    Start carrying some of those hot handz hand warmers in your pockets. They last 12 to 18 hours and the difference they make in hand comfort is incredible. I think they are something like $5.00 for a 12 pack at Walmart. Well worth it.

    You know I'm an orthopedic train wreck, and a connoisseur of pain and its various remedies. Cortisone is a miracle drug for inflammation. Just not too often. Can you find any strengthening exercises for the condition? That is your long term solution.

    We're cat people too. Agate and Willow, littermates adopted from the shelter a little over a year ago. They're a blast.

    Have I mentioned that I also hunt groundhogs with terriers? For real, no joke with shovels and everything. Dogs wearing high dollar locater collars so we can tell exactly where they are in the earth. Deepest hole I ever dug? A measured 10'6". With help.

    Barn hunting with terriers is the most fun I've ever had standing up.

    I've been using the gel and can still get parts stuck to things they don't need to be stuck to.

    Raccons are the cutest most destructive creatures God ever saw fit to put on this earth. If you go to hell for killing coons, there is a special warm spot reserved for me and a bunch of my terrier hunting buddies. We would barn hunt in Iowa with terriers and in years past, it was nothing really exceptional to get 100 or more in a day. It's different now with a lot fewer small operations that actually put hay in barns and 20 is a good day. But that's still a lot of coon blood.

    Dave is going to send me a few. I've been fishing regular old round head jigs with mono guards that I trim the mono on and have not been what you would call suffering from the handicap. I've also used and really like those stupid expensive gamakatsu wacky rig jig heads. But they're probably overkill. Who am I to always have to swim upstream? Nobody that's who. So I am going to give the real deal a whirl. With Dave's recommended Mustad hooks. It's going to be interesting to finally start doing something right.

    There are plenty of places that do carry Lew's. I'm fond of their spinning reels.

    I don't think you're going to be able to trade in for anything Lew's at BassPro. Ever.

    I bought my grandsons 6'6" Temple Fork rods light fast action. Put Lew's speed spins (size 10) on them. Nice combination. Got the chance to catch a few trout on one. It's a great rod especially for the money. Really like TFO lifetime no fault warranty too.

    If I had to follow anybody's lead except my own, it would drive me totally bananas. Guessing pretty much the same for everyone on here.

    Add in a couple of bad knees and 20 years and now you know why it didn't take me long to change that up. Now I think it's a better set up than a Supreme without mats. Dry feet, dry gear, non-slip. Works for me.

    Feedback: You have a reputation as a pretty darn good fisherman. So you posting up some nice fish wasn't a huge surprise. Not one to chase other's success as a general rule, like to learn from others face to face. I fished Taneycomo Saturday because it was a nice day and I wanted a sure thing to be able to grill some fish Sunday. So no, you did not influence me at all other than to complement you on what looked to be a heck of a nice stringer. Even if the grass is a little too green.

    My boat is a Shawnee commissary boat with ribs running the length of the boat in the floor. I cut 3/4" plywood to make a false floor, painted it with non-skid porch paint from Lowe's, then screwed it to the ribs. HUGE improvement as anyone who's been in that boat with me will testify. But for that to work (have a place for a little water to go) the ribs seem central. For a flat bottom boat with integral floor like Supreme, some kind of semi-open mat seems optimal.

    Basic smoked trout. Lemons, seasoned salt, a little garlic. real butter. About an hour on the egg at 300 or thereabouts. Turn once about half way through. Real simple, real good.

    Less can indeed be more. I learned that from Thoreau, when I was maybe sixteen and did not know what more even looked like.

    It was windy Saturday too. But still a very welcome January warm spell. I'm interested in hearing what you think about the new rod.
