  1. Today was another great day in the river, although be it colder and wetter. I had the pleasure of fishing with N9Bow (Eric) and Woundedone. We threw jigs consistent all day with just a shirt break to eat a sandwich. Eric nailed them all day including 3 smallmouth which will post pics later if them, they are in a video camera! I had pretty good luck on a olive and ginger jig, Eric and Woundedone had a great day with a ginger! We put in at Reds landing and there was a stretch 2 years ago I had some magic with a jerkbait. Yesterday had a little magic for an hour with my mega bass so throughly worked that stretch this time at Reds with only one good hit, but it was a 18.5 inch feisty brown!! The rain picked up and started to get colder but we stayed the day finishing strong on another stretch downstream. We left them biting catching one nearly every other cast! Just a great day and great fellowship! Jig fest was so much fun with a great bunch of guys, it was truly a blessing! I have a lot of video that I took to air on a local outdoor show here at home of this event and the fishing! I'm planning on it putting something together to share here first! Bret
  2. Great day on the water fishing with Richard Cross today. Caught over 100 together on the jig! Made a move round 11 to find some clean water again and it was a great move. Even got some good brown action on the jerkbait late in the day! Caught two 20 inchers and a 19! Great time at jig fest!!
  3. I'm bringing mine no worries!
  4. Heck no. That sounds awesome!! im gonna try to get down a little earlier than previously thought tommorow!!
  5. Phil your bringing some peanut oil still? I'll be sure that's what I bring to to fill the cooker
  6. I to got on the nanofil train, I agree with the wind and knot issues, but I can't seem to take it off my reel because of the performace of it. I love it for drifting neds in the current, I find they drift slower and stay in the zone longer because it catches less water. I to went to a mono leader, it doesn't break at the knot as much for me with the alberto, and that small amount of mono on the leader doesn't hinder sensitivy enough to matter. Like Rick, I do keep another one spooled up with mono/flouro just in case I break both my leaders on my to nano rods, that can be frustrating..
  7. Sounds like a plan my friend!
  8. I'm open to whatever. I will have boat and fish Friday and Saturday
  9. I'll do the fish Friday evening I'll have the cooker and the fish. Pete is bringing me a bag of red potatoes to do wedges as well. Anybody wants to bring some slaw and tarter sauce that would be great to. I think Phil said he's bringing some peanut oil. I'll have the rest of it Phil. I will reuse this oil. My cooker has been at church for a few months helping cook stuff for the kids on wensday nights so I want to start fresh again. I may bring a big of hush puppies as well. Les if you want to do your fried onions again in the cooker that was really good last time! Bret.
  10. Here's what I'll be frying!!
  11. Awesome thanks Phil!! I've got the fish covered! If someone wants to bring 5 pound bag of red potatoes I'll do my seasoned wedges to. Fry day sounds like a plan to me!!
  12. Yep it's due new oil again fellas. I'd do peanut oil if nobody had allergies to it. Cottonseed oil surprising enough cooks fish great thought about trying that this go round! What night you guys want the fish?
  13. Awesome Richard looking forward to it. Folks will see why I call you the human siene ha ha . I probably will be able to fish Friday and Saturday. Bringing boat and fish cooker with a bunch of flathead fillets. What night y'all want to cook the fish?
  14. Me to Rick! Looking forward to it!
  15. Fantastic day on the river fishing with Ham today! It had been awhile since we had fished together and it was well overdue! The weather was almost perfect other than a little wind round 3pm that blew through! Fishing was pretty good today, with water temps round 56 degrees they were still in the current and hungry at times. We caught round 60 fish on a variety of baits! Ham caught a dandy at the end of the day we didn't get a pic of. I've come to the conclusion if a man could fish the river once a week it could add years to their life! Very thankful to some much needed peace/ downtime! Bret IMG_1768.MOV
  16. Great topic, and Al always covers it so well. In the past several years, I've keyed in more on winter fishing 2 or 3 rivers within decent driving distance. Wintertime is the only time of year I can fish consistently due to my job. I've heard Al mention sandy areas, I experienced this last year on a river with little sand in it, there was a feeder creek out from a pasture that has deposited sand in a stretch where it drained in, there were fish there on that cold day. Al mentions the 35 degree line, in bigger Ozark rivers, they rarely get that cold, at least the ones I fish due to there streamflow sources. Creeks and smaller rivers I'm sure is another story. I love to finesse that bite in the winter, using small plastics feeling for the dead weight a lot of times instead of the thump you get when it's warmer. It might take me up to 5 minutes to work that cast depending on the current and conditions. Last year was such a warm winter, the fish seemed to be more active and not as docile. Jerkbaits as mentioned are my other main option, I carry standard models and deep diving ones and usually have one of each tied to a baitcaster. Like all I don't wait the 30 seconds between jerks that often 5 or 10 seconds seems to work fine a lot of times for me. Hope this helps a little and good luck..... Bret.
  17. Way to go Scott, awesome!! Looking forward to fishing with you soon! Bret
  18. Man hate to hear that Jeff! Prayers for a speedy recovery!!
  19. I didn't film any last year, I had just got done with harvest and just wanted to relax. But I may bring the camera again and film some for the show if you guys are ok with that. We Aired the one from 2014 and it was well received. I've had requests to do that again. I still have footage from last year of miles "white river" rendition I still need to post for Les. Just as Rick I'm very much looking forward to this again!! Bret
  20. Sweet Pete!!
  21. love the clip Seth! Have you tried the extended batteries from Wasabi on ebay yet, they will run a Gopro for 3.5 hours, especially when warm. Otherwise takes a lot of batteries don't it to run all day! You guys did well in the tounaments this year looked like! Well done!
  22. As harvest is winding down for me here at the farm, I'm getting ready to fish more! Since harvest is ending earlier I'm thinking bout doing an overnight float before it gets colder! Anybody else got any similar plans this fall! Bret
  23. Pete I'm ready!!
  24. White, olive and ginger, and brown and orange are my 3 go to colors. I like tri olive and red and blacks as well at times.
