  1. I know. The reason why Mercury/Yamaha/Suzuki do not continue supplying parts for their older engines is because a larger percentage of their sales is SALTWATER......and no matter what kind of outboard it is.....it is only going to last so long in a saltwater environment. Therefore they don't feel that it benefits them enough to continue supporting motors for more than 8 years. Johnson/Evinrude, although they are currently no longer building outboards, will continue to support their motors for as long as they possibly can. Their target sales were predominantly FRESH WATER where outboards can last.....and last....and last.....
  2. So you are considering going DOWN in HP because of what? weight? Fuel economy? What? I'm not going to BS you here. You do whatever you want......BUT.... If I end up with your motor I'll bet everything I own that the old 1999 115 Johnson will still be running strong when the BRAND NEW 4-stroke you bought yesterday is in a scrap yard.
  3. Those are the ones ! At that price I'm tempted to snatch up a few more, even though I have nothing to put them on....or put on them.
  4. With age HOPEFULLY comes wisdom. We're all becoming old farts...... but we're not STUPID old farts. We've been awake the whole time. Or at least SOME of us have 😉 There's still a few of us that are sleeping on the porch 🤣
  5. There's nothing that I do that can't be done by anyone here. The things I learned through what is considered "proper training" could be learned easily on your own with a reasonable investment. That certification paper means absolutely nothing. It's nothing more than an attendance certificate.
  6. No she finished at UMKC, only 1 other girl graduated with her. She actually made slightly more money bartending at Coconuts.....but who wants to do THAT forever? 😂 Kinda stings that a bartender can make more money than a mechanical engineer, if you aren't too proud to wear that badge.
  7. The motors on my boats are Evinrude 1980's vintage......and there's not a single part that I can't get if I needed it. 🙂 Also have a 1966 30hp Evinrude restoration on the list, and everything I need is available. 👍 It's on a cool little ski boat, I'd share pics if it wasn't all covered up.
  8. I beg to differ. 2 years ago Boats.net showed they had pistons, rings, and a head gasket for a PB Yamaha 70 and took the money right away. It took 5-6 weeks to get refunded after they couldn't produce them. Nevertheless, if your happy that's all that matters. 👍
  9. Yeah, my daughter had to have her degree before she could get hired. But she'll sit right here and tell you that she could have started fresh out of high school and been able to not only do everything she's doing now.....but everything her boss is doing too. 70k debt hanging over her head for NOTHING. 🙄
  10. Where's a good place to spend a couple nights nearby during this time of the year? I wanna go spend some time on the Current and LP during February.
  11. Are you wanting a NEW 90 4S? If so I can check availability and get a price. I would advise against purchasing a used one that's out of warranty. But if you find one and have faith in it, I can certainly swap them out.
  12. 1999 was a good year. 👍 If you need someone to do the swap/install I'm sure we can work something out that pleases us both.
  13. Oh yes, it's an industrial complex. 400.00 books with less text than a Gravois Mills phone book are proof of that. It's obviously doing good things for SOME.
  14. Which would be fine if resale prices acknowledged that. Have you priced a 2015 bass boat recently? No warranty left, and only a few parts are still available.......but yet WOAH! 💲💰💰💰💲💰💰💰💰💲
  15. There is a Google Earth overlay, but I don't know anything about how to do it.
  16. @Johnsfolly might be interested. 🙂
  17. What it teaches wasn't questioned. What it produces was. Every single one of the people running our country is a highly accredited college graduate. Take a look around ! 😢
  18. Getting hired by someone ? Is that our only goal? Hire yourself !
  19. So your claiming that nothing was ever designed, constructed, and maintained before college's were.......uh........built ? 🤔 🤣 What came first....the books, or the library?
  20. Water pump impellers, carb gaskets, fuel pump diaphragms.....Yes. Shafts, gears, pistons, flywheels, carburetors, reed valves, assorted critical seals, and ect.......No Some places may list them as "in stock"..... but just try to actually order one, and let me know if the big brown truck ever arrives. 2 months later you'll be fighting to get your money credited back to your account.
  21. Every stream in the world is a "wasting stream". But fish don't live underground.
  22. Can I request one example ?
  23. In today's world if there is something you want to learn how to do, you can learn it on your own. Universities don't hold a patent on information or instructions. Plus most all "higher learning institutions" are both bias and politically slanted in their teachings, so the actual quality of the education they offer is highly debatable. A "degree" only indicates that you answered questions/ performed tasks in the way that you were instructed to. And that doesn't necessarily make you smart, or brilliant....it just makes you a good student.
  24. Are you interested in selling the Johnson 115 ? If so....Model # and price ?
  25. So your goal in life is to kill time ? You're seeking a degree in that? I'm not sure if a degree is necessary..... but you've certainly come to the right place. 👨‍🎓
