  1. Personally I would think the deciding factor would be the roads in the area. If they are far from the river then their use would benefit you.
  2. Oneshot you might check the dam out before you head west, that way you would have some idea what was going on. I used to fish out of Fairfield often, but that was when it was on the bank of the Pomme. We used to catch a lot of fish out of the Pomme and that part of the Osage.
  3. Jigs can be hard to beat, especially if you dress your own.
  4. Its always been hit or miss for me, but if you hit it right its worth driving a long way. Are you south or north on the lake?
  5. I think the bottom line is it isolates your source of funds. No one, except Pay Pal, gets your account numbers.
  6. If you're near Tenkiller than you're not too far from Taney.
  7. The difference in table Rock is hard to fathom unless you fished it in the 70's. Up until the 90's 6 and 8 lb line were required, now its not all that much clearer than parts of Truman.
  8. KC is a BBQ town and its hard to answer how good one is. Bryants is different, not just in atmosphere, but in BBQ. Any of the older ones is worth a visit, Gates, Rosedale or Bryants and decide for yourself.
  9. I was reading today that they have figured out how to make meth in 2 liter pop bottles. They don't cook it, but shake it.
  10. I doubt they could get over 3 dams, even if they were mobile. They can be a disaster for fishermen because their shells are very sharp. The only way to consistently avoid cut lines is by using heavier lines, not recommended in the clear water they create or changing habits. They are still on the move in the smaller lakes in the US and I don't think there are any facts pointing to what the end results will be. While I agree everyone should take precautions to not spread them, many won't and its probably inevitable that they will spread through out the area.
  11. I've been leaning more toward X raps than Pointers the last couple of years. I believe though that its more a product of colors than anything else. I think the X Raps have a couple of colors that work well in the Ozarks because of the bait fish. I put feathers on my Pointers and Husky's because I think they enhance them more often then not. You either have them or you don't, you must choose, and I like to have that action when the bait is sitting.
  12. I've always thought the state should have some basic regulations addressing boating experience, first aid/CPR and insurance. I think they owe that much to the public.
  13. Anyone use Frog Toggs?
  14. Its defiantly worth fishing.
  15. It was named after the river. The original pronouncation, or the one I always heard locally was Pomme Da "Tar". I believe the proper one is Pomme De "Tear"
  16. I agree with wrench. The best thing that could happen on the Niangua would be to reduce the number of canoes allowed. The DNR could lead the way by going out of business themselves.
  17. Thanks guys, I thought with the rain they might be running some water.
  18. They were on top, across the lake, a week ago. It was a very early bite, can't say if its still alive, but the weather hasn't been hotter.
  19. I think the guide input is great and offers plenty of information for those who fish the Rock consistanly. Others should take advantage of the guides personal help and enjoy the lake also.
  20. You would likely find that one without could be rigged for you, rather than for someone who fishes elsewhere. The biggest downfall in my opinion to rigging your own is impatience. If you would fish out of it a half dozen times before you develop your own plan, I think you would be happy you did it yourself. I got in a hurry on one of mine and I have a rod holder I've used once.
  21. Hmmm. Oneshot I don't think you cooked them long enough. The bones, no matter the size, should have gone to crumble stage. If you want to step it up, throw the chunks on the smoker for about 30 minutes and the can them immediately.
  22. I know they like yellow, so I would think a yellow egg might be good. Small craws are in their diat and many use larger SJW's. They're a handful, fresh water bone's. I seldom fly fish for them, but if I had a good sight fishing area I would. They can be wary, so fish accordingly and try to lay it in front of them.
  23. Big red the casting is something that comes with experience. As to positioning, many including myself carry a 2' paddle which can be used with one hand to make corrections. I'm small in stature but I have no problem loading mine. I use a cart to get it to my SUV and I have an extension that slides out of my rack, I then only need to lift one end, set it on the extension and then lift the other end.
  24. Any fished it lately and have a report?
  25. I would Ollie, but I'm afraid when you came to get it my grandson would bite you, and he hasn't had all his shots.
