  1. Al, I'm really surprised that you don't flyfish for smallies more....or maybe you do and just don't talk about it. Is it because you don't like to get out of the canoe ?
  2. Happy bird dog, Mr.Lilley ! What's the number this time ?
  3. That Verado MIGHT push it. I dunno though, once you swap the lower with a jet pump it'll only be a 9.5hp.
  4. At first I thought it was picking up stray rf from home security systems, but I've been far from any houses and it still does it fairly often. I refreshed the battery's (has two controllers), still does it. My next step is to run without the LCR on and see if it still happens. If it does I'll call MG again.....the first time I called they acted like they'd never heard that complaint before.
  5. Speaking of wireless.... Has any owners of Motorguide wireless models ever experienced phantom turning or activation ? I have one that is haunted and in need of an excorsism.
  6. Yeah its a guy from Kaiser that never was reported missing. The chic that jumped off the toll bridge never surfaced either. I assume she's turtle poop by now ?
  7. Not a problem. I'm currently running a 1985 Evinrude 40hp on one of my rigs too and she's a sweetheart. Love those motors!
  8. Difficult, no. But to get the best results it requires an understanding of the entire engine. A good manual will certainly get you there if you make absolutely sure that you understand everything that it is telling you, and why, before turning to the next page.
  9. Isn't Lake O still holding the record ?
  10. The whole issue is never gonna go anywhere, it is going to go down in the record books as the definition of a "circle jerk". Scientists themselves can't agree on anything. Economists themselves can't agree on anything. So the odds that scientists AND economists together will EVER agree on anything is not even a possibility worth hoping for. So this is nothing more than Debating practice. The ones actively involved in this discussion will be better armed to debate things later on that actually can change minds.
  11. Spot on, ruthead. I like that quote even better.
  12. Beautiful! Gotta say it though.... That plastic seat kills the aesthetics.
  13. Yeah, 10 minutes of that oughta kill your muskie jones. lol
  14. Musky in Missouri are a waste of time. Yeah yeah I know...."you've seen pictures", me too. But you'll waste enough time and money trying to get a "follow" at Fellows/Pomme/Hazel that you could have spent several weekends in Hayward Wisconsin. Yeah yeah I know...."you don't believe me".
  15. The folks down below gotta fish too !
  16. "It's not that fishing is "so important", it's that everything else in life is equally UNIMPORTANT...and way less fun."
  17. It looks like this. New fresh one in my hand. Old crusty leaking one is behind. And yeah it sounds like it could use a good sync routine, most that I see are off a little so it's almost a given.
  18. Usually a complete synchronization of all of the control linkage will make a HUGE improvement. Simply cranking up the idle speed stop screw might "keep it running" but to fix it proper there are 5 steps to syncing the control linkage that come BEFORE you ever touch the idle stop screw or the cable barrels. That 40 also has a tuned exhaust and depending on the model will have either 1 or 2 seals between the exhaust tube and the lower unit. If someone has serviced the water pump (which I'm sure they have since 198?) and not renewed those seals (which have a lifespan of about 5-6 years before they get all hard and crusty) then you probably have some exhaust back-pressure adding to its fussyness.
  19. Stats? Oh puleeeze. In the 60's-70's people weren't convicted of "crimes" unless a CRIME was actually committed. Today you're a "victim" if you experience mild displeasure in something, and you're a "criminal" if you know who caused the displeasure and fail to report it. Comparative Stats go out the window when the rules of society change.
  20. This is interesting and brings forth a slew of questions. First and foremost being...Who's idea was it, and why? B; What are they being fed? C; Are they being injected with anything? D; What (and who) determines when and where they will be released? E; Does doing this require any special permit(s), and if so who issues them ? Maybe they are being used for a tracking study or something, but if so then why act all secretive about it? I haven't been active in competitive fishing for awhile but the last I knew this was not normal protocol for a C&R tournament circuit.
  21. A '06 with 900+hrs. is performing well because it is being USED REGULARLY, not because of perfect "by the book" maintainance. Which maintenance step(s) do your certified techs claim is allegedly being skipped or not done properly?
  22. Nah. There's those who can rip on each other without hating, and there's those who feel compelled to jump in and declare someone a jackass when THEY perceive a line being crossed. The "direction" is constant, but perceptions fly off in all directions.
  23. OMG! My g/f went ballistic after she saw that on FB yesterday. I immediately noticed the word "allegedly" numerous times in that "report". I said " Babe, it's Facebook....ya know, the interactive Saturday Night Live of the internet".
  24. I sure would not want to be the guy in charge of those fish for 30 days, and have to answer for it if they all croaked. This deal doesn't smell right to me at all. Those fish need to go back like yesterday.
