  1. I see that, and worse, all the time. How many years before you have to replace your garden hose? I'm blown away that so many people think that a fuel hose should last longer.
  2. Oh goodie! Let's tear her down and examine what actually caused her to blow, shall we? I bet it wasn't fuel quality. Being a 2.5 Merc my money is on an oil pump drive gear failure, or detonation from over-advanced ignition timing. Or....just plain old piss poor engineering.
  3. I'm not that big on night fishing but I always do at least one all nighter every year during the July full moon period. A black/blue 10" Power worm and a buzzbait have been the only 2 rods on the deck the last 3 years. Always a good time.
  4. Excellent! 👍
  5. Earlier today it was alligators, now it's spiders. It's getting worse all the time!
  6. I ALWAYS watch out for spiders. Why would tonight be any different?
  7. I ran the Mississippi alot as a youngster and thought I had "big river cred" but I put in at Portland on the Missouri and got pretty spooked. I don't like that river at all. It creeps me out.
  8. If you're referring to the speedo port of an outboard lower unit...yeah they suck, and a tiny leaf fragment will put you out of business. An actual pitot though has an oblong port and will still read accurate when partially blocked, since regardless of the size of the port pressure remains the same. Unless you smack something big enough to kick it up or break it then it always reads, and if it reads at all....then it reads accurate and is instantaneous when speed changes. Of course none of this matters at all 🙄 I just like to point out that old school simple technology is often the most reliable. It will definitely read 1mph, and .01 mph just flat out doesn't matter unless you are a powerboat racer trying to set a record.
  9. Analog guages that measure pressure are inherently consistent. Tire pressure guages, compression guages, and fuel/water pressure guages will almost always read exactly the same. The mechanics of that are just really simple.
  10. I have a pitot speedo in my bass boat just because I have them here and it didn't cost me anything to install it.....and there was already a hole in the console anyway. Otherwise I couldn't care less how fast I am going. My 18'Ranger/150 Evinrude tops out at 62 mph with just me in it. 58 mph with a passenger. Oddly enough the livewells being full/empty or the amount of fuel I'm carrying doesn't measurably effect the top end speed, but does effect the hole shot.
  11. Good question, I don't know. Hold the boat stationary in the current and see what your reading is, then do the math. Probably be a 3 mph (or less) variance.
  12. Believe it or not, water pressure analog speedo's are very accurate. The only problem with them is that the water pickup on most outboard lower units gets clogged easily. The fix is to install a standard speedo pitot to the transom and move the hose over to the pitot. They will kick up if you strike anything so if the speedo stops working you'll have to reach over and snap it back down. GPS is a little flakey unless you are running at a certain RPM for a 1/8-1/4 mile. Analog speedo's record speed changes immediately.
  13. Yeah they raise premium brookies and rainbows and sell to fancy restaurants all over the country. Occasionally they escape and end up on my kitchen table. 😋 Look at the color of the meat on these rainbows....
  14. Slobber Knockin'! 😃 I'm stealing that one.
  15. Wouldn't you think that since hatchery trout are specifically raised to be caught, kept, and eaten, that they'd feed them something that didn't ruin the flavor of them? Not sure what they feed the ones raised at Troutdale but they are always delicious.
  16. I always enjoyed bird hunting and small game hunting way more than deer stand sitting. Truly good areas for quail, squirrel, rabbits, ect. became extremely hard to find after I moved away from my home town. And from talking to my buddies up home it isn't what it used to be up there anymore either.
  17. While it may not be the ideal river craft, if you wanna use your duck boat to fish out of the few times you go to the river/creek there's nothing wrong with that. It beats walking the banks or fishing from an inner tube.
  18. I haven't been out after dark but from what I've heard lately you're not alone. The catfish guys are even doing much better during mid-day than they are late evenings and after dark.
  19. Deminished gun rights and gun hysteria are one reason. Land access is another. The authorities are always bitchin that so many are breaking laws while doing it, so why do they wish even more people were out there? Makes no sense. On one hand they are worried about too many animals getting killed....and on the other hand they claim to want more people out there killing animals. Make up your freakin' mind !
  20. They are just meat deer, no trophys and very few mature bucks, so nobody wants to hunt here. We can only consume one per year in this house, and don't have freezer space for any more than that anyway. 30-50 per year get killed on the roads within 2 miles of here every year yet there seems to be no noticable effect at all on the population. I don't understand why they won't let people that can truly use the meat kill all they want. It would be better than letting them rot in the ditches.
  21. Well maybe they should call it something else then? Because owning 5 acres makes you just as much of a "landowner" as 500 acres does. I have 12 acres and there are enough deer on it for 3 guys to all have a successful hunt without hurting the population.
  22. Well yeah they are, but venison had nothing to do with it. Odds are that if they'd ate more of it, and less Taco Bell, they would be in better condition. 😊
  23. They've been at this "studying" stage for a long time. Something tells me they are milking it in the same way that "cancer research" is being milked. Nobody involved wants to get to the bottom of the issue because then they'll need to find (or invent) something else to study in order for all these "specialist's" to remain employed (needed). A brief look into history will likely show that all the men responsible for finding genuine "cures" died as poor as a church mouse.
  24. I eat bratwurst and summer sausage, so yes I probably have.
  25. All I know is.....The next time I say something stupid, or something that pisses everybody off around here.... y'all remember that I might just have a prion in my brain, and have pity FOR CHRIST SAKE! 😥
