  1. Hmmm, well if I had taken off from PB2 I wouldn't have fished the same places so it's hard to say how well I could have done fishing the mid-lake area. The other 7 hours of my day was spent working on this monster... ...so I probably made more money than the BFL winner that day.
  2. Heck yeah ! That's why most only fish it in the dead of Winter.
  3. As hi-tech as we think we've become, fish still bite just about anything that moves... and a lot of things that don't.
  4. You'll probably have 130ish for highs but compression PSI above 90 is OK as long as all cylinders are within 15% of each other.
  5. Just FYI, you CAN splice transducer cable without any I'll effects.
  6. I pitched a tube in 1-3' and had 15lbs in 3 hours. Wish I could have fished longer, I think I could have had 18-20#.
  7. Oh NICE ! How far down was that one ?
  8. Yeah, even with a sit-backer on it I think that seat is gonna be a bit too low. I'd probably scoot it back 3-4" too, just to make room for my hound. Nice little rig though. Have fun in her !
  9. You can't fish it solo ?
  10. Before you spend a dime on carb kits, coils, ect. You need to do a compression test on all 4 cylinders. It probably does need a fuel system overhaul and some ignition/charging system work, but there's also a good chance that your 1979 140 has some sticky rings or cylinder damage. Always check compression first, then ignition system, then fuel system... whenever diagnosing engine running problems Where are you located ?
  11. You're not gonna find many agents hiding in the thickets these days, they're all afraid of tick bites. I haven't seen one more than 30 feet from his cruiser in decades.
  12. If it is tagged it is legal. I've gotten tangled in a couple over the years and always said "Sorry".
  13. Fu&#ing boats anyway !
  14. Good deal, glad Jeff could get ya back on the water. Have fun !
  15. At the current lake level you'll have a 75-100 yard stretch of ankle deep water to jump, after that you're good for several miles.
  16. Ameren is pulling the lake down pretty hard and that's not helping the bank bite out at all ! You might try fishing the 7-12' brushpiles, but until the lake level starts back upward I imagine the crappie bite will remain kinda slow. The wiggle wart and hula-grub (bass bite) is darn good though.
  17. Good point there, bumper.
  18. The White run started off like gangbusters.. .THEN they started pulling the lake down again. This causes a problem on LO because at normal levels a dam of silt/gravel builds up at the mouths of the creeks, so when they pull the lake down the fish can't make the jump and get into the creeks very easily. A few slither through anyway but the masses won't until the lake level is 657.5 or above. So now we wait.
  19. Yeah, in truth there aren't many predators of grown carp, and an overpopulation would be ugly. I guess they need to be thinned out occasionally.
  20. Yeah, I enjoy having plenty of guys to talk to about fishing, but when it's actually time to go do it I want them gone.
  21. I have a used MG 24v trolling motor here in Gravois mills that probably has the part(s) you need and you are more than welcome to come scavenge it, but first I'd recommend you give the guys at Reliable PWC a call 573-873-9994 as they probably have what you need new in stock. They are in Greenview. If you want to check out this one I have just gimme a call and I'll give you directions. 573-569-5406. Glen
  22. Just call me a "Hot water bottle".
  23. I'm on the fence with Carp. 10-15 years ago I wouldn't have cared how many were killed nor what were done with them....but NOW they have become a sportfish pretty much with guys flyfishing for them and stuff. So now, even though I'm not personally into chasing "Golden Bones" on the fly, they have kinda graduated in rank and I hate to see them killed off just to rot along the bank. It just doesn't feel right. I'd rather see them kill spoonbill to be truthful. If they just want something in the water to shoot at then invent some targets and devise a scoring system like the archery 3D shoots.
  24. Nice mess of cats ! Scared to eat those reds though. Be careful or they might be spreading your ashes sooner than you expected. J/k
  25. There are some pre-spawn females in the calm, quiet backend areas. Jigs, tubes, and flukes are getting bit. Water color really doesn't matter right now. What matters is your approach, you can't go into those skinny little backends and make a bunch of racket, you have to turn all your humming/clicking gizmo's off and be careful not to put the fish into "safe mode" with errant casts and such. Or if that doesn't suit your style then you can just burn down the banks with a wiggle wart and crap shoot a limit of keepers.
