  1. Is that an oxymoron, or the early sign of alzheimers
  2. Rules say ALL "fish" in the park must be released immediately during Winter C&R.
  3. One Hybrid, a few Whites, and a dozen or so dink Crappie. The water was up around 14ft. and backcasting room was non-existant. Ever try to "steeple cast" a Clouser? .....Dangerous ! I like fishing Bagnell but I gotta tell ya, the scent coming out of that tailrace during the warmest part of the day made me crave a good hot shower ASAP. Gov. Nixon says he's gonna fix that. Ya reckon ?
  4. I hit it from the bank this morning with the fly gear, I only saw one boat below the dam, was that you, right up by the gates ?
  5. Baked, not fried....right ? Remember your Vitamin D (do I sound like your mother?) LOL
  6. They lay claim to a pretty good stretch of the Big Piney. But I guess AUE is going to open and close floodgates....on demand, or per request. Maybe I could call bagnell and say "yes, this is SFC Fishinwrench of the ANG....gimme 35,000 CFS immediatly please".
  7. I'm all about touchy subjects It will be even more amazing....if the 9 ton POS has to be extracted from the bottom of the river. That would be a good "exercise" for'em.
  8. I was referring to the "back ends" (as in the backend flats) .......I know nothing about Dock ends. LOL Where I've been catching spook fish, you can see the bottom. Are you catching them over deeper water ?
  9. http://www.lakenewsonline.com/lake_ozark/x...r-training-spot I guess if Taney was closer they'd commandeer it for their games ? This is BS !
  10. lonkm, I can get them and mail to you if needed, but a quicker option would be to fabricate your own from stainless steel, or aluminum roll pins, via your local hardware store. If you have the prop wrench that comes with it, pry the pressed on cap off the handle of the wrench and you'll find 2 spare drive pins inside it. If you need me to send you some shoot me a PM with the make, model# and serial# and I'll hook you up.
  11. The Fall turnover will put the skids on it. And that normally begins within a few days (+/-) of the Daylight Savings Time switch, every year. So you've got a good month left before it goes to crap on the main lake.
  12. Carburetor cleaner (spray) will kill the little bastages...but it burns like hell for about 40 seconds if you aren't used to it. I practically bathe in the stuff on a weekly basis so it doesn't burn very bad anymore. I can't even smell it (scary I know). After the burning stops there's no more itch, and the bites heal in about 3-4 days. I'm betting that this technique isn't very healthy ....but it does work. Fly head cement or clear nail polish does the same thing Chiggerid does...or so I've heard.
  13. '86 Pantera?......darn good hull ! A little slippery on turns, but that's not always a bad thing (keeps you from getting thrown out). All this talk about whites/hybrids has got me wanting to chase them again for a few trips.....thinkin' about taking the 7wt., and every pink fly I own, for a trip or two below Bagnell.
  14. I gotta agree with that. Unless you have some decent current moving in the direction you WANT to go I think it's easier to wade, bushwhack, or swim, than to paddle or row anything inflatable.
  15. I've never fished the Osage in the Fall....but I'm fixin' to give it a shot. Any tips or info that will save me some time locating fish would be greatly apprieciated. thanks, Wrench
  16. Hmmm, so how do you roll..... Ginger or Mary ann ?
  17. Definately ! Look me up next Spring and we'll do it.
  18. CW, you don't have to miss out. you can wade the points in the lake just like you do the creeks. The points in the dam area of Truman are reasonably easy to access and fish from the bank, as are many good points here on LO once they drop the lake a bit.
  19. Awesome! Glad you got into 'em. Don't ya just love those ledges Whites and Hybrids are the funnest fish that swims in this lake....bar none. Good eatin' too.
  20. Spots are a sporty fish, no need to kill them like that. Is there any real proof that killing off the Spots or Largemouth increases numbers of Smallies in any given stream ? I've heard the reasoning, but I'm just not convinced that it is the ethical thing to do. Popcorn, comin' up....
  21. They've been around forever, and nobody I know uses them. So I'm guessing that they are...not so awesome. Can't hurt to try though.
  22. Not really the best time of year to be fishing the lower end IMO, but that comes from a guy that hates fishin' the mainlake stuff. You can do ok on numbers by running down a cove and burning crankbaits along the shady sides of the docks (Bomber model A). But pitchin' to the backend docks should get you some better kickers. There's a pretty decent Spook bite in the backends too...on some days. Knock'em dead
  23. Are you kiddin'me ? Considering most of the "exchanges" made between me and the guys I usually fish with, "douchebag" is extremely mild. Matteroffact... it's probably the closest thing to a term of endearment that you'll ever hear out of any of us.
