  1. If my wife ever serves you a bowl of her delicious potato soup.....Sneak up on it !!! The center of those chunks of taters hold heat like nothing I've ever seen.
  2. We did a lot of fuel experiments when I was attending MMI. There's nothing that you can put in gasoline, short of very old diesel fuel, or powder paint (the kind used for jigheads), that will cause it to "jell up".
  3. I have customers bring their boats in all the time saying "I ALWAYS get non-ethanol fuel"....... I test the fuel in the tank, and guess what ? 8-12% every single time. 😅
  4. The only issue I see with ethanol blended fuel is that it has an expiration date. After 10 weeks it has noticably degraded, and motors will not perform well on it. Even if kept in a sealed container. In vented tanks I'd say about half that amount of time.
  5. I love it when that happens. 😊
  6. Y'all
  7. Oh I'm sure. My answering machine app converts voice to text.....and reading some of those messages is a genuine comedy show. A Mercury Lower Unit is a "mercy lariat". And the customers name is "Willow on ballsack". Possibly an Indian ? 😅 Nevertheless, Willow on Ballsack was looking to buy 200 Mercy Lariat's ! 😳 That's a lot of lariats for one Ballsack. But guess what?..... I just happened to be a cowboy that could hook him up 🤙
  8. Let me just say that while it's all interesting, and kinda fun to know when you're in a riffle looking at the bottoms of rocks...... it's also basically useless information when it truly comes to choosing and tying flys, & catching fish. Having that education can actually be detrimental, in the sense that you'll often try to overthink many situations.
  9. That USED TO work, but they changed the rules about 10 years ago. Call the DMV and ask them.
  10. I can envision "spell check" leading to all sorts of drama.
  11. No, but it is unethical to block access to slips and/or gas docks. And you can certainly get into trouble for bouncing jigs off of boats, or ripping hooks out of any dock carpeting.
  12. Yeah, they might as well be invisible.
  13. Whether you believe it or not is of no concern of mine, but I have positively ID'd them myself..... And actually pryed their mouth open to look at the fangs. The same rivers "north of the range" that hold Smallmouth Bass also have Cottonmouth.....and they are far from rare. They have Hellbenders too (or at least they did when I was younger). I agree about the misidentification thing around ponds and strip pits though.....Seen/heard that so many times that it is annoying. But around the rivers they are there. Honestly.
  14. When they started blasting and moving ground during construction of Cannon Dam they unearthed a surprising number of Timber Rattlers. The biggest I know of was killed by a bird hunter in late November and there was frost on the ground that morning. There were 9-11 buttons on its rattle.
  15. I can 100% verify that there are cottonmouth and timber rattlers at least 4 counties north of those lines. What I can't verify is ANYONE that has ever been bitten by one. Copperheads however, I know numerous folks that have been hit by them...... including myself. I think mine was a dry bite though, because the shot made me feel WAY sicker than the bite did.
  16. As was the gull that took my Pop-R Spastic screaming bastard ! Stomped him into a pile of bloody feathers on the deck of a Champion bass boat, and permanently stained the carpet.
  17. Good grief ! 😳 I was sitting at the kitchen table the other night, and caught some movement in my perifial vision. Looked over and almost had a heart attack...... HUGE SPIDER ! Big as a pie plate. 😱 The closest weapon I could find was a St.Croix rod tube, and it took 4 stabs to get him pinned down where I could finish him off with a 12 pack of Diet Coke. I'd rather have a house full of Rattlesnakes than to know that SOB was in the house.
  18. You know it's maxed out anyway, don't worry about it. 😉
  19. Man, that bug thing IS a bit ridiculous isn't it ? It was like that on a Canadian trip we took when I was a kid. Not sure how long a person would have to live up there in order to get "used to that".
  20. Just out of curiosity......How often do the guide vessels on Taney get pulled up on, and the passengers licenses get checked ?
  21. If more folks learned that you can do that with spoonbill in the creeks during Spring I think it would really start something. 😉 Spoonbill on a fly rod are a hoot !
  22. Me either. Nor any other Lake O feeder. The Niangua is it. Tavern creek, below bagnell, is loaded with'em.
