  1. That's what I'm talkin' about. Let's get to work on that.
  2. What in the world.....? 32 wheels? Is that thing built out of plutonium? Interesting. I can't wait to hear the story on that (obviously multi-million dollar) piece of equipment.
  3. Ok cool. I'll give him the numbers and holler back if he has a match. Prolly take a few days cuz he's buried in mower and golf cart work now.
  4. Shows how much I know about muskie. I didn't know that they couldn't cope with off-colored water.
  5. Does the flywheel have a part# on it anywhere? My neighbor has a scrap 17hp B&S that might possibly have the same flywheel.
  6. Ouch! Yep it's toast. Have you searched ebay?
  7. How did shearing a soft aluminum woodruff key destroy the flywheel?
  8. Yep, nothing wrong or threatening about having a hobby that has the potential to pay for itself. I don't believe that the chance to make a couple grand once a year would "cause a riot below Truman, and decimate the spoonbill population beyond repair". If you offered me 2k to take up needlepoint I'd most likely tell you to keep it. I'm betting that these numbers concerning the value of unprocessed roe are being highly exaggerated. I bet if you had a whole bushel basket full of them you could not find anyone to give you 4k for it.
  9. Sorry to hear about your Pops, that's a tough one. How are the white bass rebounding at Pomme?
  10. Long Branch seems like it would be a good candidate for Muskie. That'd keep those crappie in check too.
  11. For a country, its waters and atmosphere that is reportedly on a fast slope into hell ....there sure is alot of records being broken lately.
  12. I attempted to make that comparison in my head too...but it doesn't fly. Black bass aren't stocked, and are for the most part released alive. The closest comparison (of a fish being stocked via tax-payers dollars and then revenue being generated by it) would be trout, I think. But we (tax payers) don't get to touch that revenue, it is expected to be a non-profit. At least directly.
  13. Wow! How did I miss this? Is the mark in question is still standing ?
  14. LOL, Yep. Come back covered in mud and stick-tights and I still love'em. Come back loaded with ticks...that's my boy, I'll fix it. But come back all slimed up, smelling of dead rotted flesh....and I just wanna kick'em in the face.
  15. Never compiled any mortality numbers but I can tell ya that after snagging season the coons, buzzards and turtles get fed pretty good. I have had the pleasure of riding back to the ramp with a wet labrador retriever who found a dead spoonbill, or gar on the bank to roll in more times than I care to recall.
  16. ^^^^That is some priceless stuff right there ^^^^ Somebody owes you a beer!
  17. Alot of folks do tend to get greedy when it comes to Whites. Just because the legal daily limit is 15 doesn't mean you have to load the freezer every time you find a school that is biting the way that whites are famous for. They really aren't like mushrooms where you had better "get them while you can". If you learn a bit more about them youll find that you can catch them all year....not just when they are on spawning runs, so there's really no need to hammer them so hard during the Spring so you can still have whites to eat in August. They eat best fresh
  18. Hopefully I'll be too busy keeping all of you snaggers boats running to go snagging myself. Appreciate the invite but I'll take the GUARANTEED 85.00/hr. instead of a shot at the spoonbill roe lottery.
  19. Justin, I'm not talking about a natural and non-renewable resource. I'm talking about spoonbill taken legally. Soon it would drive caviar prices down, no doubt, so the threat of spoonbill extinction would be short lived. Right now there are folks that need some extra cash. I just don't see any harm in allowing them the opportunity. That's all. And the ones selling the eggs aren't the only ones that would benefit. Think of your "resort brethren" on the Osage.
  20. Darn fine alternative to cooking meth IMO Get the crackheads out fishing and they might discover a life better/healthier than the one they are currently living. The freakin season is only a month long, why not let the ones that want to, capitalize on it? The money they get for their roe will most likely stay local, and that's a good thing for everyone. To deny folks a little monetary boost for something that DOES require some effort because you assume there'll be some "issues" arise, is a pathetic excuse. We know some folks will drive home drunk yet it is STILL legal to sell booze at a roadside bar. Why is that legal? Because the local revenue gets a boost from it.
  21. LOL, Think they'll be stormin' Feather-Craft and/or Wapsi any day now?
  22. There is simply no victim involved when selling eggs from fish that are legally caught. Limits regulate how many can be legally kept, transported, and when they can be caught, ect. so nobody is gonna make a living out of it.... except the lawyers if this remains a felony offense. I just recently bought deer tails, where did they come from? Wild turkey feathers? Wood duck flanks? The overpunishment of victimless "crimes" is totally out of control and should be a federal crime in and of itself. The enforcement of "laws" has become too much of a lucrative business in this land IMO.
  23. So who do y'all think deserves to be punished worse, these guys or the spoonbill egg sellers? Now, who do you think WILL BE punished worse?
  24. That's just insane, who even wants to clean that many fish in one evening ? Everyone acts like Whites can't possibly be overfished, but given their habits (gathering en masse in a confined area) I am reasonably sure that they can be.
