  1. Nice one! Definitely a 3lber.
  2. https://www.cabelas.com/product/MN-BRANDS-BAIL-R-MATIC-PLUG/2583009.uts?productVariantId=5402820&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04940207&rid=20&ds_rl=1252079&gclid=CjwKCAjwmJbeBRBCEiwAAY4VVQbTcrs41h8yquKFFFOYnSoYPQAKNas1tQhWISdDysvBe6Tnq4wpchoCjooQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  3. That's like riding a tortise really fast. Here we go with the long leader thing again. 😅
  4. 4-stroke outboard winterization on a fishing boat (should you choose to) is 2.2 hours at whatever the shops labor rate is, plus the cost of materials. It entails changing the engine oil/filter, changing the lower unit gear lube, adding stabilizer to the fuel, draining the vapor separator if so equipped, or draining the carbs if not. Disconnecting the fuel supply hose, charging up the battery and then disconnecting the ground lead. Then you add a splash of RV antifreeze to the livewell drains, and blow the water out of the speedometer tubing. Charge up the trolling motor batteries and disconnect the ground lead(s) on them. Put a squirt of grease in each trailer wheel bearing to push out any water, then cover the boat up and kiss it goodnight. 😘 Expect to pay 280.00 - 320.00 P&L
  5. They may yet. Has the bridge been thoroughly inspected ?
  6. I'm beginning to understand now. I know less than nothing about fishing in the salt.
  7. A lot of casting practice for a few bites.
  8. I'd say about the same amount that died off last winter....as in None. Haul in a bunch of grapefruit to basketball sized rock !
  9. So you're tying 20# line to that little Crazy Charlie ? How long does it take THAT rig to sink a foot? Noway those little dumbbell eyes are telling that 20# tippet what to do.
  10. Well unless you're fishing a 10' rod then it would be. That's the fight that the 12' leader guy at Bennett was having. Everytime he reeled in to land a fish or dress his fly it was a major process getting all that leader clear of the tip-top. I wanted to Wade over there, whack 5 feet off his leader and help him out. Even with a 9' leader you can't put the fly on the hook keeper without putting a kink in the leader unless you do the loop around the reel thing. What is that extra 2' of leader doing for ya besides making everything a PIA ?
  11. Whose heritage are they celebrating? The folks whose property they snatched for "fair market value"?
  12. Proof that as we evolve we become smarter. No more butt hole cancer from the ink in Sears catalogs either 🎓
  13. Small patches of pads, I like. Acres upon acres of them? Ugh! 😳
  14. So.....nobody knows why 9' is the standard (most popular) leader length? And why most guys, if they alter it, go longer instead of shorter ? Me either. Interesting 🤔
  15. If you're digging the brains out of animals so you can eat it......then there was something already bad wrong with you before you ever ate them.
  16. If you've ever even walked alongside someone who was smoking a cigarette then they'll claim you died from second hand smoke .....but yet you can stand over a barrel of burning trash 3 times per week, or spend months burning leaves and brush, and the term second hand smoke never gets mentioned in the autopsy. I find that utterly amazing. 🙄 If you ever see a "health professional" with blue or green eyes, it's because he/she is currently a quart low.
  17. Since when do monkeys eat deer ? Lemme guess.....a biologist fed it to him?
  18. I got that, but surely you're not tying a size 6 fly to 20# tippet ?
  19. 20# ??? 😳 How big are the dam flys ?
  20. Good job fellas ! 👍
  21. I twist my own up at 55" using Trilene XL green. Depending on the use it is either 12#, 8#, or 6# Trilene Good enough for tippets ranging from 12# to 6x flouro. (7x in a pinch). What got me fired up about this was a guy at Bennett last weekend throwing drys on a 12' leader. He was doing ok but it got me wondering why so many guys put themselves through the fuss of dickin' with so much leader. Casting, mending, and strike detection just flat sucks with all that excess leader, so there has to be a reason.
  22. When do you think you need a 9-12' leader, and why? Personally I can't manage a leader that's over 7.5' for my style of fishing, and I prefer one that's about 80" for everything from tiny dry flys to monster bass bugs, and nymphs to streamers. So what's the alleged purpose of longer leaders?
  23. Awe, if it's rated for 10 it's good for 25 at least.
  24. Looked like success to me. 😊
  25. There are certain areas (relatively small) here on LO that always have gar sipping and slurping all year long. It makes me wonder what it is about those spots that congregate them and hold them there. Typically the bass, crappie, ect. fishing in those spots is poor.
