Saw this bad boy today
fishinwrench replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in General Angling Discussion Archives
When I lived in GA we rode the appalachian trail on dirt bikes. I came upon a rattler and busted the throttle when I ran over it and It ripped the snake in two. Thinking it would be cool I cut it's rattles off and hung them on the rear view mirror in my truck. After 2 days in the Georgia summer sun my truck started to smell like I had a roadkill possum under the seat. My cool mirror ornament had to go! Stupid kid crap. π -
A guy was showing off a Harley Davidson boat (Tomahawk) here at the lake this weekend. Had a Evinrude 40 on it. Pretty sweet old rig.

Saw this bad boy today
fishinwrench replied to snagged in outlet 3's topic in General Angling Discussion Archives
They must be on the move right now, several pics of Rattlers on the Mo. Fishing/Hunting facebook feeds the last couple days. I'll never forget the biggest one I've ever seen was in Monroe county during quail season. There was frost on the ground, and the last thing we expected to see was a snake.....much less a RATTLE snake. -

Woah! Head choppin' time.....if he's close to the house. -
Good deal! π And yeah, if it's an older carbed motor it will be alot less hassle. You'll just have an easy to figure out little ritual for the first start of the day.

Genuine engine failure with an inboard or I/O is pretty rare. Issues with the outdrive and transom assembly are way more common. The biggest detriment to an inboard or I/O is the fire hazard. Doesn't a day go by that several don't burst into flames. With a large fuel tank, batteries, and V6-V8 engine all stuffed down into a confined area and buried in plush upholstery....What do you expect? Get just a little too comfortable with it and skip your thorough trip checks once or twice.....and you've set a bomb. Back in the days of mechanical fuel pumps and carburetors it wasn't quite as bad, but having to pump the throttle on a cold start was just too darn inconvenient for the candy asses of today.....they had to have EFI emission controlled motors with turn key cold starts, which add high pressure fuel systems, electric pumps, O2 and MAP sensors into the mix. Great for cars/trucks, if they leak you see a puddle under it and know something is amiss. Not so in a boat, it all collects in the bilge awaiting a little spark to ignite it. Bad news! Unless you are already a pretty darn good mechanic, or you have deep enough pockets to have a good tech servicing your boat on a very regular basis (as in every week), then you have no business owning an inboard or an I/O. You're playing Russian roulette with your families lives.

Malarkey! I love their disclaimer. "Hmm, it gave up the ghost at 450 hours? ....Must not have been maintained correctly". π It couldn't possibly be that it wasn't BUILT correctly.

@Gavin I have some 78's or whatever the little pointer's are. If you want them I'll dig them out and fire them your way. They are good colors, I just don't like them. Too light to cast far enough for lake use, and I'm 100% flyguy on rivers/creeks.

Running transducer wire from transom
fishinwrench replied to wily's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
There's no easy way. Either you get lucky and the connector on the end of the transducer cable doesn't hang up on a tie strap, loop of wire, or something, and pulls right through on the first try.....Or you fight it back and forth for 2+ hours and FINALLY get it fished through there. Actually on that Lowe you can pull that rear deck panel, if needed, and shorten your cable fishing distance by about 4 feet. -
I just think the anti-Trumpers need to let it go, for their own well being. It's going to be a Trump administration for quite some time. When the old man's term is over then Don Jr. will smash the following election.

Oh....I would have never noticed. How badly did it effect you?
-
What was once great, but is no longer, because of DT?
-
Claims to ? Hell, he is! America IS great, in case you haven't noticed. π

You're mistaken. They all hang out here at my place quite a bit, and because I am the kinda guy that I am.....they speak freely and honestly. They work there for the reasons I said they did. A few actually ARE starting their own businesses.....and THAT is how they are getting it done. I don't think you realize how much some guys are willing to fork out just to have dancing bow ornaments on their Fountains and MTI's . Again.... undocumented (perfectly legal) cash. And thankfully our current President is the type of guy that is ok with that. ππ

Insults that have no foundation poured, have no effect. And his insults haven't even been staked out yet. π

You had me at βtemerityβ. π€£ A word I donβt think 1 in 10 Trump supporters could spell, let alone their hero could even correctly pronounce from a teleprompter. How come I got no credit for "audacity" earlier ? How many words that mean the same thing are we required to use in your presence?
-
Occasionally they do quit..... but then always come begging for their job back in a couple weeks. It's not hard work. It's really not even "work". It is more like throwing a party, but not having any liquor yourself until people start to thin out. The girls all want to work there because they get to show off their T&A to rich dudes. The guys wanna work there because they get attention from the chicks whenever the rich dudes aren't around. So there's your incentive. π
-
Show me the law. Then prove it. Surely you aren't accusing off duty cops of breaking the law. π² Of all the audacity!
-
The only thing turning is the propshaft.....but still, if I was going more than 5-10 miles I would rather it not spin the whole way.

I'm talking about undocumented cash here, less the hourly pay. April-October. Most are college kids, teachers, off duty cops, real estate folks.

At the hottest party spot on Lake O they have young, middle aged, and old working. The young crew members are making 250-600 per shift, but if they catch wind that one of the staff made 100+ more than they did on any particular shift.....They are immediately ready to quit. It is that mentality that will be their downfall of they don't get over it. They don't understand Give & Take. The older crew members realize that even on their worst day there's nothing else they could be doing to earn that much dough in a single 8-10 hour shift without breaking the law. And that even though they only took home 250 today, they may easily triple that tomorrow.

New to page.Need help with boat questions.
fishinwrench replied to David Ranger Cherokee's topic in Introduce yourself
Livewell and bilge pumps are a very simple circuit. Unless a person or a critter has hacked around with the wiring then it is either a bad switch, blown fuse/tripped breaker, or a bad pump. A simple test light is all you need to find out which. If you don't understand how a test light works..... it's best that you just not attempt the repair at all until you learn that first. -
Nobody's mind has been changed, so unless some crookedery goes on with vote counting......How can DT not win?
-
Have I never scolded you about wire nuts? π‘ π

It would be better if it didn't. Just throw the control box in Fwd. Gear.
