I want to do this too. What's the best time of the year to be there? Would prefer to avoid crowds but I definitely want the fishing to be good.

I have a bunch of foam cylinders in crazy colors that I ordered before I learned to just get WHITE and color them with a marker. They make great bobbers for Midge fishing. 👍

I'm normally a chill, kinda cruise the speed limit kinda driver.... mostly because I have a personality that cops and state troopers can't seem to appreciate, and any interaction with them always turns out bad for me. But last Saturday on my way to Bennett I got behind a dude in a black Chevy that was in a really big hurry and I had a guy in a white Ford behind me that wasn't gonna get left behind by a fisherman in a Tahoe. I decided that as long as I had "Rocking Chair" position I was safe from getting a court date....so from Greenview to Lebanon the three of us made record time. I never did hit triple digits but it was 95ish pretty much the whole stretch, only coasted below 85 once for about a 1/2 mile while waiting for a window to pass a group of pokey puppies. It was the next best thing to being teleported. 😀

I was watching Kelly G. do an old classic hares ear wet fly on YT and I kinda chuckled because at the beginning he said he hadn't tied one in over 20 years, and at the end of the video he says "I fish these all the time". 😂 No doubt it's a good fly, a REAL good one, but I haven't tied one in 20 years either. This got me to thinking about the flys that I truly do fish all the time, the ones whose materials are always on top of the bench because I'm always having to tie more of them. Here are mine....and I'd be real interested in hearing what YOURS are, if you aren't too tight lipped to share. Trout:. #12 Mohair freakin' leach (olive & Amber), #16 tan Trout crack, #14 olive copper John. Smallies: #2 Bulkhead Deciever, #2 Mudbug, #2 Sneaky Pete. White bass: #6 & #4 freakin' CLOUSERS, #4 gray/white & chart./wht. Bulkhead Deciever, #2 pink/wht & black/wht. Rabbit Strip muddler. Any of the above I can literally tie flawlessly in my sleep or while stone blind drunk. So, c'mon let's hear it. 😊

When Lake O gets 1ft. over full pool it goes NO WAKE (the whole lake). Cruisers and powerboats refuse to idle around anywhere. 😊 After about 3 days of that, lakeside establishment owners begin threatening bankruptcy. 😂

Yeah at age 22 a Sportster was my one and only street bike. After a few deer and dog scares, and a face full of hornet impact scars I decided that road trippin' on a bike was not for me. Longest trip was from Atlanta to Daytona and back. Never again! I don't know how guys do it.

What if you buy a lifetime permit, and then later your marriage goes to hell and you get a little behind on child support? After being divorced for 3 years my daughter moved in with me full time. CSE told me I could stop paying child support, but then about 6 months later MDC sends me a letter informing me that my hunting/fishing license was no longer valid because their records show my child support was in arrears. I was so freakin' pissed! I mean REALLY, they are keeping track of this crap? I actually had to beg my ex-wife to call CSE and request that they contact MDC to get my stupid fishing license restored. Took 4 months for MDC to send me a letter saying "ok you can fish now". Yeah right, Dickheads ! Seriously, where do they get off.....? At that point I started looking a little deeper into the $#!t they pull, and the bottom of the rabbit hole has yet to be discovered.

My daddy taught me to choose my hunting partners wisely. I always wanted to go with this dude, Mark, because no matter what the season, or critter, he always had immediate and outstanding success. Problem was that when at the range or anytime he had a gun in his hands he was always swinging his muzzle through people and had what we all considered a dangerous safety deficit. He grew up to become a state trooper..... hopefully he got some safety lessons pounded into him along the way.

Holding water like a swing trader holds onto pork belly futures.... is not putting flood control on first priority. 🤔 If flood control is priority one, then the opportunity to let water go should never EVER get a pass.

They are used to that out there, aren't they? That's what makes their deep structure fishing so awesome. It isn't like the lakes in this part of the country where everything deeper than 15ft. or so is covered in a 3' deep blanket of silt and sludge. A 35ft. ledge or rock pile out there is something a fish would actually want to hangout around.

Ok, so I dunno how things work down there, but here at LO and Truman they have been doing some crap for the last few years that made me wonder if they were all stoned or something. All they were concerned about was having Lake O at a nice friendly level for Memorial Day weekend.......But NOW since Truman almost got completely out of control this year, and I know it scared the crap out of them (even though they pretended to have it perfectly under control), suddenly they are conducting flows that make sense. That's probably what it's going to take to get their brains back on track down there. They are gonna phuck around and hold way too much water....and mother nature is gonna test their theories and engineering skills for them. I'd say that some form of politics is definitely interfering with common sense down there, but I'd be real surprised if it was for Johnny's benefit alone. JM has no reason to be greedy, and I know for a fact that he is smarter about flood control/hydro power reservoirs than that. Matter of fact, if you have genuine concerns then HE is probably the guy to share your concerns with. He ain't stupid, and he does care. He's not the enemy!

I'm good when I can do that 😉 But all the easy ones had already been picked on too much before we got a shot at them. A good number of the better fish were cruising edges of the weed beds in frog water, and it took a soft cast exactly 22 3/4" in front of them to get a bite. I've been hucking big streamers/clousers, plopping poppers, and flipping weighted nymph rigs too long, and I couldn't get calmed down quickly enough. Plus the leaders I make are not that good for little drys..... I'm working on that. 😊

Oh hell yes! Now we're cookin'! 👍 Biologists, Engineers, and Architects..... bastards, all of them ! As soon as I finish this plate of Alfredo I'll get a few shots of Devil's Cut, and we'll take this right where it belongs. 😊

I'm kinda anxious to get some more of that dry fly action myself, that was fun! Plus I need alot more practice....my dry fly skills are not something I'm very proud of. My 24 y/o daughter was doing a better job at it than I was....and I ain't exactly comfortable with THAT!
