  1. Back to the subject of the thread. Can someone please explain the reluctance to wear masks? Protective of yourself and others. How did the mask become the political symbol it appears to be, at least in some circles. It's not a sign of weakness, oppression or fear. Why won't the state and federal leaders model a behavior that is protective of the public health? I honestly do not get it.
  2. Dude. You got my respect. Not trying to piss in your face. I'll just leave the rest of it alone.
  3. Faker. Why try to be what you're not? You're not my favorite guy on here. But you're no faker and I respect that. Fakers not so much.
  4. I want tomatoes. Heck with energy.
  5. BS. Plain and simple. You're younger than I am. You're just another faker who wishes they had the stuff to be a part of my beloved Corps. But didn't. Prove me wrong. Where/when did you do boot camp? Surely you remember your boot camp platoon number? Where/when did you go to "engineer" school? What was your MOS number? What did you actually do when you were with the 10th Marines? What Company What Battallion and were you with them at 29 Palms or Pendleton? Give it.
  6. They are tough little bastages too and very reluctant to give up their skin. They have to be run through a pressure cooker.
  7. Engineer? What MOS? 10th what? Don't claim what you didn't earn. And if you did, put it up or shut it up.
  8. What did you do in USMC? What was your MOS?
  9. There are blooms today on both the Cherokee Purples and also both of the heirloom Big Beef. With all the rain, who knows what the future holds. I did put down some crushed oyster shells so there will not be a shortage of either calcium or magnesium. Given the wet cool weather, things out there look surprisingly good. I do need my little Stihl M66 cultivator back from the engine shop though. Or weeds will get too good of a start. Used the garden weasel yesterday on the hilled stuff. Too hard and too much for that thing around the tomatoes though.
  10. I have a bloom on one of my Cherokee Purple tomato plants. 😎 We put out a bunch of flowers on Saturday. Hauled everything portable into the house and covered everything else. The buckets tarp and blankets kept everything safe. Glad I put them under cover both nights - we had heavy frost both times. The only damage was a couple of leaves on parsley that must have been in contact with the tarp when it got good and cold. Success! Tomatoes don't like cold feet. Ready to see some 80's and sunshine. They will really take off then. They're about a foot tall or maybe a little more and ready to get with the program.
  11. A pescador is fairly svelte compared to a lot of what's out there these days. I've got one myself and can tell you it is fine on the Ozarks streams.
  12. Those days are over for me now, but I had both when I did that.
  13. Guessing you wouldn't want to put in about 4:00 AM on a windy December morning then? Even to shoot a few ducks?
  14. Was that fairly close to St. Louis?
  15. When I lived in Jefferson City we fished the Missouri a lot targeting flatheads and secondary, blues. I used throw lines - 30' or so main line, 5 x 18" drops with big circle hooks. Window weight on the river end. Piece of inner tube at the top of the main line really helps. My favorite bait was live carp that we bought at Taberville. Had a great homemade bait tank. Kept stuff alive very well. We would try to go during the dark of the moon in June. Caught a lot of nice ones. Carried and used a really big net and a 4' gaff. Really big ones (30+) the gaff is the deal. Quick and very certain. The Missouri is a very underutilized resource. Duck hunted it a lot too. Had the right boat for it 18'6" x 54 semi-vee with 50 HP Yamaha with tilt and trim. Nice post, brought back some good memories that involve a dear friend who I lost a few years ago to cancer. Thanks!
  16. College doesn't make you smarter, but it can make you better educated and able to understand things that absent education you wouldn't have a clue. Organic chemistry for an example. Microbiology for another, examples are TNTC.
  17. I don't care for the crude and crass stuff a bit. But that's not my real problem with him. It's not even how self centered he obviously is. There are much more substantive problems that we've discussed and just don't see the same way. And my real point is I'd rather see things with my own eyes and make up my own mind. Not hear what Wolf Blitzer or Tucker Carlson think is the deal. I watched the Kavanaugh hearings live. I watched the impeachment testimony live. I watched the impeachment hearings in the Senate live. I've watched nearly every corona virus task force report live. I've watched nearly every DJT press conference live. I'm watching the Senate hearings live right now. No MSM filters. That's how to do it if you have the time. Not get some boiled down 2 minute take on the 6 o'clock news.
  18. I watched dear leader live today. I'll take my takes personally thanks.
  19. Can you imagine how fast those kids will be able to run that maze after a week or two?
  20. You better let us all know right after the wife!
  21. Maybe put up a quickie electric fence with the step in posts, one line low, one line high and then make them make you take it down? Heck, claim it's a maze game for the neighbor kids. Hey! Good idea Rick! That'll learn the little bastages anyway.... Most POA bark is worse than the bite. Who's going to see it and be offended other than the POA goodie two shoes anyway?
  22. You won't drive and let potential buyer do a ride along?
  23. Wood and ashes are enough of a mess in the house that I gave up heating with wood long ago. Now I have ground source heat pump. It's the best there is if you ask me.
  24. I was able to deter deer with electric fence.
