  1. Just goes to prove the old adage, "you don't have to catch a fish, you gotta catch a fisherman ". $1650.00 for a bait that hasn't ever caught a fish.....
  2. I wonder if he will charge shipping.
  3. Just checking in. I'm 38... lol. (Really I am)
  4. The only place that gets cleaner during the flooding than prior.
  5. We can have "JoeFest". I would be interested.
  6. Amazing opportunity. I will see if I can swing the time off.
  7. Hello, and welcome .
  8. I have an extended cab Dakota. I really worry about breaking the tips. I will give the jackets a try, also the padded band. Is that just a velcro band?
  9. All. I am possibly going to buy a new rod in the next few days or month. I have couple one piece rods, and have a hard time getting then out of the cab of my truck. They are not 7 footers. Just curious if there wad something that I am missing. I could put them in the bed, but it is open. Too easy for grab-n-go.
  10. OK, just to add to the mix. 1 piece, or 2 piece? Why? How do you store/transport the 1 piece?
  11. Very nice!
  12. ^^^took me a moment.
  13. I have actually already made a dolly/ trailer and it works out okay. Needs bigger wheels. Probably need something like a deer cart. My other problem is weight. Myself and kids just get a little uncomfortable for the small boat. I bought the Gheenoe to make it easier, now we have two and I am sure it will. Just trying to make it easier to get to a couple ponds that are not walk-in friendly. Might as well just deal. I also don't believe that I use half of the capacity of a large battery. Oh well, I ask, you answer, now to do the right thing. ;-)
  14. The battery question has been adressed a few times. Here is my twist. I have a 10 foot flat bottom Jon. I have a deep cycle 34 series and it's is very heavy. I do not trailer, and usually have to carry a decent distance. I have been toying with the idea of using a small deep cycle battery, about the size of a power sports battery. I have a 36lb thrust trolling motor. Maybe go out 4 hours on small streams. Any experience? This is probably going to be on my Xmas wish list. By the way.
  15. When I was just a kid, I fished to the city ponds exclusively. There were many ducks and geese. As a kid who was not catching anything would do, I practiced my casting by aiming at the geese and ducks. I never got one. Quite a few years later, while fishing in one of my favorite ponds, I casted out. To my surprise I finally caught one of the ducks that I had come to believe to be impossible to catch, truly by accident. Luckily for me, and the duck, a friend's dad who was also there knew that if you pulled a certain way on the leg, it would put the duck in a state that would not allow it to move. Essentially you straighten out the leg, and the duck could not move. Made it much easier to remove the hook and tangled line. That day will always be in my mind. Funny, I couldn't tell you how many times I tried to hook one. Not even knowing what I would do if I caught one. Luckily the day I did, and adult was there to guide me. Thanks Triple E, wherever you are.
  16. If you ever make it to South St Louis County, try Cafe Telegraph. It's the old Rec Room, for the locals. They have a pork chop that is charred. Looking at it I was very turned off, upon eating it, yum! Love these posts by the way. I am sorry that I have not contributed yet. DC
  17. I have been able to make a handful of short trips. The kids are getting into fishing more and more. My 10 year old has been doing well with the Ned.
  18. Haven't seen many "northern " reports.
  19. A few evenings ago, I took my new to me Gheenoe on its maiden voyage. My two younger kids and I tested the vessel. Powered by a trolling motor and old deep cycle battery we went upstream. We made it through very shallow water, and I was very pleased with the boat. We went until we were stopped by the shallow water and it just would not float, gravelly rocks were poking out, pretty shallow. We walked past the riffle, and found a large deep hole. No fishing equipment, but found some fishing litter, and trash, so we knew it must be a spot. We cleaned up, and decided that we would rerurn. Tonight we returned. There is an area to walk in to this spot so we did that. We used the Ned Rig. My 10 year old caught the first one, 12 inch spot. I caught the second one, my first Walter. I really was not sure what it was. Strange marking, snake like mouth. But the iridescent eye was my first clue. It was only 11 inches, would have thrown it back even if it was 18 inches. I casted 3 or 4 more times and had a hit, set the hook, nothing. Watched the line for a second, and it was moving, pulled up and had a fish. Reeled in my first small brown fish. He was also 11 inches. Nothing for the last half hour. The sun started setting and the Temps fell quickly. I can't wait to go in the spring.
  20. I have never joined either. I believe most items can be bought cheaper than the charges. I do like the idea of fishing with items that you wouldn't traditionally buy. When I can guarantee more fishing opportunities, I may decide to join.
  21. I want a copy. Signed by the contributors.
  22. When you catch as many as I do,it's hard to round, or estimate. Hard to forget less than 5.
  23. Due to Smalliebigs' luck as of late, I decided to try my rod at a half hour time gap and see what I could do. I started off with the Zarra Spook that I have been having great luck with, but could not get anything to give me a look. I seen the fish, they were there. I tied on the Ned with five minutes to spare. Two bass caught. This was about 3:30ish, South St Louis. They were both released. I did not measure them, first was definitely a keeper, second was short. I am not able to upload right now.
  24. Glad to see you on here. I was worried about you. Good to see you also Zarra Spook. You guys have been very quiet.
