  1. http://www.lakenewsonline.com/lake_ozark/x...r-training-spot I guess if Taney was closer they'd commandeer it for their games ? This is BS !
  2. lonkm, I can get them and mail to you if needed, but a quicker option would be to fabricate your own from stainless steel, or aluminum roll pins, via your local hardware store. If you have the prop wrench that comes with it, pry the pressed on cap off the handle of the wrench and you'll find 2 spare drive pins inside it. If you need me to send you some shoot me a PM with the make, model# and serial# and I'll hook you up.
  3. The Fall turnover will put the skids on it. And that normally begins within a few days (+/-) of the Daylight Savings Time switch, every year. So you've got a good month left before it goes to crap on the main lake.
  4. Carburetor cleaner (spray) will kill the little bastages...but it burns like hell for about 40 seconds if you aren't used to it. I practically bathe in the stuff on a weekly basis so it doesn't burn very bad anymore. I can't even smell it (scary I know). After the burning stops there's no more itch, and the bites heal in about 3-4 days. I'm betting that this technique isn't very healthy ....but it does work. Fly head cement or clear nail polish does the same thing Chiggerid does...or so I've heard.
  5. '86 Pantera?......darn good hull ! A little slippery on turns, but that's not always a bad thing (keeps you from getting thrown out). All this talk about whites/hybrids has got me wanting to chase them again for a few trips.....thinkin' about taking the 7wt., and every pink fly I own, for a trip or two below Bagnell.
  6. I gotta agree with that. Unless you have some decent current moving in the direction you WANT to go I think it's easier to wade, bushwhack, or swim, than to paddle or row anything inflatable.
  7. I've never fished the Osage in the Fall....but I'm fixin' to give it a shot. Any tips or info that will save me some time locating fish would be greatly apprieciated. thanks, Wrench
  8. Hmmm, so how do you roll..... Ginger or Mary ann ?
  9. Definately ! Look me up next Spring and we'll do it.
  10. CW, you don't have to miss out. you can wade the points in the lake just like you do the creeks. The points in the dam area of Truman are reasonably easy to access and fish from the bank, as are many good points here on LO once they drop the lake a bit.
  11. Awesome! Glad you got into 'em. Don't ya just love those ledges Whites and Hybrids are the funnest fish that swims in this lake....bar none. Good eatin' too.
  12. Spots are a sporty fish, no need to kill them like that. Is there any real proof that killing off the Spots or Largemouth increases numbers of Smallies in any given stream ? I've heard the reasoning, but I'm just not convinced that it is the ethical thing to do. Popcorn, comin' up....
  13. They've been around forever, and nobody I know uses them. So I'm guessing that they are...not so awesome. Can't hurt to try though.
  14. Not really the best time of year to be fishing the lower end IMO, but that comes from a guy that hates fishin' the mainlake stuff. You can do ok on numbers by running down a cove and burning crankbaits along the shady sides of the docks (Bomber model A). But pitchin' to the backend docks should get you some better kickers. There's a pretty decent Spook bite in the backends too...on some days. Knock'em dead
  15. Are you kiddin'me ? Considering most of the "exchanges" made between me and the guys I usually fish with, "douchebag" is extremely mild. Matteroffact... it's probably the closest thing to a term of endearment that you'll ever hear out of any of us.
  16. Yeah! This is Ozark Anglers....where we live by the rules of Bambi's Daddy. You can't call a fishin' buddy a douchebag here. You'll hurt his feelings, he'll get upset and threaten to leave forever. I'll bet you get a good scolding for that one.
  17. Gotta be careful what name you give your vessel.......That one was christened "IMPACT" (no kidding) There was a big twin big-block Scaraab few years back named "Nauti-bouy" that creamed a big flashing "No Wake / No-Anchor" bouy in Millionaire cove. And another named "Fools Paradise" that ran into the gas dock at....guess where ? LOL
  18. How 'bout passin' some o'that over here
  19. I was under the impression that every chemical in circulation had been "watered down", or to borrow a term from the drug cartel, "cut".... from the potent chemicals of the past. Often to the point that certain products that used to be effective are practically worthless now. I know that bleach, detergents, fuel, cleaners, bug spray ect. ect. are way less potent (hence more "safe") than they used to be. So I don't know how the farming industry could have avoided it.
  20. Yeah, but they are all Slackers ! Good Lord. Five shades of Green ? You are worse than my daughter Lt. Olive Olive Dk. Olive Peacock ????? . . I give up
  21. Schools of 1 1/2 to 3 lb. Channel cat make what seems to be a migratory run up the creeks in the early Fall every year. Matter of fact it is going on right now. Every September they move up and cruise the deep clear water pools in tight schools and you can sight-fish to them if you stay out of the water and out of sight. I don't know how you'd flyfish for them up in this clear water though because they are real-real spooky. I use Bowker's original or Sonny's on a 3" red dipbait worm. Toss it out on the gravel flats where you can see the bottom near a hole and stand back away from the bank and wait for them to cruise by. You'll see one or two break away from the group to inspect the bait. When you see one "stand on his head", Set the hook.
  22. Oh....Yeah. LOL Good point. Wow, we have really taken a fork in the road here. Do you consider Honey to be a natural product ? At which point in it's refinement does crude oil escape naturality, the instant it is removed from the earth, or after other elements are added/subtracted ?
  23. Zach, concentrate on points that have a ledge (shelf). That always seems to be the ticket for Hybrids.
  24. What would be considered forage for Stripers in a tailwater ? Shad wouldn't make it.
