  1. The only niche I've found for the WP demands the use of the big one that you can cast 1/4 mile with. Get close to the bank and fire that sucker parallel as far as you can throw it, then just keep it coming all the way back about 5-10' from the shoreline. It's a great way to cover alot of water and pick up a bunch of (surprisingly large) bank feeders. I have watched fish follow it for 30+feet until another fish shows interest....then the follower will explode on it. I really have no use for the smaller versions.
  2. I wanna hang out with those guys! It's Brain exercise.
  3. 10 of the 12 pages are probably me running off at the mouth. 😇 I know everyone hates me when I veer from the crowd, but I get such a kick out of it. 😅
  4. Seriously though, many of you sound like you are defending your child. "He's my son so there's no way he could ever do anything wrong. Anyone who accuses him of wrongdoing is instantly deemed a crackpot". Meanwhile the jackass son sits quietly in the corner, playing Yahtzee on his cell phone, and waits for Daddy to make it all go away.
  5. I think the herd mentality has taken over once again. I'm reasonably sure that I'm not the only one on OAF that feels like LD is probably more credible than he is being given credit for. Since the MDC remains quiet regardless of allegations and is always assumed to be using funds wisely and operating in a right & proper fashion, then I'll add to my side of the fence all whom also remain quiet in this discussion. Thereby we overwhelmingly outnumber you, and accept victory in this debate. 😎👍
  6. Unless you're like my buddy who pulled one out of the quiver, hit his string and exploded the bow while 25' up in a tree. 😂
  7. What's the budget? Do you need controls also? I have a good Evinrude 35
  8. Pretty much like any other lower river section. Slow, boggy, and looks way better on the surface than it does below.
  9. All that stuff is still out there on the deep-dark-web. I googled "fishinwrench" once and about 160-some pages deep was the old Conservation Cafe threads, Riversmallies stuff, #twistedrootwad, Drake fights, Flytying forum stuff from AGES ago, Crappiedotcom pics from the tornado that tried to eat me, and stuff from the old Aroundthelake.com forum. (On dial up, before we all had cell phones). Hell there's even a profile from a dating site out there for all to see. Thank dog my email has changed since then!!!! As best I can tell there's never been another fishinwrench anywhere in the world. I'm pretty special! (and extremely mouthy) 🙂
  10. Sounds really cool. I've never even heard of them, or him. Checked out the link but I couldn't find anything on there that explains what they do, or what they have accomplished other than to have meetings about stuff. (gathering and disseminating technical information). If they actively make changes then that is great. Good job! Seriously! I wish they'd get the tax % instead of youknowho. We did water quality studies through Stream Team but to my knowledge there hasn't been any hog/turkey farms, RVPark, or slaughter house effluent cleaned up because of it. I stopped participating because our findings seemed redundant, so now we (our team) just picks up trash. I mean without any samples we already knew the water quality was deteriorating, and we also knew why. The hope was that something could/would be done about it.....I reckon not.
  11. If he was instrumental in improving water quality ANYWHERE then he has my vote. Phil? OMG, he's more full of BS than anybody! 😊
  12. Has he ever fixed anything, or just determined that there was a problem like LD does? 😂
  13. Ok who's your candidate then?
  14. Who is then ? I wouldn't mind him being on the force. Not a Captain, but on the force? Heck yeah. According to you guys he is finding BS even when there is none. Surely if there really was some he'd find it. No?
  15. Ain't she a pretty dragon..... sometimes?

    What's Cooking?

Here ya go. She does the 400° oven bake before serving. That way they aren't all slimey and messy. Delicious! The wing queen
  17. "These kids today, don't even know how to tie down their punkins. Well when I was a youngun I could.......Wait a minute...I never tied down any punkins! Hey boy, what are you tying down a punkin fer?"
  18. I don't "support" him. Matter of fact the only time I ever saw him speak I walked out after about 10 minutes. I suspected insane amounts of wasted funds by the MDC years before LD started crowing about it. "Wasted" to me, simply means that I believe the funds should be used to do other things. For example: To ME the money spent collecting beetles, going hog-wild on raising Spoonbill, and using 3/4 ton fully loaded trucks to haul around nothing but laptop computers could be better spent improving Smallmouth habitat and taking measures to police illegal gigging (for starters). They keep inventing new things to spend lots of time & money on while so many other TRULY IMPORTANT things get put away unfinished, and I know that the NEW things will get put away unfinished too. The things I wish they'd stay focused on should be important to YOU and everyone else here too. My complaint is valid IMO and I'm surprised that nobody else here agrees and thinks I should just SUPPORT them when they have a long standing record of going through money like a hot knife through butter and never finishing anything they start.

Steering is not the place to cut corners and get off cheap.
  20. Sounds good, I'm having one right now. 😃👍
  21. I have a huge problem with the whole "freedom of speech" thing. Early in my life I remember my mom teaching me that if it was written as non-fiction and published by a reputable source then the words were factual. I think that used to be true (back in the day) but it certainly isn't anymore. It's actually becoming harder and harder to learn things because it's impossible to know whether or not the information you are absorbing is good or not. Even the service manuals approved by the manufacturers of the engines I work on are wrong much of the time. Face it y'all, we are living in a world full of BS. And we badly need BSPolice. None of us know WTH we are talking about because we are all being taught 2nd and 3rd hand BS. It's not a matter of truth anymore, it's a matter of what you've decided (or been programmed) to believe.

    What's Cooking?

I get two small bites of good meat from a thigh, the rest is that weird colored meat between bones, and slimey fat. Disgusting. We do chicken breast kabobs with green pepper/onion/mushrooms/pineapple, or baked breasts seasoned in either lemon pepper/butter or garlic/butter, or a yummy chicken stir-fry. My wife does hot-wings that are out of this world (some recipe she got from a restaurant in Omaha years ago). I'm usually mildly disappointed in fried chicken unless it's KFC on a really good night. Nobody in my family ever did master fried chicken, not even my Mamaw, but when it's done right it's amazing. Had fried chicken in a dirty little diner in Mississippi once that was so unbelievably delicious that it spoiled me. Thirty-some years ago and I still long for the flavor of that chicken they served there. I don't even remember what town it was but we ordered a box of it to go after eating lunch there and lived on it for 2 days. So freakin' good you didn't even wanna throw the bones away.
  23. Something terrible! I'm really surprised that OT hasn't gotten the memo on that. Excellent canoe until you consider those seats.
  24. The cafe and Riversmallies (in the early days) pretty much formed my online personna. You didn't last long around either of those places if you were easily offended or intimidated.
  25. My place sits at an elevation of 704.8 The lake elevation is 660ish and less than 1/4 mile away. My well pump is only 70' down. I can almost pull my pump by hand, just have to use a bumper jack for the first 3 sections of pipe.
