    I think you ought to use half the money you make at your two summer jobs, get a 16' jon and a 9.9, haul it around in the back of your pickup that you saved up for and bought yourself and fish every chance you get. But don't go partners with anybody on anything ever.

    I'm a big guy too and fish with other big guys. 15 HP Yamaha pushes the 48" Shawnee fine. I would get the 20.

    Three year trailer = $22.50 + 3.50 for using a contract license office = $26.00 Three year boat = $55.00 + 3.50 for using a contract license office = $58.50 One time outboard motor decal = $2.00 +3.50 for using a contract license office = $5.50 You can go to a State run DMV office and avoid the contract license office fees. Pretty sure there is one in Springfield but it wasn't worth the drive to me. Get a waterproof box and keep the paperwork in your boat. If you ever get stopped, they will want to see it.

    I stopped for one of those voluntary inspection things a few years back up on Mark Twain Lake. Had everything in the boat they were looking for - life jackets, throwable cushion, fire extinguisher, airhorn, registration paperwork, everything. I felt really smart for a while. Until I actually got a warning ticket because my letters were too close together, had to take all the letters off, get new ones and install with the 2" spacing between the three groups of letters. Take Bill's advice on this one.

    It was that way last week too. Didn't try the creeks. Did OK but not great near the dam when they were running water, bet for us was along the bluff below Point Lookout. 1/8 oz olive/ginger Zig Jig got the most fish, white was second, brown/orange was a bust. When there's nothing running, I had the boys fish below the Fall Creek boat dock with gulp eggs. Plenty of action that way.

    This would not even be an issue had the NPS managed the Riverways according to their own rules instead of letting things get out of hand like they have.

    There is at least one really big otter in the pool above Green Bridge. They're one of those creatures that I have mixed emotions about. Pure selfishness on my part I guess. I should work on that.

    One of the little things I like about the zig jigs is the eye is open when you pick it up, no poking paint out of a tiny little hole. The paint quality is above average. And they catch trout. Chief, they've got a lot of really good color combinations too. They're just really good jigs is the bottom line. And for a dollar each, that's pretty fair in my book.

    I like to stop early and stay late. I've killed enough fish to last most people a lifetime, now for me it's the quality river experience. Most often alone, especially lately since my best human and dog friends died. But with buddies is fine too. I just love my time out there. And I do mean love.

    It's effective if that's your only criteria. Hardly fits the description of sporting or fair chase though. It's the fishing equivalent of shooting turkeys or deer over bait if you ask me. The only difference is shuffling is not illegal.
