  1. The wooly bugger is a timeless favorite.
  2. I agree with Justin, you'll catch more fish wading. There are always areas that can't be fished by wading, but unless you're in a drift boat with a good anchor system it's kind of hit and miss anyway. Fly fishing from anything will depend on where you keep your loop. One thing about fishing from a kayak, or a canoe, is that you can keep your cast short and that helps keep the backcast up. Not all lines are equel when it comes to short cast however. Overlining will help.
  3. Sounds good Justin, will have to make a mental note of that.
  4. I've bought a lot of bou over the years amd truthfully I would never buy over an ounce. All turkeys aren't created equal and if it's so so, or if you use it in different ways like I do you're stuck with a lot that you might never use. I would stick with the bigger packs that you can find on line.
  5. Nice and good job on protecting tomorrow.
  6. Government should lead, but they won't. Both sides of the aisle and everything in between is more focused on the present and how it relates to their future. There will always be an election around the corner as long as we have a professional legislature. If they are going to help it will have to be in getting private industry to take the lead. We just saw private industry take a payload to the space station. I have no doubt that if the government said it would foot a big portion of any scubbers for coal fired plants the idustrial side would smell a market and a profit and act.
  7. I think the epoxy can take a set eventually. I would imagine they would have to be left undisturbed for years to see it.
  8. No, not trying to discourage you. I don't live all that far though and most of the rain here heads that way, but it hasn't been raining here.
  9. no, no, no, two teeth! There is no difference between Mississippi and Louisiana, ask Ham.
  10. I like some taper, but the bigger stuff isn't real particular. A twisted leader, or hand furled as they are also know works well and is easy. If not I would throw something like 2' of .020, 3' of something around .016 and the 3' of 0.008 or somethong similar that I could put together to get some energy in turning the leader over. It is always easier to turn smaller over with bigger. Quite often by the time you get to the leader you are basically in a roll casting mode and the larger diameter will over power and turn over the lessor.
  11. Pansy's If two guys , 69 and 71, can do it with a full Disco 169 it should be a cake walk for your bunch.
  12. Mic there are two different hybrids, both striper/white bass, but the parental gender makes them slightly different, or so I've read. The Sunshine and Pametto are the names given the two strains and one is prefered, but I can't remember which.
  13. The best ID is the tooth patch. Look for two patches, they will be more like lines and might be close together. My thing is if I see broken line/lines above the lateral I look at the back of the toungue for the 2 tooth patches.
  14. Tim quit comparing apple to oranges. The one mentioned and another that failed because of publicity had nothing to do with tax breaks or initiatives! We're talking government loans, not through an open program, but through the back door. Tax breaks and initiatives are fine if fairly applied. Your approach is to defend any and all money applied to CO2 abatement, whether it's well spent or not. You seem more than ready to assure us all that if we level off our CO2 output global warming will also level out, and if it drops, so will temperatures.
  15. The MDC has avoided the barbless issue, probably because of enforcement limitations. I think education is a better way to go overall.
  16. Why not do the lower Buffalo to the White, it is wilderness. You'll do some dragging, but you won't likely have any company either.
  17. I gave my old Kennedy to my son with the old lures in it for safe keeping.
  18. I wouldn't look beyond the NF or 11 Point. Anything else around here is going to be very low. The outfitters on those rivers can give you accurate information that you can depend on.
  19. Not to be overly critical, but that LP bottle in the basement would make me nervous. Nice report though.
  20. Here's the lanyard I have. There are others that are probably just as handy. I don't carry the fly box, you can't get a gill bug in it much less a #2 popper. Mine came with 2 zingers. It does offer options. yesterday I went cruising for gills and threw a small box in a cargo pocket and everything else I might need is on the lanyard. The zinger is long enough to easily reach a fish with forceps and there are 2 clips that attach it to your shirt and prevent it from swinging out when you bend over. Basically it keeps the thngs you always take with you ready no matter what else you need or don't need.
  21. I haven't been on the river in awhile, but it is one of the best. You'll have a good time.
  22. That is another trait of the Redband. It is speculated that they are a cross between the inland rainbows and the coastal cutts. They are a popular fish to stock because some strains have a high tolerence for warmer water.
  23. I was there once many, many moons ago and if it were me I would head north at the first opportunity and not stop until I was at a smallmouth filled pond in Maine. A float or a hike?
