Pfft. It's easier on the arms than that 'youknowhat' that YOU got me started on last Spring. Throwing that thing all day will make you hurt clear to your knees ! Throwing the Redeye just loosins your wrist up good. And from the sound of it Buckcreekmike will benefit from that.

The backends of any of the bigger coves. Brushy cr., Alcorn, Bollinger, ect. should be fine. The wider/flatter the back end = the better. Keep the boat in 5-8' and just burn the banks with that lipless crank. Make semi-parallel casts where you can. You may stumble onto a specific location pattern, if you do.....go with it. But until then just keep moving and cover the whole area.

Oh Yay, Starlight creek lives again.

Well in your case it would make you prettier, so that's OK.

2 rednecks are walking along the river bank and come across a dead possum. One grabs it and starts to eat it, and offers some to the other redneck. The other one says he doesn't want any of the possum. A few minutes later the fella who ate the possum started puking and the other took off his hat and put it under the heaving rednecks mouth. He said I thought you didn't like possum, to which he replied "I was jus' waitin for it to be warmed up". -
I was going across the 64 bridge yesterday and noticed something shiny on the bridge pavement. At the last instant I realized it was a decent looking rigged fly rod (nice rod/machined reel) it wasn't a cheapie. Another car was approaching and the lanes are too narrow to swerve, so I creamed it and the pieces went flying. I didn't even bother to go back and look. It is destroyed, Sorry! Someone obviously left it sitting on a bumper or something.

If you want to have a good NUMBERS day, just go to the backend of Buck cr., and the other coves nearby, and throw a 1/2oz. Redeye shad off the banks. Plenty of 12-16 inchers scattered about and they'll hammer that lipless crank all day long.

Guys running around in bass boats looking like this....are going to give us a bad name. Imagine you are a dock owner, you look out and a pair of THESE are flipping your dock. Can you just go on about your business or are you gonna keep a close eye on them until they leave your cove ? Maybe go down and throw them a Snicker bar? WTF?

This stuff The ultra long fibered stuff like "Palmer Chenille" isn't stiff enough to push water. I'm not aware of Thicker/Longer Estaz but if they make it I'd try it.

Color definitely matters, and alot of it is seasonal. Nobody can argue the effectiveness of a Red rattletrap in early Spring and a Chrome one thereafter, a Bubblegum lizard during the spawn, a Chart/wht Spinnerbait during Spring and Fall, a Black/blue jig in early Spring/late Fall, Natural shad colored jerkbaits in Feb-March, ect. The sales of Green Pumpkin/Pumpkin pepper/Tequila Sunrise plastics are off the charts and that isn't because of any fad, it is because they are Ultra effective more times than not. Some color things are personal, like I can't throw anything with Orange on it. But the staple colors have all been figured out IMO and I stick with them.

Yeah and I dont like it. But I recently had my @zz handed to me on numbers and that's what the dude in the front of the boat was throwing.....So estaz (although it never has worked well for me) gets a second chance. Lancer, I learned the Murdich pattern on YT, I tie them just like the original. Bucktail, flashabou, Ice dub, Estaz. I actually wish there was a size THICKER Estaz. The FATTER the head - the better it dances. I'm honestly not yet convinced that the Murdich is better than a Dahlberg Flashdancer. With a Flashdancer you can make the head as big as you want. Now those "poppers" aren't actually poppers. Don't let their Blockhead resemblance fool ya. I fish them on a sink-tip and strip them like a streamer. They have a gurgling wiggle that is out of this world. Try one and thank me later.

Don't get me started. That was the straw for me as well. Totally ruined the Highbank stretch. -
When 33 pounds only makes you break even that's hard to take. Ouch !

Well just in case you missed the memo, smallmouth take forever to grow, so if you rely on them for food you'll soon eat yourself out of food for a long LONG time. They ain't like chickens. If there are so many otters .. Eat THEM. Quit bullshitting. You fish/hunt because you enjoy it, not because you need food. There are way easier/cheaper ways to feed yourself than fishing and hunting. Nothing wrong with an occasional fish fry, but let's get real here. -

Naw, it's in the bible. "Thou shalt not hide thy weiner behind grappling bits of steel". Speaking of which....Why does God have a Weiner ? Adam was created in gods image, complete with a Weiner, so therefore God must be packin'. -

OK, so MDC gave you a deer, that should offset the shortage of smallmouth in your diet. I'm just ribbin' ya, Oneshot. I like you and I'm not upset if you eat a few Smallies. I know that if the day came that smallmouth were in danger you'd choose not to eat them until populations were restored. Besides, people like you that eat regularly from a stream are (or should be) the greatest and most diligent friends that a river can have when it comes to pollution and over use of the waterways. Do you see problems with the use of the NIANGUA, and is your voice heard as loudly regarding THAT as it is in regards to gay folk who effect you none whatsoever ? -

Well.....homosexuals don't like being told what they can't do either. All we know about the word of God is what is written in the bible, and the ones that did the writing were way more twisted than ANY homosexual I've ever met. Ya know why sheep herders wore robes ? Because sheep can hear a zipper a mile away. -
Not sure why that is or how to fix it.

The LEGAL consumption of fish/game for sustainability is no bargain. License, tackle, baits, ammo, fuel, ect. If a person is truly providing their family diet from the woods and streams then they are either unlawful or stupid. Because it costs more to legally harvest game than it costs to buy healthy food. -

I don't think anyone is C&R with Goggleye. Eat them up! Smallmouth are a different story. -
Very good! I can get a limit of 15-16 inchers now but I haven't caught a 3+ pounder in weeks.
-
Definitely our native Buffalo. They are very hard to catch.

You can't solicit a bite based on hunger unless fish truly ARE hungry and seeking food. You gotta play on some different instincts, and doing that (on purpose) requires knowing exactly (almost) where some fish are at. I think that immediate bites (on the fall) are the bites missed most by anglers on those slow days. They simply never knew they even had a bite. All that jigging, hopping and seductive twitching and dragging along bottom or through cover is a waste of time some days, but the fish WILL bite on the initial drop ALOT when your cast lands in the right spot. Ya gotta watch for that and set the hook instantly when your instincts tell you that something about the way that bait is sinking just doesn't seem quite right.
-
Noway ! Ultra clear water reservoirs are not my thing. I used to live on Lanier.....spent many fishless days when I could see exactly where they were. It's frustrating.
