  1. It's nowhere as simple as figures on paper. The problem is still storing off peak generation to dampen demand curves v. generation capacity + T & D. That's not to say the problem cannot be solved, but it is far from simple. R & D is still needed and is happening.
  2. Infrastructure investment needed, going to MIC instead if you ask me.
  3. Solar has similar issues to wind relating to generation not corresponding well with demand. There's a lot of R&D going into energy storage systems. Some overlooked issues with nukes include mining impacts, waste storage, and decommissioning costs. There's just no easy button. Darn the luck.
  4. Nice. Love that rope swing shot.
  5. My problem with BPS is I want that statue that stands out in front at my house. Wouldn't mind having my ceiling decorated like theirs either.
  6. I want to see the link to fines being applied for bird strikes on power lines.
  7. Grab some smallish (1/8 oz, 3/16 oz, 1/4 oz) orange / chartreuse safety pin spinnerbaits with gold blades (colorado blades if you can find them) before you go. Trust me on this one.
  8. Looks like a job for little buddy to me.
  9. I'm pretty stuck on plain old green maxima 4 lb test for line. Rods I like 6' Light Fast action. Reels I'm running two Shimano Sahara 1000 size with good success, a 1000 size symetre that's probably ten + years old now and also one Daiwa Exceller that's a 1500 size. The Daiwa has 6 lb line on it. All of the above are on Berkeley Lightnin' Rods except the Symetre. It's on a 7' LF Wally Marshall rod I bought when he was still with Bass Pro. The exceller is on a ML Lightnin' Rod. I know, I'm an outdated old throwback. But I don't feel handicapped by my gear, which I guess is the bottom line.
  10. I started out on a zebco. Guess I should have had you as my grandpa! Have fun with him, he looks ready for it.
  11. For the money, I just don't see how you ever beat the Berkeley Lightnin' Rods. Not sure you can still get them with foam grips though.
  12. The river was about a foot to eighteen inches higher than normal and just enough color. Caught several smallmouth, nothing big. 1/8 oz orange/chart spinnerbaits, single gold colorado blade was what was working for me. I almost always try to imitate crawdads, and those are surely craw colors. Very nice day to be out and about.
  13. This is about right for me too. Plus I like to piddle around and cook lunch.
  14. Nice pics man, very nice.
  15. The Finley looks about like that right now. Anybody that wants to join me tomorrow is welcome.
  16. Amen Ham.
  17. A couple of us put in there and floated down to Hootentown about a month ago. When we were through with the float and swapping boats back up at Shelvin, some cat in a jet boat went right on by. There was plenty of water for a jet. The location of the new ramp is nice as now you have time to get situated before that first little riffle.
  18. Yeah, I guess. As always, very nice.
  19. Wow, those are some really nice fish. I guess last year didn't do in everything. Get me fired up. For another cold wet weekend. Thanks a lot.
  20. What would be wrong with a little trawling action? It's nearly to that point.
  21. You some kind of fraidy' cat about a little water or something?
  22. I hadn't dumped in probably 20 years either. Until this year. I was on the NFOTW all by my lonesome on 4/12/13 floating in my Mad River Legend 15. It was howling windy. I was fishing a run above an island, a huge gust of wind turned me sideways and between the wind trying to blow me upriver and the current trying to hurry me on downriver I was out in a flash. Lost a brand new never caught a fish on it yet St.Croix with a brand new never caught a fish on it pfleuger president, a box of stickbaits and two binders of plastics and jig heads. I was glad I had a dry bag with a change of clothes along with. Still haven't told Lovey. And don't plan to ever as far as that goes.
  23. It's because he knows he looks good in those shades.
