Since I've seen guys throw two 5-wire rigs hooked together I'm sure you are right. I'm a recent convert to the rig but I don't think you'll do any better with more wires and dummies. Seems to me that the trigger is a manageable group of shad separated from the massive densely packed school of baitfish. So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that any more than 5 plus a few spinner blades is doing more harm than good.

If I didn't have buddies to tell (brag) about my successful days, and minds to pick (shoulders to cry on) when I was having trouble getting fish to bite, I'm not sure that I'd love fishing near as much. I like fishing alone, but I don't wanna live a fisherman's life alone. Ya just gotta talk about it to somebody. Hearing that somebody tore 'em up on the Meremec doesn't make me haulazz to the Meremec, but it might make me want to get on MY river and try some of the same things I was told about.

It's a difficult (near impossible) balance. A river needs enough friends to ensure that it is taken care of and treated properly, but not so many friends that it becomes over used.

WelI maybe someday we'll start scoring all (or most) of these "tournaments" in a better way. The whole "I can catch 1lb.2oz. more fish than you can today......but probably not tomorrow" thing is getting stupider to me every year that I keep breathing.

I've heard about this all my life it seems, but have never caught a fish that required "fizzing". So making a hole in the fishes swim bladder so that air/water can escape into its body cavity is doing the fish a favor ? Has anyone ever tracked a fish after one of these procedures to verify its future health ? Poking the needle in, and then pushing it backwards seems like it would tear a hole in something inside it. "Barotrauma"

Here's the thing though... Guys with boats so nice that they don't want to scuff the keel, also don't want a scuff on their Keel Guard. I have yet to see a keel guard that gets used as a keel guard. It is just more bling.

Y'all haven't experienced a true clique forum until you've been to the Drake flyfishing board. You won't get banned from there but they'll let you know that you're not welcome to speak right away. Some wicked smart and talented dudes there, but the arrogance is thicker than a sleepover at the Rockefeller's.

Expensive waders last longer because you take better care of them. Turn them inside out to dry, roll them up neatly, and all that nonsense. If you pamper those 80.00 Hodgeman/BPS/Cabela's affordable waders like that then they'll last quite awhile too.

I kinda have to agree with you about planting brush, especially when it's intentionally planted on a ledge within a mile or so of a release area. There are some dandy's here that everyone might as well know about.

Yeah we thought about using the daily newspaper, but in truth we all trust each other. And as I said there's no way to change the date/time on phone pics. They don't lie.

There is 7 of us that already do it. We start a group text before heading out and report our weights as we catch them (score tracker style). Snap a pic of the right side of each fish (time stamp on the pic matches the time of the text update). We only had one issue when one of the guys didn't get a couple of text updates and thought he was better off than he was, but that was easily ironed out later to everyone's satisfaction. Is it possible to cheat? Sure. But it's possible to cheat any other way too. It does cause you some anxiety when you're not catching them and your phone keeps dinging. ?

Yeah, so we can just choose whether or not we wanna play the game. I don't care one bit about how guys get their info. or whether or not A-rigs are allowed. All I care about nowadays is the constant hauling around and relocating of the fish. If they ever stop doing that I will probably start competing again.

By your rules anyone with more information or experience should be automatically banned from participating. Whether they bought the information, was fed it for free, or earned it the hard way is absolutely uncontrollable. Fish don't care if you skip church.

Bass jigs are either GP or Blk. Swimming grub heads match body color. Unpainted heads work on anything.
