  1. Too warm in the spring fed streams they say. šŸ™„ Too cold(???) in the tailwaters. šŸ™„ C'mon now ! I'm getting a headache trying to process this. Boots, Horns, and giggers. That's why there aren't more wild trout in MO. šŸ˜‚
  2. I doubt that the entirety of BS is loaded with zebra's. Likely certain zones are, and if you were to locate similar "zones" in TR I'm sure you'd find some. How thick they are in those zones changes from year to year. We had them real thick in my area of LO about 6 years ago, but they aren't thick at all anymore.
  3. Theoretically if you can turn over rocks and find golden stoneflies, or if you can find baetis mayflys (round headed swimmers), and green cased Caddis worms, then that stream can also support trout, and trout should be able to successfully reproduce. How prolifically they can reproduce depends on the amount of suitable substrate. Clinger mayflys (flat headed rock clingers), scuds, hellgrammites, and black stoneflies mean nothing (troutwise)....but if Black stones are present in good numbers then water quality is considered šŸ‘Œ(as in uncontaminated and with good oxygen content). This is old school information that didn't take a biologist degree to figure out. 😊 Eggs deposited in the runs (where gravel begins turning to sand) are where the best chance of hatching is at.
  4. The fisheries biologist from the Niangua region stands firm in his belief that trout can't successfully spawn in the Niangua, but myself and several others know that isn't true. They absolutely do and I can show you 6-8 places where it happens. Outlaw gigging and you'd see plenty of stream bred Niangua fish. This one took a leech from a red A few babies
  5. I'm sure a few try.... but let's get real here. šŸ™„ Between the boots and the whistle they don't have a chance.
  6. Dynamite powersite and you'd have plenty of habitat. 😊
  7. The rebar stretch is the end of the spawn habitat at Taney. That ain't big enough to support much, and it gets trampled too much. The White has shoal after shoal of good habitat.
  8. I'm shocked that he doesn't already know. You can't rattle those doctors, they have better lawyers than you do. Don't waste your time/money.
  9. Was 4-wheelin with my cousin in his Toyota once during deer season, we hooked a snatch rope to a Ford to try to get a guy out of a ditch and when he gave it the final Hail Mary attempt his airbag blew up in his face. Scared the hell out of us !
  10. Well let's see......I drove/rode for 37 years without one. Don't know anyone saved by one. And I know one person who crashed BECAUSE of one. So sure I'm game. 😊
  11. You'll be so glad that you asked šŸ™„ I knew I had to wait around until 9:ish because I had a guy stopping by, but he didn't get here until 9:40 so it was a bit after 10 when I got rid of him, then Orion and I were getting rowdy in the kitchen and one of his claws almost ripped my toe off. Got that doctored up and then the phone rang, dealt with that, then Sugarbritches hands me a stack of envelopes and says "we're out of stamps and these need to go out today, you're gonna have to stop by the post office on your way". At that point I was like....piss on it. Next opportunity for me is Sunday or Monday. So where are you going ?
  12. Flash from a reflective bait is probably equally insignificant as well. Since the light is coming from above the surface....and no bait has light bending capabilities. Those flickers of light that we see coming from a school of shad are likely only seen by eagles and osprey's. I notice when playing with baits in the swimming pool that you never see flashes of light reflecting off the sides or bottom of the pool, below the bait. So even though I'll pick a gold bladed spinnerbait almost every time....it probably doesn't matter.... unless I am fishing for eagles and osprey's.
  13. What should drag down the property value is that you will be under such scrutiny while living there. A simple rule of no unlicensed vehicles, and no tolerance for squalor, is reasonable. But buying a place where you can't have a boat/camper in your driveway, a badminton court set up in your yard, or the freedom to do maintenance on your equipment, is a bit much. You might as well live in an apartment....So why don't you? If you were to go outside and practice fly casting in your yard I bet your neighbors would be peeking through the curtains while on the phone with the president of the HOA......"This guy is out here waving a stick around and I need to check the mail....but I'm scared to go out there. Help!"
  14. Good, cuz I might need one if I ever meet Ness, he wants to pummel me. I could just puff up my suit and flip him the bird. 🤭
  15. Guess my pickle wasn't big enough, the fishing trip today got squashed.😟 Maybe Sunday or Monday.
  16. Yeah I dunno, fish are weird. Some Ozark streams don't have goggle-eye for no apparent reason.
  17. Yeah those gargantuan transducers are putting permanent scars on my legs and knees these days. Rates right up there with these...
  18. I remember seeing an airbag suit that puffed up like the Sta-Puft marshmallow man if you got ejected from your motorcycle or ATV. I can't remember if that was a real thing or if it was a Super Dave Osborne skit.
  19. It's that damnedable 5 county thing again, ain't it?
  20. Then why don't the Browns just adjust (like any other fish) and begin spawning later ?
  21. That assumption would indicate that the triggering factor for spawning movements is the length of the day, rather than other more important things that would change as you moved N. S. E. or W. Otherwise brown trout in this region would just spawn a bit later, right? Why would LMB in Louisiana and Georgia spawn earlier than LMB in Missouri ? (Same species, not talking FL. bass) White bass in southern Mo. begin spawning runs 2-3 weeks before the whites begin moving in mid-Mo. So it is not " length of day", it is obviously weather/water condions. Again....same species/just different places. Here I go doubting the Scientists again, probably gonna get slammed. šŸ™„
  22. This guy had devoted his whole working life to his job in a pickle factory. One day he came home and told his wife he'd been fired from his job. She was pissed at the company he'd worked for, shouting, "You've given that place twenty years of devoted service. Why the hell did they fire you?" The guy says, "For the whole twenty years I've worked there I have been tempted to stick my dick in the pickle slicer and today I finally did it!" The wife screamed in horror and ran over to her husband. She pulled his pants down to see what damage had been done. "You look okay" she said, ....."So what happened to the pickle slicer?" The guy said, "They fired her, too". 😊
  23. This seems like a good thread for a hijack. Look at the size of this PICKLE ! I'm quitting work at 9:30 and going to Bennett and/or the river tomorrow to practice some trout spey, anybody else wanna go ? I'll share my pickle šŸ˜‰
  24. Yeah, so don't do a moly unless you know how to quiet down your toes.
