Nooooo. It was WAY before that. Can't remember if it was Riversmallies.com, Matt Tucker's old board, or maybe John Wilson's board. I only remember it because a few of us joked about it afterwards. The flys got divided and shipped out via your place of employments outgoing mail, and we ripped on you behind your back about pocketing 50.00 worth of return postage money. š I remember Greg Coffey and Wayne Kirtley being in on it.....so yeah that was a LONG time ago. How stupid is it that we've known each other that long and still haven't kissed or even held hands? I mean how long do I have to court you before you finally put out ?
-
I recall a fly swap you hosted many years ago where you might have made a buck or two. Is that postage escrow account still drawing interest ? š

That's brilliant ! š

I bet he sneezed in it !

Y'all are so cute! š¤

Well, hmm. My perception is that I give good (useful/insightful) information about lots of things. Even if you think that I'm full of bull, I bet it either makes you think or makes you laugh. Now you've got me trying to think back to what I could have said THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED YOU TO THINK that I was wrong/full of bull, about everything except old outboards. I'm drawing a blank. š¤ I mean I know that you doubt that White bass/Hybrid Striper mutts exist.....But they do! And I know that you read somewhere that Threadfin shad don't exist in Lake of the Ozarks.....But whoever wrote that is mistaken. Probably some dumb biologist. š

I wasn't trying to TELL you anything, I was trying to ASK you something.š See what I mean about your perception problem? Terrible/aweful š

How, pray tell, does it prove that I know anything about THAT ?

No, you've got it all wrong. The BEST way, and EASIEST way to enjoy wild turkey (and goose, and probably roadkill possum) is to say that it tastes awful and isn't fit to eat..... then sit back, keep saying it, and wait for Billethead to cop an attitude, get his hackles all raised up, and then he'll cook you some. That's how you properly prepare things that you don't wanna mess with anymore. The next time I get him on the river I'm gonna start talking about how bad pancakes suck when cooked in a cast iron skillet on a misty morning. š

I'm not disputing that some WRONG didn't happen in my skillet or oven. All I know is that the same kind of WRONG never has happened in this kitchen with a Butterball from Save-a-lot. It only happened with the nasty ol' thunder chickens that I hauled out of the woods, plucked/gutted/skinned/and cooked. In all honesty I only remember cooking 3 of them. The first we baked and basted like a Thanksgiving bird, it was rubbery and not enjoyable at all. The second was done in a baking bag, not any better at all. The 3rd the breast was sliced and fried, and then I attempted some turkey jerky with the rest of it..... freakin'nasty! Of the other 6 that I have killed, one flew off with an arrow shaft and was never recovered, and the other 5 were dressed out and given to my buddies parents. I don't mess with them anymore. But I wouldn't turn down a Turkey fajita from the Billethead wok.

Actually what is "wrong" is your perception. Let's examine it..... #1) I said, "I never cared much for wild turkey". This is 100% true, not wrong. #2) I said, "I've never tasted crow or buzzard". Also true, not wrong. #3) I said, "I doubt that anyone would notice if a few bites of buzzard or crow was mixed in with their serving of wild turkey". Again True, not wrong. Even if you COULD take a bite and be all "Woah, that's a hunk of Crow thigh right there", I'm still not wrong.....I simply doubted that you'd notice (which you wouldn't, let's get real hereš). I'm always conscious of what I say, and even more conscious of how I say it. Some of you guys here, for some reason, like to redefine in your own minds what others actually say. Therefore the WRONG happens somewhere between your eyes and your brain. It didn't happen with ME. Right ? š

I was 15 before I saw my first wild turkey. The bird hunters from the area I grew up in were pissed about them "introducing" turkeys into the area, claimed they would eat all the quail eggs. It wasn't long after that the quail population did indeed take a nosedive.....but I don't think it was the turkeys that did it.
-
I've never cared much for wild turkey meat. I've never eaten crow or buzzard but I doubt that anyone could tell the difference between either of those and a wild turkey, once cooked.

It's open..... but good luck. If you wait until the coldest/nastiest day of the week you could probably get launched/loaded/parked.

The cliche that I'm so sick of hearing is: "We're all in this together".
-
Yeah that's cool as hell. I wouldn't advise it on public land though. š

I was big-time into turkey hunting for about 12 years. Never once did I "call one in" unless you can count the one time that a tom kept getting closer everytime we slammed the truck tailgate. 4 slams over a 2 hour period moved him over 100 yards and finally into range. Locating them on the roost late in the evening, then sneaking in on them before daylight the following morning was my most productive technique, both Spring and Fall.

Who was it for you? Marilyn or Raquel ?

I bet a physics scholar knows exactly how much suction it takes to make a perfect cherry red hickey on Farrah's collar, without going overboard and making a Madonna style bruise like I would have.

How not to pull your boat out of the river...
fishinwrench replied to netboy's topic in General Angling Discussion
You ever have somebody pull out next to you on a wide ramp, and it gives you the illusion that you're still moving backwards.....even though you're stomping on the brake with both feet? I hate that ! -

Yeah you can't beat them really. I'm really fond of the early 70's 6 - 9.9 models. Bulletproof. -
You're probably right. If this crap isn't airborne then the cold hard fact is that there are just way too many booger pickers out there.

Turn them into clinics and health care centers in preparation for the NEXT time some hotshot biologist allows his attic experiment to slip out of his hands. -
It's like watching a dude throwing down multiple shots of Everclear as if he never had to be rolled over by his friends to prevent him from drowning in his own puke before. "Live in the moment" they say. š
