I don't eat medium rare burgers anymore either. I was so sick from a bad one that my liver enzymes were so elevated my doctor had me tested for hepatitis! It was clostridium.

Fine. Now give it up. Where did you put in. Where did you take out. What bait did you use. How did you fish it. What pound test line did you use. What kind of rod did you use. What time did you catch the fish. How come you kept them instead of letting them swim wild and free. What color is your canoe. How long is it. What kind of truck do you drive. Does your wife really love you. Whats your birthday. I want to KNOW some details here!

Ned or Fred? What does it matter when it's in a beautiful brown river fish?

Using OAF to improve your fishing skills (General Discussion)
Terrierman replied to Sac River Jim's topic in Stockton Lake
It's a great site. Educational and fun. Promotes fellowship, good sportsmanship and good conservation ethics. Works for me. -
I have room for the dog and the chickens. There's a shed for you and the family. It's not very big so you might plan on bunk beds.

MO state record paddlefish caught in Table Rock
Terrierman replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
Biggest rod and reel fish ever caught in Missouri. That thing is stupid big. Looks like he had both hooks in it. Good thing too going by the size. -
MO state record paddlefish caught in Table Rock
Terrierman replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
Its a big thing for paddlefish and also suckers. Neither is likely to be caught any other way. Not frowned on. -
Good job Chief.

So. You want to live in Springfield. No, wait you want to be my neighbor.

I caught 13 smallmouth on 15 casts out of the same eddy last year fishing ned made up with a 1/8 oz ball head with trimmed mono brush guard. It was just one of those amazing days. They work just fine in current.

I guess I'm either quicker on the draw or more likely luckier than some of you guys. Caught a lot of river fish on that stupid little thing and one of the things I like about it is how I tend to hook fish in the roof of the mouth with it. Not always of course but more often than not. Of course now that I said something about it 9 out of 10 will now swallow that thing all the way down to their guzzler.

Fished the White Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday flow started out at 4000 CFS at about 7:00 at the Dam, then went to 10,000 for an hour or so and then back to 700. I got to Rim Shoals a little before noon and was concerned that I would no more get on the water than get blown out with the high water so I went down to Buffalo City. Water was too murky for my tastes due to Crooked Creek influence but still caught a few. In about an hour the big water arrived and fishing was nothing but a huge pain due to didymo and green algae. If you got three twitches on a jig before it was fouled you were doing good. I did catch a few fish on a hard bait. Nothing remarkable. Called it a day about 5:00 and headed in for dinner. Saturday was much better. Minimum flow and good clear water at Rim Shoals. Ham met me at 9:00 and we went upstream from the ramp and made a few drifts in the shoal that is at the top of the catch and release area. As usual Ham caught one on the first cast. We were both doing pretty good there. I wanted to go to a little place I know that is upstream from there and since we were in my boat, that's what we did. It's a nice deep bank run with a few big rocks that then runs out onto a flat with grass on one side and gravel on the other. We pretty well fished that area the remainder of the day. Numbers and size were both good. Ham and I both caught a lot of rainbows and a few browns, the biggest brown was 19 1/2" with a couple about 16" or so if memory serves. This fish was number 80 for Ham. Measured 21 1/2". His biggest White River Rainbow to date. With the minimum flow we were fishing 1/32 oz zig jigs. Olive and Ginger and straight Ginger were working best for us. It was a very nice day and there were a lot of other boats on the water. Parking lot was full. The day got long and the sun got low so we headed on back down river to fish the C&R shoal one more time. We had a few more there and called it a day. As some of you know, Ham counts fish as he releases them. I think it was somewhere around 105 or so when we finally quit. He outfishes me every single time. But I was doing OK so I'd estimate we probably brought 160 fish or so to hand on Saturday. That's to hand and then shaken off, not given the inadvertent early release. I don't care who you are or where you are fishing, that's a fun fun day. I always enjoy fishing with Ham - good company there. And Saturday was the usual. Sunday it rained a little in the morning. Still at minimum flow and same water conditions. I only went out for a couple of hours but the same things were working the same way in the same spots. That's just a flat out amazing river. Amazing.

First trip ever to table rock fishing out of Big Cedar lodge
Terrierman replied to kazoobass's topic in Table Rock Lake
Correct. -
I started to say that but it's more. We COULD handle it. With enough money. But that ain't happening in my lifetime or yours.

FYI Rim Shoals Resort offers water taxi to get wade fishermen to places they wouldn't otherwise be able to fish. Other places may as well, but for sure Rim Shoals does.

The single biggest water quality problem the U.S faces is too many people that want cheap sewer service and cheap food. Fix those two mindsets and I will fix the dead zone in the Gulf and 99% of the water quality problems upstream from there coast to coast. The article misses the big picture by about a mile.

It is. Don't get me started, I won't be able to shut up.

Welcome to the board! If you want to learn a little something, this is a good place to do it.

Just looked at the radar. Arkansas, nearly all of it is green with little yellow spots here and there. Looks like I am going to get my wish for a good spring rain. Man do we need some water!

Filling Station, Hwy 13 about a half block north of H. Only go there if you like honest to pete really good home cooked food and/or BBQ. Had lunch there for the first time today and will most assuredly be back. Family owned and operated. Small place. Excellent quality. If you have to have a beer with your BBQ you need to go someplace else though. I HAD to try the bread pudding. Some of the best I have ever had. Little pieces of apple in it really added. Great little place, unqualified recommendation to give it a try.

WTG Britt. Good job.

Not so much fixing a problem as looking for any edge you can find. I've fished Maxima for years and never felt handicapped at all. But I have to say that Ham got me to try Nanofil. I've fished the White River a few times with it and it really does let you cast further, especially with the light jigs that are the norm there. I've only fished it once or twice for smallmouth in creeks. The jury is still out there - I break off quite a bit and the leader is still a PITA for me to tie with my old eyes. Have yet to try Nano other than there. But I do think it has a place. Horses for courses I think is how it goes.

It's too hot and only getting hotter. Iowa and Kansas are also suffering declines no?
