  1. I think they answered your question Mic, but I might add that gravel mining and dredging aren't one and the same.

Huh? We're talking Miles and Gundy as the coaches.
  3. I think Daniels is in a good place. He won't hurt them much, if any, if he comes in, but he won't replace Smith 50/50.
  4. It should be loaded with cover for fish and spawning for a few years now.
  5. Yes. CX is smaller than most and with it's flouro coating it has good abrasion resistance. I do have to ask though, what separates the Zig jig from the decades old marabou jigs popular in the trout parks?
  6. By all means start ahead. I do believe if you aren't experienced you will have some questions about the casting and someone with experience observing you will get you the best answers.
  7. I would put new line on the best reel, you can always move it to the rod you settle on. With the older rods I think a double taper works better and I'm sure you will find yourself roll casting, something a double taper excels at. Justin should be able to help you if he isn't too busy and that will be more helpful than what can be said here.
  8. Daniels height comes back to haunt him too often. He had a tendency to throw high at times in college and he still does in the pros. I always assumed he had trouble sometimes judging distance and compensated by aiming a little high? It took Breese going to NO to really shine. I'm always a little Leary of a back up becoming a star though. On the other hand a good back up of Daniels quality can be invaluable if you want to go to the big games.
  9. Give me a couple more quarters.
  10. Interesting. So you just floated the conservation access?

Odds and ends Well for me it's too early to predict much. over the decades I've thought at times I saw a trend only to find out some team stunk and that was why another team wasn't as good as they looked. The SEC hasn't always been a powerhouse, but with more and more teams added it gives them more chances at the top rankings. I think a couple of things have driven A&M. One is recruiting, something they had trouble with against TX and OU, then along comes TCU, Baylor, and Tech to tighten it up more. Offering a chance to play in the SEC can't hurt them. Don't forget, they won the Big 12 only once, so they couldn't feel like they were too good for the B-12. It will be interesting to see how dropping the MVC games will pan out. A lot of teams over the years have ironed out their wrinkles in safe games, but that might end. I love the ND/USC game, because I know one is guaranteed to lose. In my opinion in the end the top ranked teams will all have balance between running and passing, spread the defense. Over the many years I've been a fan I learned that season after season it generally comes down to the coach. If he can convince some kid that he should come to the school despite the position well filled for the next few years he will win and win season after season. Most kids want to be at a winning school and the more wins the more 4 and 5 star recruits. That is what can hurt the SEC eventually. Alabama, SC and GA force the other schools to talk fast right now. It's the same with the B-12. schools have to convince their recruits they can beat OU and TX. Gundy did and now he and OSU are up there with them. There's more to the coach then being a field general.

I would probably agree with that, except for 2,3,and 4. maybe. I'm not sure there is a noticeable difference in them at this point. I lost some of my enthusiasm for Missouri during the Dan Devine era. He had first shot at all of Missouri football players, but the best ones left and he could never vie for the top spot. It took them 47 years to get from 5th to 4th nationally. So in spite of being a native, I leaned towards OU, because of other links.
  13. Old Plug the silenced rifle is a TV/movie myth. You can't muffle the crack of a rifle bullet. If a sniper was to appear on a weekend on LOZ it would probably make it safer, scare the drunks off.
  14. Nice.

OU fan and I'm unsure. WV is rebuilt and it's hard to tell just how good they are. With a redshirt freshman it's always hard to know when he will hit the stride he's shown in practice. The running game is solid and I hope they go back to the running games of the past. The defense didn't look good last year after teams had a chance to give it a hard look. Last year is the first year Mike Stoops had the defense all to himself, so we'll see.
  16. I also agree. They beat down the banks and cause lots of damage when the rivers flood. they're worse than jetboats.
  17. I hate to say it, but I was a little disappointed. The Jaguars are no Bronchos, or even Raiders it appears and the Chiefs never put together a long drive for a TD. They looked good, but then again they never put together a long string. It's always hard to judge in the first game, especially when you have a lot of players trying to mesh into a solid unit.
  18. I use a cheap, Berkley, lipper when I fish trebles in my solos. I do it because I worry about having a hook in my hand and having to control the craft at the same time.
  19. That time of the year it will be shallow from Moon Valley to the spring. You might want to consider either Moon V or Ft Niangua to Mountain Fork. You don't want to leave a vehicle at Prosperine and MF is private and right next door. I definitely would camp below the spring. You'll do much better in finding a good bar with fishing below.
  20. Actually Gramps it really isn't much of a job to strip out the thwarts and seats. It seems that every solo on the market needs the seat moved anyway. I think if you're going to put a TM on one a 14'-15' converted to a solo might be more stable and suitable to power.
  21. That ain't likely to happen Wrench. Drill a hole, push nozzle through hole, pull trigger until you see foam creeping out, plug hole and go to next boat. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Njarder I wouldn't worry too much about modern carpet, it will hold it's color and look longer than all the plastic. There's nothing better than 303 ,IMO, for that. It isn't as cheap as many others, but than it doesn't give you cheap results either.
  22. Well that's a lesson for all of us. I got smart about 5 years ago and bought a cheap lipper because I kept noticing that when using trebles and trying to lip bass in my yak things got dicey at times. I decided that I really didn't need to be in flowing water with a bass and my hand fighting over possession of a treble.
  23. I would think that if they are growing them to keep a pest under control it would be in their interest kick the bigger ones out and replace them with more small fish. I don't thing you could put a length on them in the parks, too many who don't pay attention to that. They could easily survive the winter season though and that is what I think would the best plan. Thin them out the first of November. That answers that. This lake had some really nice fish in it, but it was in a string that was stocked carefully. One had Atlantic salmon and brookies, nothing else. Oregon had decided that brooks were invasive, ?they put the there, and were in the process of getting rid of them through poisons in the mountain lakes that were hard to access. Not sure why, given the fact that most of these lakes were void of fish until the were stocked by helicopter. I would imagine if they quit stocking brooks they would fade out on their own.
  24. Well it was 5 fish for a very long time, so I suppose if 4 is too hard to keep up with than 3 will have to do, or 2, 1? C & R? I suspect you will get a lot of yes on that. Not from me, but many will say it isn't worth the trip, can't have a fish fry, etc.
