  1. Pro fishing has gone totally stupid. I hobknob with a group of full-time pro anglers, but I dare not mention any of them or openly repeat anything I hear.....Yet they all (well, most of them) are active social media butterflies who occasionally talk in code on their respective channels......and get lambasted for it. I'll tell ya what they remind me of, is a bunch of law enforcement officials whispering in private about all the underhanded crap going on that can't be "leaked". The pretentious BS that I 💯% won't stand for, is the facade that college and highschool anglers want to be brought into this fold......NO THEY DON'T! And if you have a kid in your family that is in any way being coaxed (or funded) in that direction, do them a huge favor and do whatever you can to stand in their way. Teaching kids to fish is very cool, but encouraging kids to enter the world of competitive angling is probably worse than anything right now. It didn't used to be like this, and it sucks to see. I keep thinking that it can't continue on this path for very much longer before it implodes...... but I've been thinking that for way too long. 😔
  2. We have "Emergency Responders" around here. They get brand new vehicles every 3 years, and they drive around like their butt is on fire all the time. Burn up a tank of gas every single day. Park right next to the door and never shut their trucks off because.....well there's just no time to START A TRUCK!!!! To my knowledge they've never saved anyone or anything. They direct traffic, that's about it. Aren't even "authorized" to drag dead deer off the roads 🙄 yet they walk into the gas station & restaurants like they should be the most respected members of the community.
  3. I guess the most 2024 thing about this is that you waited to take pictures of it burning, before PUTTING IT OUT ! The things people will do to entertain their Facebook followers. I'm at a loss for words 🥴
  4. Otherwise known as a "Lawn mower" ?
  5. A Sea Dog prop wrench is the greatest grate clearer ever devised. Nothing pops a stuck rock out of a jet pump grate better. 👍
  6. Am I the only idiot that can't visualize what kinda "shredder" we're talking about here ? 🤔
  7. I never understood why they built them to look so tough & rugged back in the day 🙄 Pretty sure they are cushioned with closed cell foam now. 👍 So finally they can live up to their looks.
  8. I don't spend hours picking up trash, but everywhere I go I pick up something, it's become a habit. Bending over is good exercise. So do my kids, so please don't say "NO ONE ELSE WILL". 😔 The times and places where we actually have to look harder to find something to pick up are becoming more frequent......so people are getting better👍 Let's not fail to acknowledge that.
  9. The Superbowl and the Bass Masters Classic.... Two events that I'm highly interested in, but have no desire to attend. The coverage of both events is better on TV than it would be in real life.
  10. I've seen guys dick around at rebar after the horn sounds......as if they have all the time in the world. One trip below Buford dam cured me of THAT. And I wasn't even that far from the bank. All they had there at the time was a guy standing on the dam with a whistle.
  11. Oh Lord no, that'd just swell his head, then he'd never go away. 😔
  12. Dang it I hate to agree with FW Wow🤔 Am I really "that guy"? 😳 What terribly wrong or improper things have given me that classification?
  13. Red tails, Red shoulders, Tan, Brown, Speckled, ect. I don't know how many actual different species we have. I kinda assumed that they look different depending on their age. They all seem to act the same, make the same noises, and are all about the same size and shape, and have the same diet. All are just freakin' Hawks to me. Pardon me, but I'm sick of all of them. 🤷‍♂️
  14. If the safety of the people is to be the primary focus then the Best Move would be to completely gate the place off. Common sense, and a certain amount of awareness should be a non-negotiable requirement. 👍
  15. We're lousy with hawks here on the Westside of Lake O. Their M.O. is to soar high and focus on the roads, and when they notice something cross a road.....they let out a screech and HERE THEY COME ! They work together like packs of wolves. If they'd focus on feral cats it would be great, but they tend to focus solely on rabbits, squirrels, snakes, and box turtles. I'd love to declare war on them, and I just might do that when I feel I can get away with it. 😎
  16. Yeah they used to spray the backends of coves with DIESEL FUEL of all things 🙄 before somebody decided that wasn't so smart. Couldn't have a prominent vacation spot that was overrun with mosquito's.
  17. This guy here cracks me up !
  18. In all reality, those sirens blaring wouldn't have changed the outcome any.
  19. The tornado sirens go off every time a dark cloud passes overhead, but the ONE TIME an F-3 took my house and shop......No Siren! Imagine that. 🤷‍♂️
  20. Clever play on words there. 👍
  21. If MDC doesn't put a restriction on their lakes that are big enough to put a boat in....the livescopers are going to hurt them bad.
  22. That'll teach ya to rely solely on somebody else. They don't put signs on the ramps when they are icey either. Sometimes our toaster doesn't pop-up when the toast is done, so I can't even stay home and be safe. 😳 Sometimes people's brake lights don't work ! Gotta PAY ATTENTION ! Totally ridiculous 😅
  23. Oh please! 🙄
  24. I raised 3 labs that were a joy to bring up, and I could take them anywhere with me. But this peckerhead I have now has been a total PIA since he was about 7 months old. I love him to death, but the second I turn him loose he just doesn't care whether he pleases me or not. He's only a "good boy" when he knows he can't get away from me. So he lives 80% of his life either in the house, or on a leash.
  25. Old Peabody property? Didn't realize there was any still out there that hadn't already been snatched up. What a lot of the old coal pits lacked was shallower spawning areas. Steep sided strip pits can only sustain the number of fish that can reproduce themselves. The ones with decent shallow areas, on more than one side, can be awesome fisheries.
