend the summer mowing yards for those in need who cannot. More to the story seems to be these kids used their fame to do alot of good. -
It happens, they eat the same so dont stress it you got an oddball trophy and some good eats.

Help Me Identify This Snake
Feathers and Fins replied to Mitch f's topic in General Angling Discussion
LOL, Wayne most ER's will take you right in to the back, probloem then comes as to how to treat the bite and there are honestly very few places that know how to properly treat. Most go with what Poison Control says in the guidlines. Some though are smart enough to call Venom1 In Florida and ask. There is no set rules as its a case by case base but I will say this NO-ONE will perform surgery on me for swelling without consulting 3 people I have listed for my wife to contact. There are way to many cut happy doctors and I have seen first hand the results. Only Reason I DONT keep exotics anymore is the simple fact I dont live close to the AV anymore and dont really feel like getting my BB-IND and then going through the grief to find a docotr who will learn how to treat snake bites. I Would love to have cobras and mambas again but just dont want the hassle anymore. And I will state for the record I dont think 90% of people who have venomous reptiles should keep them. And those who do should go through proper training and licensing. It took me a long time to get my license in FL and was worth every minute of it for the knowledge and safety lessons. -
This Weekend I Was....
Feathers and Fins replied to Chief Grey Bear's topic in General Angling Discussion
You are. so what lol... atleast they didnt call you an old coot lol -
LOL ya my bad LBN Launch... And I was betting Honey Creek as well, Thatr house kinda sticks out. How hard would it have been to spent 5 minutes talking about rigging and methods? Heck they spent that joking at the ramp and about the striper dip. But on the good side of it All they showed was them catching typical beaver stripers none of the big jobs. So I guess people will keep goint to Quachy to go for the toads lol. I still worry FLW this week might get into alot of big stripers and the word still get out lol ya right... I do think the guys working the long points in 12 to 20 ft will be cussing a bunch as they hook the big stripers and not the precisous bass.
-
Looked like Lost Bridge South ramp they left from. And one of the areas they were in looked like Point 3's North side. Time of year I would have guest around October or Early November. Looked like typical 12 to 15lb fish they were getting. But I just kept thinking to myself Ive seen better on Youtube lol.

Help Me Identify This Snake
Feathers and Fins replied to Mitch f's topic in General Angling Discussion
So do Coral Snakes and Indigo Snakes, Fun Fact. The King Cobra is not a true Cobra and is in a genius all its own. It was formerly Classified Naja (true cobras) but the classification was changed to Ophiophagus hannah. Scary Fun fact there is a species of snake thats name says a lot about it Paradise FLYING Snake! My favorite question was always "whats the most deadly snake" Answer Dead is Dead everything else is Academic! Personally I would rather deal with 10,000 venomous snakes vs any 1 Of the big constrictors as there is no cure for suffication. lol -
You may get your wish... 81 for a high on Friday and then 69 for a high on Saturday with 40% chance of rain. Thur and Friday should be decent days but Saturday and Sunday will seperate the Men from the Boys. Beaver is going to be extremely tough on the weekend she doesnt play well with others after a front.

Ok that was boring. More of a Hey tune in and watch me catch fish! Did I miss something like ( time of year, water temp, bait used, how to rig for stripers, location, lures) you know some basics that might help people?
