  1. Where ya at? I could use a 10 footer, but I doubt you'd want to ship one at that price ???
  2. Problem is: The places that rent boats are a LONG WAY from decent fishing areas unless you're happy catching 5" bluegill. And the fishing boats they rent probably won't make it out of the cove they are in without swamping or breaking down.
  3. Need a pic!
  4. Naw, fishing is easy....Talking about it is difficult.
  5. I can't stand "all in all". ....After I got my penis unstuck from the trailer winch and got the bleeding under control I caught 2 dinks over the weekend and both were flukes.....but "all in all" it was a fabulous trip. Unfaltering optimism is more annoying to me than someone who bitches about everything.
  6. It was going on like gangbusters until we had a surprise week of Winter. Things have warmed back up and stabilized now but the only fish that have resumed "normal" activity are the bluegills. I'm catching crappie in 12-18' that are either still full of eggs or males that are still all colored up. I'm not sure if they are spawning deep or not but they sure seem reluctant to return to the shallows for some reason. This is definitely not a typical year. I see schools of fry here and there but no males guarding them, so I can't tell if they are bass...or what the hell they are. I have yet to see a single bass on a bed in the normal areas. Weird.
  7. No doubt he had moments of stress, but we all pulled him through. Us fishing types are a loyal and dependable bunch. Had most of us gotten sick and tired of jackin' with boats, picking out backlashes, getting sunburned in the Summer, frostbit in the Winter, and lying to our wives almost every day.....We would have taken up pitchin' horse shoes, shootin' pool and playing poker, and left him for bankrupt. If I'm gonna give anybody besides myself more than equal credit ..... it's gotta be our very own starving artist, Al. He's the only reason that most of those catalogs stayed on our coffee tables so long that we eventually had to buy something from it.
  8. Let's not undersell the folks that buy the stuff. I mean that's where the money comes from, right? And most of those folks work harder for every dollar of it than JM does I bet.
  9. Well we took a beating today. The friggin' wind was just too much so decent boat control was out the window. I had a pattern going that was yielding one good quality fish per spot if one of us could get off a decent cast between gusts. It was frustrating! I hate the #*%&%+ wind!
  10. 3 people actively fishing is a pain even in a 20 footer.
  11. Dry knob (on the Osage fork) or Falcon area (on the Gasconade). It's all bass & Goggle-eye water, best suited for a canoe but you could cover some water in a jon boat. You'll have to walk it up through some shallow fast spots unless you're planning a shuttle. It flows about identical to the upper-middle Niangua.
  12. You'll be ok with ypur 2' jon for a ways below Hazelgreen but IMO that is too far up for decent catfishing. There's a few in the deep slow pools I'm sure but for the most part it's bass/goggle eye water. If I were you I'd take that little jon to PB#1 (upper Glaize arm of LO) or up here to the upper end of the Gravois arm. You'll be ok in a boat that size if you go during the week before Memorial wknd. and you'll get into a bunch of good eating size cats on dip bait within 3 miles of either access.
  13. Seems that cold spell caused them to bail mid-spawn and they are reluctant to come back shallow. The ones I am catching here in the Gravi (few as they may be) are 12-18' deep and still full of eggs. Soooo.... wtf are we doing here? LOL Anybody been up above Bollinger/Cartwright ? I'm headed up that way tomorrow on a crappie specific run.
  14. A dude shows up on public land and starts ordering people around at gunpoint....and all parties are at fault? ????!!! No. That's like spreading the blame around to include all the occupants when a plane gets hijacked because they tried to attack the terrorist.
  15. I think you're right...That top fish is a frankenstien.
  16. Anyone that claims that color doesn't matter is being vague. Color definitely does matter. Sometimes more than others, but it always has a value associated with it that shouldn't be ignored. Water color, makeup of the bottom, sky conditions, and oftentimes the season of the year can dictate the most productive color patterns of different baits.
  17. The new age sonar systems are really cool toys and I have installed quite a number of elaborate "systems", but there is a profound pattern that I notice.... A year or two after the "upgrade" the person hasn't caught any more fish than he used to without it.... And engine hours @ under 1500 RPM increases x5.... And the number of voltage regulator overheats has increased. Everyone is so afraid that they might have to fish through some unproductive water.... I just don't get it. It's as if they assume that they don't need any more casting practice. Laziness, that's what it is.
  18. So you really want someone to have to REMOVE the engine rather than just NOT USE IT? C'mon man...don't be a jackass. This sounds like a jealousy thing going on here, does it not?
  19. Sonny's has always been my second choice when Bowker's is scarce. When lunchtime rolls around it ain't half bad on a Triscuit.
  20. Yep, I see that all the time on the creeks around here....The guy/gal doing all the running off and calling of the law isn't even the owner of the freakin property ! Blows me away that when someone calls the county to report someone trespassing ON A UNPOSTED AREA the county doesn't even bother to verify that the RP is even authorized to make the complaint. They just send a deputy out to remove the person from the creek (or wherever) and write them up for trespassing. And it never gets challenged. WTF?
  21. So Crocker was running people off of property that wasn't even his ? Where have I seen that mentioned before? So who's property was it?
  22. Yeah, does it have a title? I'm pretty sure I have a cap for that little square fuel pump also. I know I have a rebuild (diaphragm) kit for it.
  23. Wanna sell the '79 9.9 ?
