  1. No it was planned. My dad and grandpa were adventurous as hell. Things would start off as just armchair BS talk.....and the next thing you know we were loading up to actually do it. And once started it WAS going to get done. We were actually headed for New Orleans, but bad weather, barge traffic, and some crazy tidal backwater started churning up 3-4' swells, and caused us to end the trip an hour south of B.R. What got me into boat/motor repair was realizing that it offered a WAY better life, and better pay, than professional fishing did.
  2. Here's the old bus that replaced the Peanut truck. I've told the story on here before about the float trip we took from the Salt river in MO. to Baton Rouge LA on the Mississippi when I was 9 years old. Here's the two boats that made the trip. Lots of other pics were taken, but water got to the poloroid film and ruined them.
  3. That's awesome! 😊
  4. 😅 Yep! What is the story on "Kilroy"? You see him on lots of old graffiti, and I've never known the story behind it. That old Peanut truck was around during my whole childhood. It got repainted later on, and we actually used to camp in it along the rivers. It got left on the riverbank and taken in a flood eventually.....and then they fixed up an old school bus, that also got taken in a flood on my big sisters graduation day.
  5. People just need something to blame everything, that sucks in life, on. A pond is either overpopulated with undersized fish......or the darn otters have cleaned it completely out. Finding your happy place can so rarely be accomplished ! Personally, in a fight between an otter and a 3+lb. Bass/Catfish......my money is on the fish

    What's Cooking?

After the fiasco last night, if she caught me taking pics of the glorious mac & cheese, it wouldn't be good for me. I'm just gonna eat it and keep my comments to myself. I was kinda hoping that you guys would convince me that baked mac & cheese was far superior to Kraft or Velveeta. We've actually had the same fight before, regarding baked beans.

    What's Cooking?

Sugarbritches and I nearly had a knockdown-dragout last night because she spent 30.00 and dirtied every dish in the house over some Macaroni & cheese that....well.... let's just say.... "there wasn't anything special about it". My position was: Why not just make it in a saucepan from a box? One pan to wash, and $2.99 Her position was: It's better homemade and baked in the oven. Well, you couldn't tell by the amount left over after everyone was finished eating. People were dumping the stuff off their plates into the dogs bowl....for crying out loud! That never happens with the boxed stuff! Needless to say, I slept on the couch last night, and got fed cold pancakes this morning. 🙄 And guess what's being served as a side for the pork chops tonight? Go ahead and guess! 🤪 I suppose my best move is to mention how much better it is the SECOND time around? Yeah, I got this 👍
  8. My pretty mama 🤗 Dad and Papaw, doing what they did best. Look at the GUNS on that basturd! Consider yourself lucky that you didn't have THAT keeping you in line as a kid.
  9. My folks on the way to Woodstock We're so proud of the ol'man. Look at his wasted @$$ with a Ruger pistol on his hip. Naughty Naughty Old pics are so fun. 😂
  10. Salt river? Green water? Where'd y'all used to put in at?
  11. Yeah I guess that does make sense. 👍 I can't even remember the last time I saw anything made of mink.....or any kind of natural fur for that matter. My mom had mink, rabbit, and fox coats when I was a kid. She was quite the "diva". 😎
  12. Why in the world would they have chosen Missouri for the first federal hatchery, I wonder? I wonder what the Missouri and Mississippi rivers were like before all of the mass agriculture.
  13. They just assume it it deadly, and that the animal can't recover? I find that rather hard to believe. That's not smart farming.
  14. Veterinarians should be cashing in like crazy. If they played it right they could retire soon.
  15. Why aren't dogs, cats, squirrels and mice dying from it ? I haven't even noticed a dead bird laying around anytime recently, except for the ones that break their necks crashing into our living room window.... Obviously infected with Covid I'm sure 🙄
  16. That was a tongue in cheek joke.....But in reality has the virus been tested to see if it can live through Jim Beam/Crown Royal? Or suffocated in tobacco smoke? If they determined that the virus could be halted by a barrier of such....do you think they'd announce it? I'd bet ya $100 they wouldn't. I know darn well that Carb cleaner will kill it. I don't even have to bother testing it. 😅
  17. I'd rather hear the doctors and pharmacists explain their reasons why they elect not to take it. My answer to the pandemic is to stay the hell away from people as much as possible. And to stay away from places where alot of people have been. At home, In my Shop, At the Gas station, or Fishing..... that's the list of places where you can find ME on any given day.
  18. Spotless 👍 Is that with controls and harness, or less controls/harness?
  19. Because they don't know what is in it, and don't have the time or inclination to study up on it before making a decision. How come you have never tried cocaine or LSD ? I think it would be a blast to have a 4 hour rock-hard erection.....but I'll leave the Viagra and other M.E. pills to the rest of you. 😊 Because anything that does THAT probably isn't gonna improve your lifespan much at all. Ten years down the road they might discover that those that took the (hurried) Covid vaccine are having trouble tying triple surgeons knots and can't cast straight anymore. Can't untake it. Plenty of doctors and pharmacutical wizards are opting out as well. Might be a reason why.
  20. Oh pffft ! 😊
  21. Hey, speaking of that..... I want due credit. Ask your closest Livescope junkies how excited they get about mainlake points nowadays. 😅. Told ya!!!! 😎
  22. In all honesty, nowadays, the more you crow about a certain fishing spot.....the less likely anyone is to fish it. They'll flock to the coves and creek arms that nobody ever mentions. I see that play out here on LO all the time.
  23. Interesting indeed. Alot of things related to the forming of this country just blow my mind. I mean.....prior to 1863....Who paid for it all??? There wasn't enough tax money being collected at that time to even buy a bowl of beans for a crew of railroad workers. Much less a fair living wage for all involved. Prior to drivers licenses, birth certificates, SSN's, and other forced actions there was no way to keep a thumb on people. Matter of fact, the only REAL reason that the government gives food stamps and free money to people NOW is because without having them standing there with their hands out, there would be no other way to have any control over them. Nobody, aside from their family, would even know who they were, or if they even existed. A census would be like trying to count the number of field mice in the country. They put on this humanitarian facade to make it look like they just CARE about every living person, but it doesn't take much of a brain to figure out the real reason why they "care".
  24. I'm having some trouble grasping this. Why was there a Neosho federal fish hatchery in the 1890's when there was no reasonable way to transport fish to or from there? Life back then, when you think about it, was tough as hell compared to anything post 1920. To think that anyone was even remotely concerned about sport fishing and wildlife conservation at that time is absolutely mind boggling.
  25. 😂.
