Sticking Wires In The Ground.

A couple of years ago there was a large demonstration at Bass Pro in St Charles/Offallon. They had people there who were very helpful in showing/teaching beginners and anyone who would listen how to hold/cast/reel a flyrod. I have never held one before that and they got me feeling pretty confident in the standard and roll cast. I bought a complete model, don't know the details, from Bass Pro. The people there told me that it would catch a fish just as well as any other model. I paid approx. $80.00 for a rod, reel, and sleeve/case. The reel was already strung by the manufacturer. I have caught a couple fish on it. I have lost a few flies also. It is fun. I couldnt tell you if I lost any fish since it didn't cost me a thousand, but I am still happy none the less.

Boat Trailers & Back Pain
Daryk Campbell Sr replied to a topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
That seems too good to be true. :-) I like it. ( now I just need a boat and trailer, and storage, and .....) I have a 10' boat that fits in the bed of my truck, Please don't send me messages of your boat for sale, I can't afford it. Thanks though. -
Welcome Randy! Good luck on the forums. Good luck with the fish.

For all I know, The fish don't carry guns, nor do they know grammar. I for one am guilty of some misspellings, and run on sentences, along with Caps in the middle of my sentences. I do some on purpose to try to simulate emotion in my typing ( trying to make it sound in text as it would in speach) . I do some on accident due to the city education that I was awarded. :-) Today is a great day to fish.

In the city of St Louis, if you get caught urinating in public (even if not in view of anyone directly) you will be ticketed and added to that Sex Offenders List. Many of those "offenders" deserve to be on the list, but many do not. I can go on about this, but will save you all. I agree with Eric as far as not having any more nuts now than 50 years ago, We just have more Media. 50 years ago you would not have gotten word about a little boy from some town in Richwoods, MO who was abducted, nor about a girl from Utah. If you estimate how many children there are out there vs how many are abducted by people other than family members, your kids have a better chance of winning powerball without playing, than they do to be abducted. Let your kids live, let them enjoy the things you were allowed to enjoy. There are FAR more good people than bad.

Hey everyone, I was just sitting here thinking (after seeing a pic from Eric1978 of Conservation Agents), All fishing licenses will expire at the end of this month. May want to go out and renew now. Also a tip, if you small game hunt you can combine the licenses and carry only one. You save a few dollars by combining the fishing license with small game compared to buying them both together. Just a thought, maybe this will keep someone on here from getting a ticket.

They don't scare me as I don't consiously break any laws that they would have problems with. I would offer them a dew also. We may not use the same slang, but we could get along just fine.

Sorry to hijack, But, what is Moose Drool? Is it a local beer? The topic has been entertaining, and I will throw in my 2cents. You can get a ticket for anything any officer wants to ticket you for. It is up to you to contest the legality of it. (innocent until proven guilty, HA!). Eric, Not all Hoosiers leave glass in the creeks/rivers. Hell, Mountain Dew only comes in plastic now anyhow. Not JUST Hoosiers leave glass in the creeks and rivers. I hope that by me being a South St Louis Hoosier would not prevent us from being able to fish together. ;-) I practice Leave No Trace. " This Mountain Dew's for you "

Sticking Wires In The Ground.

JD, I have no problems with trapping, I am interested in it myself. Protecting your animals and family/household is your right. I just was turned off by the idea of a thousand tacks in the middle of the forest which, in no logical way could be picked up, and other animals would suffer pain that would possibly lead to infection and a slow painful death for no benefit to anyone. I am a small game hunter, I hunt deer and such, no luck yet. You gotta stand for something or you will fall for anything. You guys now know my stance. :-) -
Very nice Phil. What? No mention of sponsors and why their (......) works so well in helping you catch these nice fish as apposed to the others..? :-) Nice job, I will much rather watch someone who is doing it for the love of it vs someone who started because of the love of it, and got caught up.

Come on guys, its things like that, that get the PETA types in an uproar. That is "Cruel and Unusual" in my book. Remember what you were taught in ethics in Hunters Ed. Quick Clean Kill. The thumbtacks can be stepped on by many animals and shed by the coyotes that originally picked them up, and then your own pets may step on them. Not trying to ruin anyone's day, but somethings (if practiced) should not be public. -
I guess the quote "Ratings are for people who dont understand safe boating speeds and conditions" probably applies to someone like myself. I was raised in the concrete jungle, the only swimming we did growing up was at the local pool. The ponds we fished in as kids were 3 feet deep at the most, and stocked on a regular basis, and did not allow any type of watercraft. I have ventured out, but mostly fished from the banks of other areas and I have been to the Mississippi River on many trips, Just did not have access to a boat. I carried all of my tackle and rods on my bicycle. Now I have a boat and a couple of kids and I am trying to be the parent that teaches the children safety over all else. I realize that many factors come in to the CG tag and I figured it is rated low, for extra security. I will be powering with a 32lb thrust trolling motor, mostly on slow creeks and slow rivers. I just don't want to become a statistic. Thank you guys for the replys, it does give me a basis, and I guess like everything else in fishing, it will be a trial and error learning experience.

This is probably a dumb question, but anyway, here goes. I have a 1988 10' little jon. On the coast guard tag it states max weight 350 lbs gear and persons. It is approx 36 inches wide and 10 foot from bow to stern. My question is why do canoes hold 600lbs plus when they do not have such wide floors? It makes sense to me that if you are wider/deeper you should be able to displace more. I feel if you can displace more, then you should be able to hold more weight. Now physics may come into play and I am sure I am missing something in this equation. I am just wondering and maybe someone here can explain this in laymens terms. Thanks in advance.
