Debris Ball Form Japanese Tsunami
Feathers and Fins replied to Mitch f's topic in Conservation Issues
Do you understand what the logistics that would be involved to Donate the meat from California Sport Fishermen to Japan? Not to mention you are talking about Japan not some third world country and they have plenty for those who were devestated. The Japanese Culture dictates they take care of their own it would be shame not to. Recovery is slow but steady and ongoing. Yes I have seen Rainbows Post and not certain why your bring it up. Looks to me like another angler who had a good day on the water. -
Way to go Marty, My favorite eating Goose for sure... Bonus to be getting them in this area for sure.

KC you need to understand the benifits as well as the negatives of it. I have a cousin living in Japan want to guess where??? He and his wife lost everything from the disaster but has moved on with his life they survived. I have survived through many disasters thankfully, and I have for most my adult life dealt with disaster clean-up and reconstruction. I learned everything but life can be replaced! and everything that is destroyed can be cleaned up. Cali is going to clean it up as are alot of other countries but you cannot expect every fisherman to go out everyday to just pick up debris. They will fish it many of them and thats ok too as there at least was some benifit to a horrible event. Maybe its seeing so much disaster in my life but i tend to now look for the possitives in every bad situation. Look at Joplin its near to all of us, Im up there often for work and seeing the good thats come out of the bad is inspiring to say the least. You wont hear about it on CNN or Fox or any of the news networks because reporting on possitives isnt rating worthy. I wish they would so people can see that unlike in other disaters where you get people crying about this or that or the gubberment not doing anything, they can see what happens when good hard working people put their boots on role up their sleeves and help their community and neighbors. It broke my heart when the storm hit the town i have many friends there and I was depressed for weeks having to be there everyday seeing it. But its also been one of the most heart lifting places to be since then seeing what people can do when they work togeather. So i look for the good in all bad. -

Man I know the flats your talking about off Oslo Road, I loved wading them ( with a long leash for my catch stupid baby blacktips and bulls ) My favorite flat was Bear Point, Caught several Tagged reds in there and a 12lbs gator trout, I had a key to the impoundment roads for Indian and St Lucie Counties, Me and my White Explorer would hit all the impountment culverts on outgoing tides and rack up the snook, reds and giant gator trout sitting at the mouths of them slurping mullet and mud minnows. That place was a fishermens dream, I think to many people look to the Back Country and Boca Grande and miss-out on the Indian and Bananna rivers insane fishing, The Treasure Cost is truly a Treasure... Did you ever get to fish the Giant Permit at the Reactor's outflow and if so how many blue runners and permit did you loose to Mr Jew? -

Honestly I bet the guys in Cali are hoping there is something to harm seals and sea lions. Those dam things are a nuisance to fishermen, I have lost more than my fair share of good quality fish to them. Im betting the answer is NO though as it has had so much time in the ocean already to disburse most of the harmfull chemicals and what might still be present is probably in very small amounts. I talked to some of my family who are already finding some debris and cant wait for this summer, They said if we can get the La Nina to change to El Nino then it will be the best offshore season ever because of the trash. Then again my cousin I still think is insane as he goes after thresher sharks in a Kayak. Boy done lost his marbles but does catch some monsters. -

Justin I lived in Port Saint Lousy Myself right off Prima Vista. My favorite place to fish was in the PSL Canal Spillway for Giant snook and Tarpon, I use to go to Billy Bones or Capt Jims and get all the shiners they had when the tarpon were in the canal. If the monster Tarpon were in then just go to shore and dip net up a couple dozen crabs or cast net some mullet... If the were not there the Ten Cent bridge or Old Roosevelt Bridge got a visit and then off the the power plant... Broke my heart the day they closed Big Mud Creek because of 911... A D.O.A. Bait Buster or shrimp and you could always find a tarpon or snook ready to play in there... Now you got me missing it... So many places to fish and not enough time... Oh and South Jetty Fort Pierce for Sharks -
LOL...I actually enjoy watching grebes. But slingshots are a fun Idea for people who like messing with decoys hmmmmm... RC Boat wouldnt be a good idea I run long lines on all my decoys and that could be a major issue but still fun idea.

Decided to go out to the rodent on a hunch. all week the birds have been loaded in the morning but just before sunrise the depart. So I figured lets give a couple hours in the evening a watch. Sure enough the dang things are comming in at night. I didnt want to blow the Puddler game so i was set up in a small cove i can look over the main lake but I knew Goldeneye love.. 3GE downed in 2 hours of hunting. The funnest part though was watching a grebe beat up on my decoys, I swear he would swim up peck on it and back off fast then do it again.. I even stood up to spook him and all he did was go right back to the decoy and do it again.. I was laughing one of those belly laughs so hard i almost wet myself.. Pics arnt the best quality my cell camera sucks. but here they are. And here is the insane grebe squad. Fun way to kick off the New Year.

Our licenses pay for the stocking correct? so now charged to park.. to me its a double tap... Maybe growing up in Socal and seeing this happen before makes me gunshy as once it starts it steam rolls... Look up what it cost to fish Diamond Valley Resivoir in Cali Cheif. Tapped for all kinds of stuff which to me is just wrong. I just do not want to see this area of the country becoming like that.

Nope im serious... The kelp dies off in Baja and floats north as it does the Dolphin and Yellow tail ( California Yellowtail like an amberjack) and Tuna get on them big time... Any debris gets fish on it. Best Dolphin day I ever had was on a 4x4 wood pallet. They get on it because the bait fish are attracted to it for cover. After Hurricanes Jeanne and Frances we were catching all kinds of fish on debris.. Tripple tail to Wahoo. might seem bad but in a warped way but debris = fish. Best Day on Sailfish was 22 of them right after a hurricane they were on a debris line off Stuart Florida. -

Interesting... I will bet the California Fishermen are just waiting with baited lines for this summer Debris = Dolphin, Yellow tail and Tuna... I use to get crazy when the first reports of summer came in of floating Kelp making its way to San Diego. -
User fee or Donation box... last time i was there they had a donation box .... If they go to user fee im done there that is stocked by MDC and to charge twice just rubs me the wrong way.

Vacation started Friday and managed to scratch out a few geese upon arriving at the in-laws... Saturday saw the geese putting on O2 Mask and flying ultra high but I still managed to have a white pillow of 8 snows and 2 specks. Sunday was just wrong in so many ways. I got up late 07:00 as it was raining and walked out to the truck to get a smoke and get the gun out. I never left the driveway 8 snows and 2 specks sitting on the tailgate of the truck. They were feeding directly across the bayou from my in-laws and as they would get up they would come right over the house. Could have had alot more but my wife reminded me how dead I would be if we were late to grandmas for lunch lol. Today was Lazy day around the house getting ready for the rest of the week. Im hitting Beaver tomorrow and then who knows where a week off and lots of catching up to do. Wishing everyone a Very DEAD Duck new years.
