  1. As opposed to Italy. And the U.S.
  2. Boeing might not even survive. Sad state of affairs for sure.
  3. Won't be a problem according to this site. https://northspore.com/pages/spawn-faq-1
  4. People do like being in control of others.
  5. See. Right again.
  6. That son of yours can't do anything right, even the wood he cuts won't burn. 😡 He needs to get a wife who can do stuff for you instead of him messing everything up. Maybe you can work on that a while for him.
  7. Thanks. I've got the two logs we made Sunday in what should be a good spot. East side of cellar entrance, south of a concrete planter that's a repurposed freeze proof concrete cattle watering tank so well protected from the wind which was stressed in class and also shaded from late morning on. The cellar sump pump discharges just upgrade of the logs. It's always a wet spot except in really dry summertime. They should stay well watered there and if supplemental water is needed, the garden hose is always available. I'm going to give a couple of different oyster types a whirl. Know nothing about lion's mane - but inoculation products - both sawdust and dowels are available for them too. Dowels seem so much easier, can't see any reason not to use them.
  8. We got home with two logs that are both shitake inoculated. This time next year I'll have ten logs and a variety of mushroom types.
  9. Didn't hear anything about actual seeded logs but did hear and see lots of other indoor grow methods and kits. The guy presenting the class had a big colony of oyster mushrooms he grew indoors on a roll of toilet paper! Had other examples for the class too. It was fascinating to me. I love mushrooms and I'm the least successful person ever when it comes to finding them in the wild.
  10. According to the class I attended, logs are best two weeks to three months after being cut in late fall through early spring. It's actually getting late now to cut them for this year. If they're very old they are more likely to have already been colonized by a species you don't want. And split logs are no good at all. The bark is very important. Helps to retain moisture which is essential for successful cultivation.
  11. Oyster shelf mushrooms are great. I'm going to grow them too.
  12. That's really the only thing that matters.
  13. You would. More for you that way, right?
  14. Good luck you numskull!!!

    What's Cooking?

Actually I'm making texas toast with mashed avocado and leftover rotisserie chicken sandwich. Poor folks and all that. Plus a dram of Jameson. Glad to be getting well again and more or less back to what I refer to as normal.

    What's Cooking?

I've given up cooking and eating until this pandemic is over.

    Justifiable pride, totally justified.
  18. I will still shake hands with people I meet - did so a bunch of times today at a luncheon. Once the meet and greet was over - off to the restroom to wash my hands before even thinking about eating or drinking anything. Anytime there is contact with a shopping cart those wipes get used on the handles and my hands. Most places make it easy to watch out for that vector. I'm pretty aware of and avoid people who are coughing or sneezing or wiping their nose/face in public. It's about the best I can do short of using uber eats and screening the driver and restaurant staff.
  19. Everything now is "the big one". Thanks Fred Sanford for helping me to be skeptical.
  20. What's really good great is when Al Roker tells us how many millions of people are at risk of getting snowed on or rained on or blown about in the wind.
  21. Or shakes your hand at a meeting - even worse.
  22. I quit the best job I ever had at the time - Union Electric Environmental Services Department - because I just could not hack it in St. Louis / St. Charles any longer. Took a while, but in the end it worked out pretty good for me. I love where we live now. Rural five acre place in Christian County - ten minutes to Ozark and fifteen minutes to SGF.
  23. No joke. Here's hoping for a quick recovery.
