  1. If I had to choose one it would probably be trolling motor. The one on e the concise/transom can be helpful to let you know if you are getting too shallow when running he main motor though, but for pure fishing functionality I would choose front.
  2. Bass pro now makes a mega bass clone called the bass hawk minnow. Regular price $6.99, right now on sale for $5.99. I bought one, haven't used it yet though. I know there are some mixed feelings on here about BPS, but if hey work they are 1/5 the price of a mega bass, and even a few bucks cheaper than the RC's. they don't have the smaller version yet though.
  3. Do you do that with your spinning rods too?
  4. I'm with you on the left hand reels. I am right handed and never understood why darn near every right-handed guy uses a reel with handle on the right. Most every one uses spinning reels with he crank on ge left hand, so why not baitcaster a? I figure you may want your strong arm on the rod, and you don't have to switch hands after the cast. Actually my dad is the one who started me with left hand retrieve baitcasters. My guess is that the first baitcasters were first made with right hand retrieve and every one just stuck with that.
  5. For $5 you can launch at Millstone which is about the 7.5 mile marker of the main lake, about a half mile or less up from the mouth of Gravois. Kind of a cluster-f*** trying to maneuver down the ramp, but I always put in and out there.
  6. Wow, that was a good day! Cool video. I really need to learn to skip a jig with a baitcaster.
  7. Sounds fun. Love that buzzbait bite when it gets going. Wish I was headed down, but alas, too much family stuff going on.
  8. Wow, I am green with envy! I was down at the rock last weekend and was going to use father-in-law's boat, but it had issues and couldn't keep the main engine running so fishing was a bust.
  9. Nice. Whopper plopper, or some other variety of top water? Sounds like fun regardless.
  10. Nice, looks like fun. Good job getting the girls out.
  11. Buddy and I caught about 15 keeper crappie on Saturday mainly shooting docks. There were a few 14"+ fish in the mix. Bobby Garland baby shad with 1/16oz jig head were the ticket.
  12. Sorry you didn't get more, but at least there sounds like there was plenty of action. I plan to go chasing crappie this weekend. Will be down around 7mm. Hope it turns on.
  13. My dad and father in law and I got down Saturday around noon and are leaving this morning. Fishin was great for numbers, but could not find anything of any size. We literally caught about 60 or more smallmouth on Ned rigs on gravel points and about 40 came on one point over the course of the few days. The thing is they were from 8-13 inches mostly with only a few that may have squeaked past 15". Good trip, usually catch a few that are decent sized though, but not this time. Most were caught from the shore out to about 15' deep. I knew we must have not been on the right pattern for anything big, but it was fun and kept us busy.
  14. Ha! They have the big bass bash on a hip hop station!!??
  15. That second one is especially beautiful. That is worth framing and hanging in the house.
  16. Wow, unusual suspects and a lot of them. Sounds fun.
  17. Awesome job. I need to get back down there soon.
  18. I can't say I really like how they look, but sun protection is a concern of mine. I just think it looks like it would be hot. Are they hot to wear?
  19. Long story short, it was hot, and I didn't/couldn't fish too hard. Saw a few, had a bite or two, but I got goose egged.
  20. I am going with the family and will canoe one day - a short float because I'm not sure how the kids will handle it. Can there still be any good fishing in this heat? I will fish regardless, but a little tip could help. Is topwater out of the question? I will be staying/floating near Gilbert.
  21. I have noticed that when you have certain plastics touching others in the same compartment that they "melt" each other. I think it is the two different type of plastics together that causes it. I guess sometimes it could be heat, but I try to make sure not to let two different kinds touch each other.
  22. Not sure which exact ledge you are speaking of. I know there is that shallow shoal near the back of north buck. My Pops caught these two last night.
  23. Zoom 'ol monster worm
  24. Caucght this one last night about 30 minutes after midnight. Really didn't realize how big it was until I saw the picture. I am not "long arming" it either. not sure why it is sideways or how to change it.
  25. I guarantee it is not as bad as LOZ. Jet skis are annoying bu at least they don't send out 3' wakes to jettison you from your boat. I was out on table rock in the long creek area a few years ago on Memorial Day weekend mid day and I was in heaven, couldn't believe how "calm" it was compared to any average summer weekend on LOZ.
