  1. I'm just glad MU won. Second year in the SEC and playing for the championship will not hurt the recruiting. Featuring DGB against A&M was a good move for that. Give Pinkel some credit for what he thinks about down the road. GO M.U. Tigers!
  2. I fished Taneycomo today. Tried 2 lb P line flouroclear. That stuff is teeny tiny. Got bit just fine on everything I tried, jig under a float about 8ft deep, baby rainbow countdown rapala, gulp eggs. It looked like most everybody was catching. Guys in one boat that drifted by close were all using weighted san juan worms, they were fishing deeper than me, they said 12 to 14 foot leader. That's real hard to do with spinning gear though and I didn't have a fly rod with me.
  3. How did you go about doing that? I need to look at it, sounds intriguing.
  4. I fry in peanut oil too. It's the best. How about if I make a nice apple crisp to top it off with? And some good coffee.
  5. woolies with the ends cut on thumb and forefinger when its cold (really cold like below freezing and windy). when its not that cold, bare hands and a dry towel.
  6. If the weather is not absolutely brutal, I'm in for driving down Saturday morning and staying over.
  7. ^^ God I hope so. They were so much a part of what it used to be that was so incredible. Judy and Captain will live forever in the memory banks.
  8. No, it is not. Park Rangers can write a ticket or arrest you for just about anything from murder on down to using the wrong minnow. And yes those bands attract the wrong kind of people. Like me.
  9. I bet you don't see another person on the water. Have a great trip. You've got good weather for November to look forward to.
  10. I know for a fact it's sold.
  11. Will there be a place for me to sleep Saturday night if I decide to stay? Also I'll be bringing my new to me Shawnee. Got to get it wet before I wet the bed if you know what I mean.
  12. That's becoming a problem all over the Ozarks. A very disturbing trend if you ask me.
  13. Wild trout are much better than hatchery trout. But still not as good as crappie or bluegill or goggle eye or flathead. And don't even get me started on saltwater fish.
  14. I was going to say much the same thing, and a few more. They live in some of the most fun places to visit on the planet. They're pretty. They're catchable, but not too easy to make it boring. You can often see them bite, which is really cool. They're fun to catch (put up a decent fight). Gearheads love any excuse to have another set of gear. They're just plain fun. But they don't taste all that good compared to a lot of other fish.
  15. To clarify: It started a whole different approach to waterfowling and attracted a crowd that I honestly don't want to be around and that's just gotten worse over time.
  16. With three guys we used to put out that many in about that amount of time. I read your method and it makes sense. Picking them up, bagging them and getting the boat loaded and back to the ramp was another matter. I never hated putting out lots of decoys except at Fountain Grove in that wader sucking mud, expecially when it was about an inch from the top of the waders. LIKE that you put out a ton of decoys.
  17. Roboduck ruined a great sport.
  18. When you're shooting singles, take turns. Keep your stupid face down. If you can't call, don't.
  19. So many people over cook waterfowl. But your recipe doesn't and it sounds really good.
  20. You're welcome. USMC '70, '71 '72. "D" Company, 1st Bn, 9th Marines. Don't be fooled by the unit. I missed the hard part they went through.
  21. I'm interested. Muddy, I've got a 6 HP Johnson that would push your boat if needed. And the canoe. Last time I took a chance and went fishing with a bunch of strangers from OAF it was an absolute blast. Plus I learned a LOT.
  22. Nice day. Nice write up.
  23. Good advice. Pink and juicy in the middle, not roasted to a sickly gray.
