  1. Yepper I have a big ol thinking back upon those days!! Thanks for starting this thread. It will be pretty neat hearing how everyone got their start into fishing.
  2. The other thing Dad and I did for about an hour and a half every night at the lake was work on my baseball game. He would hit fly balls and ground balls for a while. Then I would try to find a straight stick and a pile of rocks. Dad would stand behind a tree and pitch me rocks to hit. Made a baseball pretty easy to hit after doing that! Makes a person realize there is no 'bad hop' on a baseball diamond after fielding balls on that lake ground. Man do I REALLY miss those days!!! You sure stirred up a lot of dust here with this thread it seems.
  3. Ah the old zebco 202; I remember it well. Caught a 37in pike on one using a white beetle spin when I was little enough that the pike was dang near as long as me. LOL Those little white beetle spins seem to catch about anything! Grew up fishing the missouri river and farm ponds for catfish mostly and then my parents got permission to fish a pond with bass in it. Been hooked on bass fishing ever since. I was lucky in the fact that my parents really liked to hunt and fish. No lie; we went fishing dang near EVERY night until hunting seasons started. Then it was hunting most every night. God rest their souls; I truly am grateful and blessed for my parents bringing me up the way did!!
  4. Sounds like a blast for sure! Please do post up some pictures.
  5. Thanks for posting. Thanks also to those who posted links. I ordered the magazine and have saved the study for when I get enough time to really read and study it.
  6. Great story! Good luck on your trip.
  7. Let me know what he finds and how much. I am desperately low on warts.
  8. That jerk bait looks really really good Jolicious!! The lipless look good as well but that jerk bait definitely caught my eye.
  9. There are definitely a lot of big fish caught on small lures. I have an example of a 7lb+. I saw a big fish suspended in a submerged tree on my in-laws pond. I threw soft jerk baits, worms, craws, square bill, you name it right in front of its nose and nothing; acted like it didn't even care. I had a little doll fly tied on for crappie on a spinning setup and figured I would try for some crappie since that bass 'wasn't hungry'. Well the area I catch crappie close to that tree is about 10 yards away. As soon as that little doll fly hit the water that bass SHOT out of that tree and inhaled that little jig before I knew what was going on! Got it in and it did indeed weigh a little over 7lbs. Wouldn't eat ANYTHING in front of its nose but would swim a long ways for a little fly! My wife loves a white beetle spin and I am ashamed to admit how many times she has wore me out using that thing!!
  10. That would be cool. I know nothing about 3d printers so I have to ask; how would it be able to have the body hollow?
  11. Ok. Maybe someone close to you can have you scan an old wart and see the differences between it and the supposed look alikes. That would be very interesting to see for sure.
  12. Are you trying to say the Koppers is an exact replica?
  13. The bills on all the new ones I have inspected have more of a squared off/flat front than the original warts do. I have not seen the HFC in person yet but the Brad's and the new 'original series' warts have the more square/flat bill. The new ones( both brad's and storm) also have a deeper ridge on the bottom of the bill. You can kinda see this in your pictures as well. I took a file to the bill on a Brad's and tried to match it up best I could to an original wart. With being able to walk on our water up here I have not had a chance to run them side by side to see how my butcher job on the Brad's worked out. Wish someone would come out with an exact replica of the old wart!
  14. That would be the best way to go! We all know the government won't do that though. They will sell the land for as much as possible so they can turn around and give the money to the welfare leeches; trying to buy their votes.
  15. TrophyfishR; those look really good!! Sent you a PM.
  16. I was trying to find out some more information about the closing of long creeks ramp as the wife and I were thinking of putting in there one day while on our trip. I got ahold of someone with the big bass tourny to see if they had any information since that is where their weigh-in is supposed to be. He had not heard anything about it and said he would get back with me. He ended up telling me he talked with a (name withheld) at Big Cedar and his response was; 'We don't need to worry about long creek boat ramp. They are correct on the info given. I've been apart of lots of meetings on this. All I can say at this time to reassure the ramp issue is that it's not an issue at long creek but that there will remain a fee and it will be open.' He also talked with a person who "runs long creek" and that person also said the ramps will remain open.
  17. Don't feel bad I have no idea either.
  18. Yeah I knew what you were getting at. I thought by being totally blunt about it; maybe someone would actually do it. I am not computer smart enough or I would. LOL
  19. Someone needs to make it say bass boat central instead of texas fishing forum. Post it on BBC and watch the hilarity ensue. LOL
  20. that was great!
  21. If I remember right; isn't long creek where that big bass tourny is supposed to weigh in? Isn't bass pro a big sponsor of it? If so I am sure bass pro will figure out a way to keep it open.
  22. If you watch the video it is not the double san diego. He only wraps 3 times and does not pass the loop/tag between the lines. They are close to being tied the same but not quite exactly the same.
  23. Figured that but thought it wouldn't hurt to at least ask.
  24. Balsabee; any chance in hell you would cut loose with a coupe of the firetiger ones? Lost my last one and the smallies up here like it!
  25. Here is the link I thought I was posting earlier. Shaw Grigsby says it is the best fluorocarbon knot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I905PXIYww
