  1. Ya puede leer esto ¿cuál es tu carne?
  2. You might try one of the privately owned trout farms in Missouri; http://www.missouritrout.com/privateparks.html The general scenario is you pay by the lb for what you catch, and there's no catch & release. It strikes many pure anglers as cheating, but if you want to have a guaranteed catch you can keep, there's no better way. It often costs less than getting skunked can too.
  3. Very well stated! I too enjoy the satisfaction of achieving the objective. Pursuing a sport without an objective seems pointless to me, but lots of folks do it, so who am I to complain. So break it down. To excel at the sport, you merely need to enjoy doing it for the pure pleasure of the act. To excel at the objective you should become a commercial fisherman to maximize your investment/return. To do both requires something in between. For many of us, that means taking the skunk as entertaining and educational, something to be rectified the next time we get out.
  4. jimithyashford may be the worst wade-fisher in the history of man, but his success at trolling is exemplary!

How that happens is you don't have the nads to lock the drag down for fear the line will part, and you think after 100 yards he's surely about done anyway... ...but he isn't.
  6. Thanks for the tip, I may have to give that a try. The keeper females on the Elk have shown little interest in my Magnum Creek Chub lately.
  7. That's why they put lanyards on kill switches.
  8. We need "bank bound" tags and reserved spaces for the shorebound angler, kinda like handicapped tags and spaces for cars. Oh wait... that doesn't always work for cars either... Never mind.
  9. I don't know enough about EFIs to discuss it fairly, but the 'killed' voltage would depend on the resistance (or impedance if it's a pulsed signal) of the load (injector?). Ohms law stuff. Ha! I actually think about that kinda stuff while waiting for a fish to bite. Maybe my ex was right...
  10. Thanks for the explanation Wrench. Of course he claimed the new ECM fixed it. :-) I've got an HVAC tech that likes to replace boards when he can't find the real problem. He has a sizable stash of used boards in his truck, and no explanation why he won't throw them away... On the other hand, while a shorted cap won't charge or discharge, it will pass the input voltage, as a shorted cap is essentially a piece of wire. No idea what that means for injectors though.
  11. Gasoline expands at a rate of 0.058%/degree F, so a tankfull on a 100 degree day that was filled from a ~60 degree underground tank willl increase in volume by 2.32% . The actual pressure developed in a closed (unvented) tank depends entirely on how full it is. A quater tank of gas has lots of vapor space which can be compressed, resulting in relatively low developed pressure. A completely full tank with little or no vapor space to compress is another story, and that seemingly small 2% increase in volume won't be denied. Whether deforming the tank, expanding the hoses, or pushing past the spring tension at the terminal end, it will find somewhere to go. When I ran the shop for a Honda outboard dealer at the turn of the century, "making oil" was a fairly common problem, but as Wrench noted, those were all carbed engines. I earned a little bonus from the pontoon mfr we repped when I discovered a serial string of boats that had unvented fill stations installed by mistake (they looked exactly like the vented ones). These boats that had 2 strokes merely dribbled a little fuel out the exhaust, the 4 strokes "made oil". I have no experience with fuelies, but logic dictates that the spring tension on the internal check valve(s) has to be low enough for a diaphragm type pump to easily overcome. Having never had an FI body apart though, there may be a "dead stop" there I'm not aware of. Mostly, like you, I'm hoping for an easy fix, and a fuel vent fits that bill nicely. :-)
  12. It seems much of the renewed momentum of this thing can be attributed to a contracted report that says the western states can turn a fair profit where the BLM incurs a loss; http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=6&ved=0CEgQFjAF&url=http%3A%2F%2Fleg.mt.gov%2Fcontent%2FCommittees%2FInterim%2F2013-2014%2FEQC%2FCommittee-Topics%2Fsj-15%2Fmatrix-references%2Fstate-vs-fed-land-management-costs-baughman-presentation.pdf&ei=vWn6U-D5GoOg8QHLiYCwBw&usg=AFQjCNFiRzfNnv4Ywt9JPhR_OzTi0SGE5g&bvm=bv.73612305,d.b2U While prepared for Nevada, both Idaho and Utah are pointing and jumping up and down as well. Surprisingly, the report was prepared by a renewable energy consulting firm... A brief review had me scratching my head when it said (in so many words) that costs for fire prevention could be greatly reduced if you didn't have any trees... hmmm... We fishers and hunters were taken into account... as an economic indicator.
  13. On the other hand, I can't say I've ever heard anyone from the Ozarks (with a MO/AR average of ~6% fed lands) say "Gee, I wish we had more federal land". We have more pressing complaints. Like jet skiers, wakeboarders, trotliners, ATVers, meat-eaters and cows. And anyone that doesn't Like us on Facebook.
  14. It's hard to miss the correlation between this; and this; This discussion has lasted ~150 years. An interesting summary is at; http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=11&ved=0CGEQFjAK&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.law.umaryland.edu%2Fmarshall%2Fcrsreports%2Fcrsdocuments%2FRL34267_12032007.pdf&ei=_VX5U-anN4Hq8QHY9YCQBw&usg=AFQjCNGiICeHAkg667dPP9hS-Lo5-bX0Lg&bvm=bv.73612305,d.b2U As for me, I think we ought to homestead it. Howdy neighbor... :-)
  15. An unvented fuel tank can cause that.
  16. Now that... ...is a ! Awesome!
  17. The red spot and tubercles are only on males. "Males commonly have tubercles (bony projections) on top of head and a prominent red spot behind the eye."
  18. Redhorse sucker Horneyhead Chub
  19. Good on you! Osage is a real sleeper, one of the few streams in the Ozarks with a state hatchery in the headwaters. It's not so much about escapees (though it happens) as it is about the nutrient load that makes for productive growth downstream. Locals there used to be pretty hush. but they're mostly gone now and the new crop doesn't seem to know or care beyond noticing the "live water" box was checked on their MLS. Been at least 15 years since I fished it, looking forward to your experiences.

    Mink

The image of QB lashing out at a lil' bitty ole mink is worthy of TV. The "Like a good neighbor..." jingle would beam him safely into some dufus' insurance office. 20 years ago the mink on upper TR at night were populous and widespread. Their antics on the bank distacted me from more than a few bites. Not so much any more. To see them in the daytime suggests they're having a harder time now.
  21. ...and you can find the strippers at the French Quarter and Centerfold.
  22. He was right. Following directions may put you on fish, but it doesn't make you a fisherman.
  23. Did you eat the cheek meat? i=)
