  1. Truth bomb there, for sure. I'm not one that casts a shadow in the doctors office unless I'm in really bad condition. And the mere mention of ANYTHING that is bothering me always results in everyone within earshot telling me to "go to the doctor". Believe me, if I had any faith that a doctor could fix it, I'd have already been. The only thing worse IMO than dealing with an ailment, is being shuffled from one doctor to another and constantly being on my way to some far away clinic for one thing or another. Sitting in a waiting room for 2 hours until someone looks at me for 6 minutes then schedules me ANOTHER appointment. Screw that lifestyle!
  2. Well, I think that once you start getting old there's a degree of pain associated with nearly everything you set out to do. Once you are familiar with the degree of pain, and make a decision whether it's worth it to endure the pain to just complete the task......you are officially getting OLD. "Too old" is when it just isn't worth it anymore.
  3. I'm falling apart too. Lip refuses to heal 🙄 Tore the tendon in my foot earlier this last Spring, then favored that leg all Summer.....and now have a pinched nerve in my hip. This getting old BS ain't for sissy's 😖
  4. He's prepping for the pending apocalypse.
  5. They are all still out there, either still running.....or capable of running. You'd have to try really hard to blow one up. Parts are still available, and reasonably priced. 👍
  6. OMC made a line of 28spl, 48spl, and 88spl models that were base models (20" shaft and intended for Commercial fleet use. No tiller option) but they ended up being scarfed up by dealers selling "budget boats". The 48 and 88 could be bought with tilt/trim but were only available in 2 or 4 cylinder crossflow 20" shaft units..... and have a more robust charging system (16-20amp vs. 9-12amp on the stock 30-50-90 hp models). Detuned ever so slightly to avoid detonation and overheating with crappy or contaminated fuel.....which was very common at that time. Originally designed to run a 100:1 oil ratio (vs. 50:1 on standard models) They are genuine workhorses.
  7. I don't worry much about having my vehicle vandalized at a river access, or anywhere else. That's what we pay insurance premiums for ! Besides, the odds are greater being involved in an active shooter situation at the bank, or at a gas station. What good is freedom if you're afraid to do what you wanna do ?
  8. Sorry to see you and your boy hurting, buddy. But I'm sure glad it wasn't worse. Hang in there and heal quickly.
  9. Well, I hope your distant cousins, and their pals, have outgrown their gigging party's. 😖
  10. Sure there is. Nothing says that you have to cook them for a shore lunch. But proving that YOU and THE STREAM are capable of at least ONE legal limit seems like a worthy goal to seek. I mean c'mon ! When I came home from prom night with a case of the crabs, my brother made sure that I knew I hadn't accomplished anything to be proud of 😏 And even threatened to set my junk on fire if I didn't tell Dad.
  11. I think you should have to catch a legal limit before scratching one off the list. Or at least 2 legal keepers. Kinda gives you a more realistic feel of the fishery......ya know? I felt the same regarding the Trout Slam.
  12. Y'all are gonna love THIS..... https://fb.watch/fbPWy_EtUs/
  13. Well thank goodness 👍 Had me worried there for a bit.
  14. Right, just tie in the fake fur tail piece at the bend of the hook, then take a few wraps of the fake fur forward and tie off. Add 4 wraps of the longer sparkly collar material. Then wrap a tight dense head of the sparkly head material (resembles "Frizzle Chenille") and trim it flat across the bottom so it doesn't block the hook gap. Color it up with permanent markers if you want. 👍
  15. You can stand on the bank and cast just about anywhere, but the main reason for wading is to get better position for a good drift. If all you are doing is drifting TP flys under a bobber then you'll just have shorter drifts and it will challenge your casting skills. You can definitely catch a limit without ever getting your feet wet, it's just far more efficient if you can strategically choose your position. Yarn worms on a 1/80oz. jighead are very boring...... but highly effective.
  16. Niangua River Oasis
  17. I don't have an FX 😏 But if I'd did....... Probably. Is it like a federal crime to shoot hummingbirds? Wouldn't surprise me.
  18. Don't lie 🙄 What you really like to do is pluck them out of thin air at 30 yards with the FX while they are hovering. Or is that just me ? 😎 Why else would anyone in their right mind want 7000 hummingbirds in their yard?
  19. I've never liked the idea of driving from up on the bow (Doug Hannon style). But alot of guys like that style of rig, and I can take possession of this thing for next to nothing. Personally I hate everything about it, except for the sweet little 30 Johnson..... but I'm in it for the money 😁
  20. I'm not sure what any of the stuff is called. Just know it when I see it. Sic your wife on it. 😁
  21. Any interest in a 16.5" Lowe stick steer rig? Thinking about buying it, replacing the lower unit, fixing it up nice.....then selling it. But I don't want it sitting around all winter. Probably sell for 5500.00 and I'll warranty the outboard for 3 years.
  22. Here's a little extra juice for anyone wanting to go play this game...... I'm calling it the "HL Streamer". (HL for Hobby Lobby, as everything needed to tie them comes from there...... except the #2 stainless hooks of course. 🙂 Better than fur strips and hair because a sink-tip line will take it down really easily.....and keep it down all the way to the boat. Once you see it wet you'll have an immediate orgasm. 😁👍 Whatever you do DO NOT put any red on it..... cuz then you have to call it The Tampon. 🥴
  23. So what's y'all's guess on that blue? Was he an eater, or a slot fish ?
  24. It's the stuff from Amazon (still not cheap by any means). I liked it at first, but it's only going to last 3 years in the sun before I have to rip it up and replace it.
  25. Yeah it's highly contagious. For the next 2 weeks everyone will be operating their boats as if they left their brain in the $#!thouse at the ramp. 🙄 It will take 3 gruesome deaths, along with lots of pleas for monetary assistance to families, to settle everyone back down again.
