Deer Cr. and the Buffalo's all get good runs. Wanna hook up and launch an attack ?
-
I went from cute to stud, then from stud to "handsome". Hate to say it, but I think I'm working my way back to cute again. You're pretty cute!
-
#6's I tie 2 1/2" #4's just barely 3" (or a little shy) Yeah size is a "thing" for sure. If Hybrids are what you're chasing then you'll wanna carry some bigger stuff as well, like Billethead's H&H.

Don't forget the good old Lefty's Deciever for those times when the only thing that matters is being able to cast A LONG WAYS. Cuz you can cast a Deciever further than anything, and they will eat it during a blitz.
-
Greg Coffey's Sparkleminnow is a good one to have in your box when they get tired of looking at Clousers Big water pushers like the Dahlberg Flashdancer Or Bulkhead Deciever Don't get caught from early Summer thru late Fall without a few Crease fly's, they do double duty. Great on top....and even better fished on a sink tip. 3 1/2" long Fur strip muddlers are wicked good Murdich Minnow's are killer when a little more flash is desired That should keep you busy for awhile. Awe, look how cute he was!

Once again the FB page is flooded with prayers. I hope they work THIS time. If not be sure to share the GoFundMe info since apparently nobody has insurance these days. Dam it People !

Oh boy, good topic! I've experimented with eye placement on Clousers and came to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter, just decide on what looks best to you and keep them all consistent. The truly important thing is attaching them to the tippet with a no-slip loop knot. In the spring up in the creeks I like a #6 with a 1/50oz dumbbell eye fished on a mono/flouro leader. In the Fall out over the flats I step it up to a #4 with 1/40oz. eyes and fish it on a sink tip or sinking leader. Chart/white is a consistent killer everywhere and almost all the time, but sometimes (ultra clear water) gray/white gets more bites. Pink/white is excellent in dirty water, and Blk/chart is good in chocolate milk water like right after a spring flood. I'll discuss other patterns in a later post if you really want to get me all fired up about it.

I'm happy ! Never been happier ! Who's griping? I ain't griping. Turkey's ain't griping. Hell the coyotes aren't even griping. You! You are griping

Phil ! They're pickin' on me!

I understood what you meant perfectly. My point is that they are just as vulnerable, if not moreso, sitting high up in a dang tree, on a ridgetop, under the moonlight. If I wanted to poach a turkey I could probably find one easier at night than I could during the day.
-
You didn't. You said they prohibited coyote hunting during the daylight hours, for a certain period of time, to protect turkeys. Then you talked about how easy it was to see under a big moon with a blanket of snow. My point was that if a rule breaking hunter could see a coyote on the ground, he could darn sure see a turkey on the roost, and could easily help him out of the tree. And the likelyhood of him getting caught doing that at night is way less than him getting caught shooting a turkey during the day. So how does prohibiting coyote hunting during the day, but allowing it at night, protect turkeys? Someone saying "it was a mistake, I thought that turkey was a coyote" is no more crazy than mistaking an elk for a whitetail. A coyote might be able to sleep in a tree, you don't know ! Shooting coyotes out of trees is not prohibited is it?

After the goose fajita indoctrination... I am duck nugget curious.

As tight as your neighborhood is I imagine you gotta choose your shots very carefully. Might be better/safer to let the cat do the job. Or take up falconry

Appreciate the offer, but scope length is a consideration with the Swarm guns, I'm limited to a maximum overall length of 12.5" (which eliminates a bunch of good scopes). So far that's the only negative about the 10x system. The Leapers 3-9x32AO is about the only thing that'll make me happy right now.

We have a 6 month old wolf running loose around here now. Some doofus brought it back here from Colorado (a weed run no doubt) and it bit and then got away from him the first day back home. They supposedly arrested the dude but nevertheless we still have the wolf running loose.
-
So nobody's gonna say... "-------, that turkey looked just like a coyote sittin' up there in the moonlight"? Typical MDC reasoning. That's a good way to get somebody's coondog killed. I wish we could hunt turkeys with an air rifle. Doves too. That'd be fun.

This gun actually shoots best when not cranked down super tight. I have loc-tite and lock washers on all the screws and they are snug and holding. If it looses zero again I'll pull a few patches through the barrel, and if that doesn't help then I'm ordering the UTG Leaper that I've wanted from day one. It pretty much has to be the scope because the grouping stayed fine, only the POI changed.

Fish in the toilet and you won't need the post hole digger.

Well I have some stupidity going on now. Was out back plinking dinosaurs at 40yds and then all of a sudden I couldn't hit anything. Threw up a paper target and suddenly for no apparent reason I was 2" low and 1" right. Checked all screws and everything was still solid. Made a scope adjustment (took about 12 clicks total) and then put 10 in a dime sized bullseye at 30yds., Shook it around, tapped on the scope and retried it....still on Zero. Not sure what happened but I suspect the Gamo scope may be about to puke. What else would cause my zero to suddenly change by 12 clicks?

Too smart is more like it. Nothing anchors a deer RIGHT NOW, and eliminates all that crawling around looking for specks of blood in the leaves nonsense like a slug !

FLW Angler Missing, Day 2 Canceled
fishinwrench replied to shrapnel's topic in General Angling Discussion
On the FB page (before they shut it down) somebody posted that he was a survival instructor in the Marines. With any luck at all he is sitting on a log somewhere chewing on a gator tail, and he'll make his way into town shortly. 👍 They had to shut the open FB page down because everyone wouldn't quit announcing that they were praying, and it was making it impossible to follow pertinent information. I'm sure they appreciate the prayers but I think they need everyone to direct them UP THERE instead of down here. -
We hunted Audrain and Monroe counties. There always seemed to be "too many" coyotes until we started hunting them. We got all fired up about it because we thought they were killing all the quail. I think they started being 100% nocturnal up there, and we just couldn't get many shots on them. One of my customers is on the Outdoor network (John Embry), he kills quite a few of them but they put a ton of time into it.

Yeah, but how many coyotes have you shot in the last year or two ? Way back when I was seriously into predator hunting I spent a lot of time and money on guns, ammo, calls, portable blinds, and we even had a short bed 4x4 truck specifically rigged for it. Me and a buddy were into it big-time for about 4 years, and during my most successful year all I killed was 3 coyotes. My predator hunting arsenal consisted of a Win.M70 .243, a Win.1200 12ga. with #4buck, and a S&W 586 in .357 When I reflect back on all the time and money we spent doing that I feel pretty foolish. It really wasn't as much fun as we wanted it to be. The calling never worked, all it ever did was call in dogs from neighboring farms....and that insured that you weren't gonna see a coyote or fox that day. I'd say that shooting each coyote cost me about 350.00 and honestly it wasn't that much of a thrill. I'm pretty sure that I've had more enjoyment out of this air rifle in the last month than I've had in a lifetime of shooting big boy guns.
-
No worse than a fine flyrod though. For the price of a halfway decent stick of graphite with some guides wrapped on it you can buy a darn fine air rifle, scope, and a shitton of pellets. As a whole I find most air gun stuff to be quite affordable.

Hydraulic steering

Oh, and don't give in to the wise idea that filing the edge of the rod will help coax the scraper past it....unless you have the tools and time to polish where you filed to a mirror finish.
