  1. I've eaten a lot of bass over the years. I rarely do anymore. Last time was a float trip campout fish fry. The little ones eat just fine.
  2. No blood showing. Guessing that net.
  3. Heck of a way to get started!

    What's Cooking?

Spaghetti Red. With third day chili. I was not in chili mode at all until today. But now it sounds great.
  5. You don't want a 36. 42 or 48 will be much more stable. And stable = comfort and confidence.
  6. If there is any way to get you to think seriously about a 14 or even better 16 foot boat you will be much happier in the long run. And for a motor, 9.9 two stroke. Cry once.

    Cast iron

Interesting reading. Thanks. I googled Wagner cast iron cookware. I had no idea that stuff was even kind of valuable. It's been so long I don't even remember how I came by it.

    Cast iron

I think the ticket on cast iron is smooth interior and keeping them oiled. Mine all are machined. Shot blasting one that has the rough interior would be helpful I think. These are all Wagner Ware and live in the house. There's another one in the same style the next size up that's out in the shop. There are a couple of cast iron dutch ovens out there too.

    Cast iron

I'm a total philistine. I scrub my dirty cast iron cookware with dawn and a scotchbrite, dry them and coat with some vegetable oil and put them away. They seem to cook things just fine.
  10. I need to get the French press back out. They really do make excellent coffee. It will be convenient when less than a full pot is wanted, even more so now, given the kettle that Lovey bought. That thing is FAST.
  11. I'll have to find some. Best bourbon I've had lately is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It's good stuff.
  12. I have a love hate relationship with nanofil. Love the castability and how long it lasts. Hate tying leaders on - I use the Alberto and it works good - but I still get hung up and break off a few times and wind up having to retie. Also seem to have more trouble with the nanofil looping on the spool and creating a mess.
  13. That's a new one on me.
  14. Takes no extra time for me. It's grinding while I'm rinsing and filling the pot and getting the basket ready. We drink a lot of coffee. And lately, more tea too.
  15. The coffee is a lot more important than what pot it's brewed in. We buy whole bean coffee at Lucky's Market for $7.99/lb. Grind medium fine for each pot with a Capresso burr grinder. Burr grinders give a consistent size to the grounds, unlike those mini blenders. Tend to buy more Colombian than others, but get some Jamaica Blue Mountain and Kona too for a little change in flavor.
  16. I'm not going to say what I think is the # 1 killer of bass. Or rather who.
  17. Carp that was 18" with the head on, gutted, scaled, scored and deep fried whole golden is nothing to sneeze at.
  18. When I was very young, we lived in Craig. It was a big thing for folks to go to Camp Rulo which was a bar and restaurant just across the bridge in Nebraska. They served steaks and fish out of the Missouri. Catfish, Carp, Buffalo etc. One time I got a carp bone stuck in my throat and went to my mother who was at the bar with friends. She just looked down at me and said "eat a piece of bread" and went back to her conversation. It worked too, cause I'm not choked to death.
  19. Wow.

    What's Cooking?

I might want one. Want to get rid of yours in a couple of weeks? Never mind. I don't want a pellet grill or electric smoker either. Let's remain primitive bro. As in Cro-Magnon. Cause you're a lot smarter than every Neanderthal I ever met.

    Tabby, Persian or Siamese?
  22. I agree. They are the best of the best if you ask me. https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/oyster-mushroom
  23. I think my 2019 fishing goal is well in hand. My 2020 fishing goal is to fish in 2021. I wouldn't mind going a little more often either, but that's more an objective than a goal.
  24. Couple of wild things I've seen tornados do: Joplin back in the mid '70's had one go right down Rangeline Road. On the west side of town there was an abandoned drive in. Only thing left before the tornado was the steel pipes the speakers used to be mounted to. No speakers. After the tornado, they were blown over to about a 45 degree angle. That's windy. Webb City in the mid '80's. I saw a two story house moved a good eight feet off the foundation. Not one broken window and the roof looked just fine. Too weird.
  25. I miss you at jigfest. Still working on a Gioia's visitation.
