Rainy day, not much gonna happen today and all of the 11 rods in my bass boat are due for fresh line so I get out all the stuff and start ripping, tying, and reeling. I use backing on all my reels to conserve line and I'm going at it like I'm chopping wood, you'd have thought I was in some kinda speed line changing competition. Ok, now that you're with me here.... I'm on number 5 and have just switched the spool to 12# and am drawing a double surgeons knot tight IN MY MOUTH when WOOPS, HOLY CRAP MY TOUNGE! Yep I cinched down a little side piece of tongue meat into the knot. I'm pulling and biting at it but I can't get it off!!!!
I cut the line loose from spool and rod and go into the house, my wife is on the phone with the orthodontist office (ironic, I know), so I'm dancing around with 4 ends of 12# P-line hanging out of my mouth looking all distressed. She finally gets off the phone and I start sticking my tounge out at her while trying to explain WTF is going on (video would have been priceless). She's all "What the โฌโยขยฅ were you doing that caused THIS to happen?"
Thangin' Yine!!! Han you hit it off?!!
So first she start picking at it with her fingernail....that ain't working. So she gets a Bobbie pin, bends it into a special tool like McGuyver and manages to squeeze it under the knot. This hurts like hell and I am beginning to get light-headed. Relax your tongue, she says about 5 times, and I'm like "How the huck do you do HAT?"
Well I eventually taught myself the art of tongue relaxation and she was able to pull on the Bobbie pin and shove the section of tongue meat back out of the knot.
Absolutely hilarious NOW, but at the time things were getting a bit tense. Has this ever happened to ANYBODY else before? So by all means be careful with your knot licking because this CAN happen. ๐ฒ
