  1. Your insurance agent hosed you. Boat, motor, trailer, should be insured separately (your agent knows that). They are licensed separately and you pay personal property tax on each separately if you're in Mo. A 5k deductable is outrageous. Never even heard of that.
  2. Well then, you may be in luck. The shaft is less than 550.00 If it just broke from "metal fatigue" and no hard impact then gears and bearings should be fine. Replace shaft and away you go. 1250.00 tops with fresh seals and a new water pump.
  3. Ok those prices are good then. No changes since 2008
  4. We saw a few pelicans here right after the Texas hurricane, but they only stayed around for a day. These that are here now will be here all Winter most likely.
  5. Both + the gulls are usually here before Halloween, but things are running a bit late this year I think. Not much latitude/longitude difference between here and Truman though, so who knows.
  6. They don't fish where I fish, so no worries. When at Bennett I stay in one of the only 2 stretches where getting to the water requires some effort, and the wading is a bit on the sketchy side. I've learned that if there's even a remote chance that you might bust your ahz then you stand a good chance of having that spot mostly to yourself. Or if there's anyone else there they are pretty cool to fish with.
  7. I take the river Jon boat when I'm exclusively fly-fishing so I can get across and above the flats, and it is minus any electronics so I'm not sure on water temp, but I'd say low/mid 60°'s up here. The whites would definitely be up in there by now if they hadn't sucked the lake down so far. The coots and gulls haven't showed up yet. Pelicans arrived Thursday for the first time. Still seeing turtles so there's still time for it to happen.
  8. Who are they, and what are they about? Is that the ones that deck themselves out in 3k worth of attire just to stand ankle deep at the outlet, smoke giant cigars, and drift glo balls under a bobber?
  9. What's the official start date of c&r ? It's just Fridays thru Mondays right?
  10. Replacement (reman) lower unit is a little over 3k OEM replacement is over 4k So how much was that deductable again?
  11. Need the year, model# and serial#.
  12. Depends on the degree of damage. No way to estimate it without fully inspecting it. If it hit hard enough to twist/bend/break the driveshaft or propshaft then the gears need to be magnafluxed to ensure there's no fractures, and the other shaft and splines need to be inspected. Deductable (or most of it) can be covered. This is what we pay premiums for. I assume you trashed the prop? Surely the deductible isn't more than that.
  13. Oh I bet it is. Those fish are probably just tired of seeing wacky worms, jigs, spinnerbaits and flukes. I'll loan you a flyrod and a couple of these streamers if ya want. I plopped that Airhead fly down next to a dock at the mouth of a shallow cove, gave it a little jerk, and 7-8 came shooting out from under it, fighting over it. I caught 3 of them before the others figured out it was a snack that bit back. They were all shorts but two docks further into the cove was one that looked 15-16" that shot out, sucked the fly in and blew it right back out before I could set the hook. Have had that happen a bunch. Ya gotta be fast!
  14. Don't forget that you're more than likely insured for impact damage.
  15. Couple of good ol'boys there. Pretty good stuff, I must admit.
  16. No luck on the Whites yet (still) but the green bass, for me, are getting easier to catch every day. The flys I'm throwing are something they never see, so I think that has something to do with it. Everything of decent size that I'm catching is coming from 6' and shallower, and there has to be some wood cover nearby. Lots of shorts just laying under dock corners. I don't understand why the Whites aren't crashing stuff better. I know where they are.....they just won't chase and bite for me.
  17. Ketchup, my wife had a similar upbringing. Her parents are all straightened out now but there was a 10-12 year period of her childhood where she had to fend for herself for the same reasons you mentioned. As a result she is very independent, and one hell of a good cook. My folks were quite the high class partiers too, but they were pretty well to do so me and my siblings never were deprived of anything until we got out on our own and had to learn how to scratch out a living for ourselves. Once we left the nest we were pretty much cut off.
  18. Hey, the more people out carp fishing the better as far as I'm concerned. Carry on. My only issue is that you throw carp crap into posts about more desirable fish. Can't visit here without getting carp slime on me. It's annoying to quite a few here I think, but you don't seem to care....so I guess we'll just have to learn to live with it. Gonna take some time that's all. Some days I can tolerate it better than others. I'm sure some feel the same about me.
  19. That confidence was shallower than I thought. You were the one that said "everybody knows". I was just calling you on that. Now you fold. I still respect ya. <high-five>
  20. I don't think so. Lefty probably caught carp long before he ever caught a bonefish, so why wouldn't he nickname the Bones "Chrome carp" ? We all know why. There's no denying that fish are divided by race. And this "Carp Lives Matter" anti-segregation movement that you're picketing about just seems like such a waste of time to me. You're a cool dude and I hate to see you piss your life away for a lost cause. Asian carp are at the bottom of the list, and the other carp species are right next to them. Try as you may you'll never even see carp elevated above gar or freshwater suckers, except on waters where no other fish are present. So c'mon, let's get you a new (better) screen name and shift your focus over to something worth fighting for.
  21. You seem confident, but I'm not convinced. Can we start a poll ?
  22. I dunno, are you shocked that I make more sense than you do? If so then yeah.
  23. I haven't heard that version. What I heard was that the car was pulled over for a "routine stop", the driver hopped out and ran into the woods. A manhunt is underway and helicopters have been circling the Camdenton and Osage beach area for days. They only mentioned the credit cards, no mention of cash, ammo or passports.
  24. Did I make the list ? Somebody quote me on that to make sure he sees it.
