  1. Hell to the Yes, bro. I think we should also support every crackhead, coke dealer, buzzed driver, Smallie filleter, wake boat operator, and BIOLOGIST until they give us a valid reason why we shouldn't as well. It is 2016....Let's stop spreading the blankets of hate. I'm onboard.
  2. That actually happens quite a bit on the Osage. There are times that the first 50-60 yards below the dam, and all the backwater eddy's from the dam to Tuscumbia are absolutely loaded with them. If you could toss a Dupont spinner in the middle of them you could kill a semi-truck load real quick.
  3. I got my butt handed to me once by a guy nymphing a #16 Adams dry. I had worked a riffle/run over real good and only caught one fish, the dude came in behind me with that drowned Adams and totally cleaned up.
  4. Yep, now we have a tablecloth that I keep getting yelled at for mistreating. Gonna recruit Oldplug to help sand and refinish the table this Spring
  5. Ya know, I hear this alot about how their job is so dangerous... blah blah blah. Gimme a break! While I don't intend to make light of what they do, take a moment and look at it this way.... LEO's are highly trained, have all the coolest weapons and toys, and have instant backup available at anytime they think they might need it. I see being a cashier at a convenience store, or a truck driver, mailman, or a member of a road crew as being a hell of a lot more "dangerous" than being a cop. But I never hear anyone crow about the daily risks to THEIR safety. Hell, us lowly boat mechanic's walk a pretty sketchy line pretty often too. I never know what kinda bomb I'm sticking my head into. I could blow myself up easily tomorrow, and for what? Just so some nimrod can get to his fishing hole faster. Cry ME a friggin' river would ya !
  6. I brought crabs into my house once, it turned out well.
  7. OK I gotta share my favorite "back in the day" cop story. Me and a couple buddys were cruising town stoned as hell, we pulled into Hardee's and as we got out a cop who was driving thru stopped to say hi. Our eyes all looked like two pissholes in the snow and I know we reeked of Columbian. He says "Sims have you been doing burnouts?" I said No, Why? He says "well your clutch smells really hot, I think I'll follow you home just to be sure you make it ok, then I think you boys should just stay put the rest of the night". It took a few seconds for me to recover from the headrush and comprehend what he REALLY was saying. Then I just squeaked "OK" and he escorted us back to my folks house, looked at me really stern and said "Get rid of that BAD CLUTCH before it gets you in trouble, ya hear?". Yes Sir.
  8. Most, no ALL of my attitude about LEO's comes from small town officers and overzealous county jackasses that I assume are inflicted with some kind of superiority rush. I guess it stands to reason that podunk towns/counties end up with the worst of the worst when it comes to lawmen. It's like the dudes just don't have enough to do and get antsy. With the exception of the sherrif (who is a really good guy) you can't even get these dickheads to smile and wave around here. To the cops around here EVERYONE is a potential felon. You wave and they look at you like you just flipped them off and may just follow you awhile and run your plates. Seriously I fear the local crackheads less than I fear the law dogs. They are jerks, for no good reason. In the town I grew up in the police and county guys were all salt of the earth good people. The few scraps I had with them were totally deserved, and after I was "straightened out" they went right back to being decent again. That's the way it should still be.
  9. You're alright. It is frustrating though, having grown up under one régime and being forced to live under another. It really doesn't effect me personally anymore but what I see around me still makes me sad. Life can be tough for awhile sometimes, for a variety of basically innocent reasons, and it doesn't help when there are black & white vultures out there circling, running your pedigree every chance they get and just waiting for the opportunity to start ripping your guts out. Instead of saying "Hey man, I see you're going through a rough spell, what can I do to help?".
