Y'all that get too accustom to using all those ultra-cool high-dollar electronic gagets to catch fish are gonna be like lost shivering kittens when the day comes that you need to catch 'em without it. Saw a video recently where the guy was struggling and whining all day about how disabled he was because his massive console unit had refused to power up. He apologized for the lack of success he had that day, and promised that the next upcoming video should be much better since he'd have it fixed or replaced by then. Pretty sad. 😄

Ahh, add a spiral notebook and a calculator. That puts my guess to 30,010.00

I know very little about what it costs to build a 40ft. bridge, but I find it hard to look at this and find 750k Hell my generous guess, including labor and everything else I can squeeze in there, falls short of 30k so I must be grossly out of touch. Pete? 🤔

Gonna be doing some clearing out of excess fishing/outdoorsy items over the next few months. Figured I'd post them here and anyone that would agree to reimburse me the shipping can snatch them up before they get donated elsewhere, and I'll send them your way. First up: I don't even own a VHS player anymore.

I have a roll of Lifesaver's on my "desk"! That's the best I can do 🙄

😊 The hard work and dedication award goes to DNR (IMO). 💪😏
-
Right on. Well I did the same thing that the agent did for FREE, and MDC never even thanked me. And darn sure never wrote a post about it. DNR did thank me, more than once, for reporting it, and called me personally after it was all resolved to inform me of the actions they took. Which was gratifying and indicated that they truly cared.
-
Yeah I read and interpreted it perfectly. So why are we (you) giving Kudo's to MDC and not the DNR ? That was my off handed point. (Don't get all pissy, Chief!)😘

I found a piece of machinery left sitting in a creek leaking hydraulic fluid. Called MDC and they told me that it needed to be reported to DNR (didn't offer to forward the info, but did give me a number to call). DNR pounced on it immediately, located the owner of the machinery, determined that he was unlicensed, investigated who he had been selling gravel to and prohibited them all from ever purchasing gravel from the guy again, and possibly/probably hit him with a healthy fine. Thanks MDC ! 😋

Time to get creative with some bacon and some dippin' dye. 🤔

Well, the way it's REALLY DONE is with a seine, but I get what you're sayin'. You should try to catch a squirrel like that 😂 A whitetail buck on a flippin' stick would be fun as hell !

On a serious note... Can you use these? I don't like them, and I'll gladly send them to ya if you can use them.

It is. I've been using it for trips to Bennett just to keep the gas from going bad. Holler if you'd like to check it out.

The ol'boy (Mike) that runs GreenMill campground on the Little Niangua is a character just like that. If he likes you you just know it, but if he doesn't then it's best to not even look in his direction. And just because he chews you out about something doesn't necessarily mean that he doesn't like you. I get my rear-end chewed for driving too fast through the campground every time I go out there....."Bygod, Sims, if you run over my G-D dogs I'll just flat kill ya!"....And I don't think I've ever exceeded 10mph 😂 He will never take my money for using his ramp so I always just take him some PBR or Stag, but never more than a 12-pack because if you give him more than that you'll have to stay until it's gone. One evening he got on a crying drunk talking about how lonely he was and how much he missed his brother that had passed. I told him he needed to find him a good woman, and he said he thinks about that alot..... but ------- he just doesn't have time to get cleaned up and go to town.....as if that's all it would take. If you knew Mike then you'd know how hilarious that is. 🤣 Good dude though, genuinely good, and he honestly worries about people.

I first was shown it by a guy named Conrad Charles up in Mexico, and of course he took credit for coming up with it not by specifically stating that he did, but by the way he whispered about it. I tried it on a variety of baits but it just seemed to kill the action and honestly I didn't stick with it long enough to learn to like it. There has yet to be a bait, or a modification, that fails to catch fish.

Nice guy for sure, I've been watching his stuff for quite awhile. He has that Harold Ensley thing going on. Very PC, and he does a fine job of editing and putting together videos.

What river? We ran alot of rivers in the 60's-70's and knew nothing of any "guides", except for the ones on the White and the upper Mississippi. And they were all commercial fishermen/drunks. Who did you have to be in order to get a guide referral in Missouri back then? Can you imagine hiring a 12 year old for a guide 😊 Just carry along some Skittles for a tip.
-
I dunno. Somebody needs to mail Jerry and a few others a Z-Man Chatterbait and really blow their mind.
-
That's only about the 5th guy that I've heard take credit for that particular modification. 😂 The one thing that all have in common is the claim that the old crusty vinyl skirts of yesteryear are the preferred material. That little detail right there indicates that it originated from somewhere other than the minds of all but one of the guys claiming it. That tweek has been a thing with old river fishermen since back before crankbaits had lips on them. I first saw it done to surface plugs and Lazy Ike's back in the early 70's. Along with backward skirts put on the brush guard of the old Johnson Silver Minnow spoons.

The house we are in now was built new in '06 and I had the breaker box placed in the master bedroom closet. In 2011 my wife kept smelling "something" in the closet, it didn't smell like anything hot but smelled more like fresh plastic and sometimes the smell was stronger than other times. I actually thought it was just the new carpet, paint, or something. Then one night the hot water wasn't very warm so I went to check the water heater breaker, and when I opened the closet door there was visable smoke coming from around the breaker panel. I tried to kill the main breaker and it was stuck, wouldn't move to the off position. I have another main switch outside that kills the power to both house and shop so I ran out and threw that one. Called the electrician that installed it and it turned out to be a bad main breaker that was only allowing 40% of the current to pass through it. Had to replace the whole service and all of the breakers that were less than 5 years old. Within the next 6 months I had to have a well pump and water heater control boards and elements replaced (all were brand new 4 years ago) then the next year the heat pump electrical system went south. Voltage losses reap havoc with everything downstream of the problem causing it. I see the same type thing happen in boats and outboard charging systems all the time. When voltage drops, for whatever reason, things start getting hot right away.

Yikes! I have fire paranoia to the point that it irritates everyone else in the house/shop. Leaving the house while the clothes dryer is running or a crock pot/coffee pot is on gives me genuine anxiety. One of the girls left a hair straightener on sitting right next to a plastic bottle of nail polish remover. I seriously contemplated putting her up for adoption.

Oh THAT place 🙄 Pffft! It's a gar hole. Try below bagnell if you wanna do some bank fishin'. Easy access, lots of fish.
