  1. MDC isn't going to bother following up on that one I don't think.
  2. Every impoundment in the state is absolutely loaded with "ponds" (aka; coves). You can even pick one that is partially (or completely) out of the wind if you want. They all are loaded with bass.
  3. I'm not into the park atmosphere anymore, but I sure can't deny that I learned to trout fish there. Where else are you gonna get more practice hooksetting and strike detecting ? Park trout bite just like trout anywhere else....you just get WAY more opportunitys per hour to witness a take, and get him stuck. There's no better place in the world to quickly master a new technique. It's a dam shame though that at Bennett they totally hosed up a great fast rocky riffle and good tailout by installing a freakin' exhaust pipe in the middle of it so that NOW all the fish bunch up like the ones in the other hatchery outlets.
  4. If I had 1/100th of the money spent on Zebra mussel propaganda I could retire in grand fashion. It's to the point now that it pisses me off to even hear anyone mention them. They aren't hurting anything, and there's nothing you could do about it if they were ! Drop it already ! Zebra mussels, didymo, ash borer..... It's always something. Biologists are becoming worse than doctors and lawyers at justifying their phoney baloney "jobs".
  5. I used to be a grub freak back when I hiked/sneaked into strip pits. Never tried the unweighted waking thing but had a lot of success using them in the following ways.... On a jighead (round head and darter). On a splitshot rig. As a jig trailer. On a spinnerbait (no skirt, just grub). Behind a Johnson silver minnow spoon. Clear Salt&Pepper was always my hands down favorite unless I was using it as a jig trailer in which Pumpkin pepper or Melon pepper got the nod. Caught my biggest strip pit bass ever on a 1/4oz. brn/orange Arkie jig w/a pumpkin 3" Kalin grub on it.
  6. There's some danger in assuming that.
  7. Jack was slingin' cheese ?!! Still fighting the good fight ain't he ?
  8. Gasoline and matches! I'd rather stand in the yard and fight a fire than do a whole lot of bluff scrambling.
  9. The cool and funny thing about this thread is that nobody truly GAF about the wakeboaters kids, we just want the wakeboats gone because they interfere with our fishing sometimes.... Playing the "endangered child" card is always a winner though cuz the whole world stops what it's doing when they hear that. As far as I'm concerned you can endanger your kids all ya want, just means more hotdogs and smores, and less crowded classrooms/ more jobs for mine.....But get your dam pleasure boat AND YOUR KIDS out of my fishin' hole !
  10. That's a sweet little rig ! Crazy good price too.
  11. I'd recommend having the outboard "looked over" before getting too far from the ramp. *Water pump. *Gearcase (lube condition, seals, prop hub). *Fuel system. *anything made of rubber probably could stand to be refreshed.
  12. LOL Yeah GE, it's kinda like listening to Atlanta area folks after 2" of snow falls.
  13. Once you experience trailer bearing failure on a trip far from home you'll never let it happen again. Most guys (myself included) are overly anal about trailer wheel bearing maintenance. And it's for a good reason. Personally I don't trust the sealed axle systems any more than I do the old school stuff. And acquiring the tools, parts and/or service for a new style axle system IF it DOES fail in Podunk, MO/AR.....Yeah, good luck !
  14. Oh please! Carry on. I'm curious to see why "this post" promises any advantage to you.
  15. Its one thing to bitch on a forum, but it's a whole nother thing to bitch about people bitching. Now quick, somebody bitch about me bitching about wettinline bitching about people bitching about wakeboats.
  16. Could be a smack down to Sage for not sponsoring. "Fine then, I'll just drop your s#it in the coontail moss every time a close-up op presents itself". LMAO!
  17. If you know there are dangers somewhere, yet you still choose to go, you can't apply for victim status just because you ALMOST got hurt there.
  18. Hey, if it wasn't for folks like that there wouldn't be a near good enough market for replacement props and shafts. That is a market that employs thousands across the country, and one of them might be a future son/daughter inlaw. So please let them do their thing. It is your duty as a member of society to smile, wave, and encourage them any way you can.
  19. I love that whole dropping the rod in the lake thing. I gotta start doing that so my buddy's can see how cool I look.
  20. Like looking through an owls eyes. Pretty cool !
  21. If THEY (county OR fed) want it to...then it does. If YOU want it to...then it doesn't.
  22. I consider putting a kid on a horse, or giving them flip-flops and taking them to the park "child endangerment", but everyone else thinks it's cute, so.... No I wouldn't pull them behind a boat over submerged timber, even though I learned to ski on the Salt river dodging and ducking rootwads, bank lines and all kinds of assorted hazards while a man with a Falstaff in one hand operated the boat. But do I put a bicycle helmet on them when we ride ? No. Do I make sure they don't laugh during dinner and choke on a carrot ? No. I'm pretty sure my parents wanted me dead.....or maybe they were just idiots that deserved to be jailed and taught to value my safety more.
  23. I guess I get what you're saying but to be honest I am sick of hearing the "child endangerment" card being played so freely these days. Some of my most cherished memories were made while riding in the back of a pickup truck on a gravel road and it chaps my rear end that I can't allow my kids to do it without risking 7000.00+ in lawyer fees and possible jail time. It is our individual job to care for our OWN kids, not to enforce what we consider "wise decisions" on everyone elses kids. If it were up to me I'd allow riding around town in a truck bed but would NOT allow kids on horses. And I would also ban running in flip-flop shoes. But to each their own.
