  1. OMG When you remove the "anode/trim tab, or whatever"...there is either a bolt or a stud under there. No? Edit: Ahh, but you're right there's no stud up on the NOSE by the shift shaft on those ! It's just a locator pin. Whew! So SIX things to remove. Sorry. LOL
  2. If yours doesn't have a bolt under the trim tab then it should. Little known fact: the bolt under the trim tab is the most important one....it acts as a vibration dampener, and without it the rest of the studs will vibrate loose. So since you have to go down the hole and remove the trim tab to get to it...that makes 7 But again, who's counting?
  3. The truth will come out the first time he hops in my lap with a spider in his mouth. LMAO!
  4. I just knew that someday I'd get the chance to snipe monkeys! Heck yeah!
  5. True enough. There usually won't be many fiish hanging behind a dock that is jumping up and down, banging and squeaking, but I did catch a hawg once that was holding under a walkway support of a dock where a crew was installing a hoist. You'd think that all that noisy activity on the dock would have scared the fish off, but in that case I guess it was like deer and chainsaws.
  6. Seven actually, but who's counting
  7. Hunters and Fishermen....... They're just so Cliquey I think Gierach said it best, "there's only two types of fishermen: Us, and the Assholes"
  8. If you installed a 1" prop nut instead of a 15/16" you'd thwart the theives that are only equipped with a prop wrench
  9. A Mercury or Yamaha lower units and Mercruiser outdrives can be removed in under 2 minutes and would be way easier to sell than a specific prop, so you might as well consider the prop a sacrificial lamb or keep it insured.
  10. Everything I post is total BS, just in case you hadn't already figured that out.
  11. Right. The dredgers seldom if ever take into account any after effects of their gravel removal, they choose only to pull it out where it is most convenient for them to get to. When they remove gravel all the way to bedrock it begins tearing the banks down resulting in wide shallow areas. And where those wide shallow areas neck back down it REALLY eats the banks away during high water. A heavily dredged stream will eventually become overly wide and overly shallow. If there's not enough deep water holes then the stream can't support a healthy population of gamefish. When water moves over a wide shallow bedrock stretch it warms up drastically under the Summer sun making the area for several miles below like a hot steamy sauna. Fish don't like that.
  12. Until you have fish on your hands... you have SKUNK on your hands. A "good catch" means that you have to wipe your hands AND your sunglasses
  13. What a pretty stretch of river. It screams Jon Boat!
  14. Horseflies.... Viscous basturds! This is crazy but if a bunch of them get after you and you Hum (harmonize) at the same pitch that they do, they'll leave you alone. I "Hummed" until my throat was sore today. I think they are hatching out of my test tank.
  15. You ever eat that Gawd-awful thorn tree sticking out of the high mud bank just above LM on the way back down ? It looks like a mimosa....but it ain't. It's a meat shredder.
  16. I would have gone for an evening trip today but I was so tired of fighting sweat bees and horsefly in the shop all day that I just wanted to retire to the house. Looks like we might get a cooling shower here soon though, and that's bound to help everyones bite......and attitude
  17. Yeah that's the issue I was having in a few spots above LM before the flood. Haven't been on it yet since, and I figured there would be some serious wood relocation issues. I tried poling the jon back down and that was a disaster. Some of those strainers are plenty strong enough to eat a 16' jon boat and they can be difficult to avoid. I'm surprised more folks don't get into serious trouble down there.
  18. The way that the river divides onto 2, and sometimes 3, smaller channels between the ramp and Milldam run, it's always gonna be choked up with wood. Someday it might choke up to the point that the river cuts a whole new channel through there. I can't imagine being able to run it in a jet unless the water was 700cfs or more, just because of all the wood.
  19. The Hoosier mentality is rampant during the Spring White bass run, but is considered "acceptable" then. When it falls upon a Smallmouth stream or blue ribbon trout creek is when it gets frowned upon....and admittedly does the worst damage.
  20. You should hear what the hoosiers call the other groups. LOL
  21. Doesn't appear to be the work of someone who has done it regularly....or has plans to do it again. If your supply hose is still long enough then yes you can just replace the quick-connect fitting. Buy two and always carry a spare because they fail (develop leaks or break) frequently.
  22. Oh wow. The definition of a Hoosier is a bit more severe where you're from.
  23. http://caseplastics.com/case/index.php
  24. Yeah that is an issue, but how can you deny anyone the progression of becoming a "caring" angler. None of us were born that way and all of us have done our stint being the "local hoosier".
