  1. I need a pair (or more) of 4600 series reels. If you have any that you'd like to part with I'm ready to drop a check in the mail. No prob if they are dirty as long as all their parts are intact. Thanks!
  2. So can we just demote all these biologists back down to agents, and put them out there enforcing the rules that were written long ago, instead of STUDYING for new rules that still won't be enforced?
  3. It's true. Lots of guys, myself included, kinda go nuts after a tough day. Seems you always know what you SHOULD HAVE DONE after you are back home reflecting on your day. Unless I get lucky and my initial hunches prove correct it almost always takes me 3 days to put a solid reliable pattern together that is worthy of competition. If I only get to spend a day and a half per week...then I only have a 50/50 chance at best of even getting a limit.
  4. Not really. Lots of baits catch shorts predominanly. The only controversial issue is the amount of hype that has been (purposely/intentionally) generated about it.
  5. So after all of this what have we learned? I don't feel any smarter than I was before the study and I am not expecting any regulation changes...so what was the point, other than giving a group of biologists something to do ?
  6. I use it for tippet material on Bass and Temperate applications. It's good stuff but I don't know how manageable it is on casting/spinning gear. I haven't liked any of the 100% flouro lines on my gear rods. I prefer the co-polys for that. P-line CX premium is my fav.
  7. Sounds like they are working behind a biologist.
  8. Somebody go check on that dude. Seriously.
  9. The bashing is only relative to the ever increasing hype. Some folks are easily impressed, others are less so. Anytime anything related to fishing starts making its way into every conversation you are gonna have those that get sick of hearing about it and start verbally knocking it. That's life.
  10. I see bass (LM and SM) as basically Homebody's, and each hole/stretch is its own system. You can't really judge or categorize a complete river since upper/middle/lower are always so different. Every time you cross a riffle or round a bend you are fishing a new body of water.
  11. I was on LO. We have had some torrential downpours and crazy lightning here lately.
  12. Was crappie fishing and had a 5lb. bass eat a crappie head first that I had hooked. I mean he ATE IT, the crappie was halfway down his throat with my jig attached. I couldn't get it backed out so I just cut the line and let him have it. Then (same day) it happened AGAIN but the bass let go at the boat. After that I went and bought the dusty crappie patterned Bagley crankbait I had remembered seeing at the tackleshop, but I never got a sniff on that stupid thing.
  13. I see a Lund sticker on the back of that truck, you know what that means ? It means you have a boat that needs worked on. I love the barter system
  14. I wanna bash it BAD but I'm afraid to. Every time I claim something is total BS I end up dependant on it in the end. Just watch....In a few years I'll have a 4-stroke outboard that runs on Seafoam, my daughter will be a biologist, and my best friend will be a cop. Never fails!
  15. Im bucking for a sponsorship deal Seriously though, If I could choose the way I was gonna die then a lightning hit while fishing would be about the best way to go I think. When I get a little nearer to my last days I'm gonna start fishing in every thunderstorm that rolls through here.
  16. Did I ever tell ya about the time Tarantulas (Wolf Spiders?) were jumping out of trees? Scariest float I've ever been on. I guess they just do that under certain conditions. Hope I'm never on a river when those conditions are like that again.
  17. That's nice to read as I'm sitting in a dock waiting out a storm Fish are biting like crazy though... And the pleasure boaters have all evacuated.
  18. Hope he didn't die from it.
  19. Well.....just hang 15lbs. off the side of your canoe and then see how much weight it takes in the bottom center to set it back straight. It is significant. It takes more than just a battery.
  20. I guess the biggest issue I have with motors on canoes is the balance headache. When you step out of the canoe it falls on its side....unless you use a very VERY lightweight (and WEAK) trolling motor. I toyed with creating a pivoting center mount for forward thrust, and then using a paddle to rudder-steer it. But I just don't want a motor on a canoe. That's what Jon boats are for.
  21. From my observations I'd say the river in this region with the most 18+ Smallies per mile would have to be the Meramec. My question would be Why?
  22. If she has any money or owns property she'll likely live in jail or on probation for child endangerment. If she isn't worth anything then they won't bother charging her.
  23. Each lake gets one "pet project species", and for LO they have chosen stupid Spoonbill. So we get no more stripers. It's kind of lame because Stripers provide a year-round opportunity and benefit whereas Spoonbill can only be pursued for a few weeks each year, plus we have an overabundance of large shad that the Stripers could eat. Probably the decision of some dipshit biologist that doesn't even realize (or care) that our white bass population is in grave danger.
  24. Mark, they stopped stocking stripers in LO quite awhile back but there is apparently some natural reproduction cuz we catch a few of all different sizes. Not enough to justify targeting them though. Hybrids are stocked on the upper Osage and occasionally in the Niangua arm.