  10. You can think of it as ignorance if you want, that's fine. I was raised during a time when cops didn't operate the way they do now. They were friendly, helpful, had a sense of humor, and they actually CARED about people. And I just can't recall the vote or request that changed all that. Enforcement of the law has changed from being a service to being a very VERY lucrative business, and in many cases a very corrupt corporation. As far as I know not a single tax payer ever requested that. Our prisons are full of non-violent offenders and bondsmen and lawyers are making way too much money way too easily. If I were to call and report a burglary or report something stolen there would be no investigation or chance of recovery, I'm just given a report to forward to an insurance co.. But if because of a burglary/theft I get behind on child support you'll be out there to pull me over for a "license plate light" and then throw me in jail. So you see, for every life you claim to be saving..... You are ruining 25-50.
  11. "Invasive species" is kind of a PC play on words isn't it ? If you go kidnap something and relocate it, then you are the invader.... not the victim. It wasn't the carp that invaded us, they had no choice in the matter. If I go out alley cattin' and give my wife the crabs then who is the bad guy? The crab?
  12. On the same....Officers should not forget; that love them or hate them boaters/drivers/regular people are human too, and legitimately just out enjoying their freedom and the things they work for. If we feel we need a cop....we'll call you. Until then, just go have a doughnut, and stop with the gestapo tactics on folks that aren't bothering anyone.
  13. Get your hands on a 5'6" (light action) BPS Micro-Lite and try it for dock shooting. Not sure if it is the blank or the high profile guides but those rods shoot really good.
  14. I know where you were. If you do it again holler and I'll show you around.
  15. That's the reason I don't care much about fishing the Osage anymore. If there are Asian's anywhere nearby then you can't make a cast without spooking every fish for 50 yards. They freak out so bad that they alert everything that swims.
  16. They do seem like very fragile creatures. If you even drop one in the boat or toss one on the ground they spew blood and chunks everywhere. I've never seen a nastier fish.
  17. I'm not disputing that Arkansas fish farmers had them. I'm just saying that they weren't the first ones to bring them into the U.S. and release them into U.S. water.
  18. You are too, you're blaming a single fish farmer from Arkansas. And not because you're in touch with any "truth", it's just because I bug you. Hell, you might as well blame Marty's dad, or the Pope, or anyone except someone that ever passed a biology exam. Because your whole argument isn't aimed at truth, it is only aimed at trying to debunk anything and everything I have ever said or implied. I get under your skin and for some twisted little reason that brings me joy.
  19. Just need to get Ham and his Tenkara gear busy on this one....
  20. Really? Gonna blame it all on a single poor old Arkansas fish farmer ? Must have been a rich one.....bought his own jet, holding tanks and all just to clean up a few ponds. Would have been less expensive/less trouble to dig new ponds. Whatever dude. You humor me too. So now that we've settled THAT.....Who sold the REPUTABLE SOURCES the story (lie?) about the sewage treatment outflows down south ? And why would they wanna direct blame away from the fish farmer? You do realize that if we find out the fish farmer had a degree in biology that YOU still have to buy the doughnuts, right ?
  21. Did ya pick up on the key word there? Biological Your Arkansas fish farmers didn't come up with it on their own. Nor did they have the resources available to collect and transport across the big pond. There WERE biologists with big fat degrees stinkin' up the place first.
  22. Study hint: I suspect you are searching using the word "Asian". Do you know their real names ? Search form Search Back to Results PREV Bighead Carp - 12 of 11 Why were bighead and silver carp brought here? Bighead and silver carp were imported to the Southern United States in the early 1970s as a method of biological control in wastewater treatment plants
  23. Yeah the wide open area at the access is deceiving. Once you get around the corner in either direction it gets narrow, skinny, and usually choked with wood.
  24. Glad you got out ! Lots of water being moved around. I haven't a clue. The water up here was starting to clear up a bit....but then it turned murky again. The brown stain seems kinda permanent. Plenty of shad shallow but why are they so small ? Can't find the bigger shad anywhere.
  25. Hey jackass, if you are gonna argue with me then do your own research. Don't request that I do it for you. They were first brought here to clean up the tail end of sewage treatment facilities, and I am gonna stand on the side that says a BIOLOGIST (with a degree) was the mastermind of that. Show me that there wasn't a biologist involved.
