  1. I had a 2000 Lowe 180 Striker/ 115 Johnson and it took alot of lake ozark beatings and kept coming back for more. A F2 tornado ate it or I'd still be fishing out of it. I prefer riveted aluminum hulls over welded aluminum and I absolutely loved that boat, it was fast, safe, and could do it all. I'd strongly suggest the 18 footer over the 17.
  2. Yeah I've got two of them, but telling either one would screw up your long standing record of always being right.
  3. Haven't experienced that situation but I have been stuck in quicksand on the Mississippi. My brother and I used to play in it and thought it was funny.... It wouldn't be one bit funny if you were by yourself with nobody to help you get out.
  4. Nobody needs COPS to protect their children.... that's the parents job. Cops are for protecting doughnuts....and that's serious business. Don't interfere with that by asking them to babysit your dang kids. Jerry Sandusky coulda just as easily been a cop ya know.
  5. The thing is; the saturation attempts are about building revenue, .08 is not dangerously hammered, it is mildly buzzed. In my insignificant opinion if you have to make someone blow into a machine to tell if their "overly intoxicated".....then you should prolly just leave them alone and allow them to enjoy themselves.
  6. Rack or Rotary? I have a 13' teleflex dual rack, and several rotary cables that I'd have to check lengths on. The make and style of your helm is going to determine what will work. It will most likely be Teleflex, Morse, or Detmar..... and most likely is rack & pinion. But you need to check and specify.
  7. Just above 1000 in the water, or on muffs?
  8. "New" as in NEW, or new as in "reman"? What is your idle speed RPM in neutral? A 1993 200 might be equipped with a shift-assist switch, if so it needs to be tested. Why the complete new lower vs. A fresh gearset in the original gearcase? The mechanical (within the gearcase) causes for a hard shift are; improper shimming/backlash, bent or twisted shift rod, damaged shift cam, bearing carrier not fully seated, water in the gearcase.
  9. Ok... I have a 90 3 cyl. Yammie gearcase off now and I see what you've got going on. Gimme a buzz and I'll talk you through it. 573-569-5406
  10. I can honestly say that I've never even tried to "nymph" 10 1/2 fow, but if I was to attempt it I'd be more likely to use the old Joe Humphrey mono-line method. If you have a bobber on the surface and a fly at 9-10 feet below.....how many opposing current lines do you think you're leader is passing through? Those surface seams that you see don't go all the way to the bottom if it's 8-12 feet deep there. The deep nymph/heavy weight/bobber rig obviously works though, and works well....or else we wouldn't even know WTH Brian Wise is
  11. Just the standard law of physics that it's easier to pull an 18 ft. chain than it is to push one.
  12. Once you figure out the angle that you leader needs to be at, and learn how to cast/mend in order to "set up the drift"..... you are basically drifting a FISH TRAP. No problem detecting takes even for a blind man. Bobbers make setting the trap impossible. The only time I use one is if I want to suspend a midge in eddys or really slow water.
  13. Enforcing the laws and rules of the land has become a very lucrative business, hasn't it? They'll greed themselves out of business before long. Freakin' Terrorists.
  14. There's several patterns working WELL right now, just pick one that suits the area and conditions best..... Frogs and spooks around flooded grass. Carolina rigging points and creek channel Worming brushpiles. Flipping shallow docks and wood. Worming the condo lights at night. (Big worm/light weight ....bites on the fall). Massive shad hatch going on, kentucky's gorging on schools of tiny dime size shad every evening.....they'd prolly bite rattle traps or small swimbaits. Just get out there and you'll figure something out that'll work for ya.
  15. Fuel and water pressure "Gauges", and a Speedo. And a tach..... as in tachometer, just so ya know. Did the boat have the chrome riveted on "Champion" trim decals....or are they sticker decals ?
  16. I'm afraid this is one of those things that I'd have to see in person..... cuz several things don't look right.
  17. You've lost me. I'm afraid that we are discussing separate issues and I don't wanna lead you into doing something improperly. Did you add pics to your original post or did I not wait for them to fully load on my end, the first time ?
  18. LMAO Boy oh boy, you have truly mellowed with age ! If I had more time I'd hunt down one of those classic archived ATL rants just for a "then and now" comparison. LOL
  19. The hard plastic tube is a guide that coaxes the water tube into the grommet during insallation. Are all the bits and pieces of the impeller accounted for? You don't want any chunks floating around in the cooling passeges of the powerhead, or plugging up the water tube.
  20. Mercs are metric (since they have been farmed from Yamaha and Tohatsu for quite a few years now) but it's possible that whoever rigged your boat used 1/4x20 (sae 7/16) to mount the control box.
  21. Shove a big flat screwdriver under the impeller and while prying upwards tap on the top of the driveshaft with a hammer. It'll pop loose.
  22. Even if he had chosen, and could have afforded to take it to trial, his fate would have been decided by 12 people who aren't even smart enough to figure out how to get out of jury duty.
  23. Weren't his lawyers also quoted as saying "they were satisfied with the outcome" ? The lawyers were satisfied.....ain't that a b!tc#.
  24. Are you interested in short warts too? I have a few of those I'd trade for a (non-clear bill) red or brown craw standard WW
  25. Easier than the old Merc. No fighting water tubes or shift linkage, it all lines up real friendly like. A little heavier is all
